You know, as strange as it may sound, I can't blame them for their number one choice - the guy is a beast. The second best however, was a little disappointing to me.

I can't hate on the list, even though my Ravens bias wants to put Joe Flacco ahead of Matt Ryan. Either way, considering that their stats are almost identical, and considering how both QBs took their respective teams to the playoffs (Flacco obviously advanced further than Ryan), it makes no difference to me anymore.

These two will be joined at the hip only by their being drafted in the first round of the '08 draft; from this point on, they'll start to create their own identities and forge their own career paths, similar to Eli Manning and Philip Rivers in 2004, and Alex Smith and Aaron Rodgers in 2005.

I'm finally starting to get over it too, but it still stings.

Quick question... were Big Beth and Peyton Manning in the same class as well?

I don't understand why Chris Johnson would be number one yet Steve Slaton was only number six.

They had the same number of TDs. Slaton had more rushing yards, more receptions and more receiving yards.

Despite having 6 years of seniority, Manning has one less playoff win than Roethlisberger. Lots of "one and done" for Indy over the years.

I agree, that bothered me, too. In fact, Slaton should technically be #1 over Johnson, if only for the fact that Slaton was virtually the entire ground attack for the Houston Texans, whereas Tennessee still had LenDale White in the same backfield as Johnson. Heck, other than Andre Johnson, Slaton was the entire Houston Texans offense.

Not only that, but Slaton technically played with a tougher schedule, as the Texans had the 8th-toughest strength of schedule entering the 2008 season, whereas the Titans had the 10th-toughest schedule. Additionally, the Texans played 6 teams that would make the playoffs in 2008, while the Titans only played 4.

Steve Slaton has my 2008 Rookie of the Year vote, even though it's wayyyyy past due.

Okay so it was Eli Manning who was in the same class as Ben. Thanks.

It'll be interesting to see how many of these rookies actually have long, impressive careers. This draft class was very impressive, but you have to figure that more than a few will fall off.

.....I love how they talk about someone else while they play Flacco footage and then just say a couple quick words and move one.

I knew Slaton would be a beast last yaer before the draft. I was hoping the Ravens would pick him up, but when we took Ray Rice I knew that was highly unlikly.

Plus huston Had that eek 2 bye same as us. So there road was even tougher due to that fact

Johnson was single handedly tearing us up in the AFC Championship game before he hurt his ankle. I cant really argue with him being number one on this list.

Yeah, I'm not sure if Flacco would have made NFL history if CJ hadn't gone down.

Do you remember when Ed Reed tried to break his back?

I think Johnson was the 3rd best rookie RB... behind Forte and Slaton
Forte carried the bears offense and lead them in receiving too
Slaton was better in every category then Johnson
even being a raven fan i think #1 is Matt Ryan

Ed Reed didn't try to break his back; the play wasn't blown dead yet, so both Reed and Johnson were continuing the play. Johnson was pushing forward, so Reed was pushing back.

Better than just letting the game spring forward for a huge run if the play was supposed to be dead but the refs screwed up. Vince Young & Mathias Kiwanuka, anyone?

I know he they did it, but it was pretty nasty looking all the same.

Yeah, it was nasty looking, but there wasn't anything intentionally nasty about the play. When you're on the field, you can't always see how a playing is "bending". I blame the refs for not whistling the play dead. Not particularly in this case, but you see cases where the defense stops being aggressive because they assume the play is dead and then the guy adds 5 yards to the drive, so a good defensive player will keep fighting until the whistle is blown.

Back on topic... It seems like the link is a video and it's blocked here at work. Can someone post the top 10? Thanks.

dude, i thought slaton was gonna be good. i drafted ahman green late, and then picked slaton in FA. but then they werent giving slaton a chance and my other RBs like McGahee and Willie Parker werent playing cuz they were injured so i desperately need to pick up some other rbs. So i finally got fed up and i was like Slaton probbaly wont do anything until next year and dropped him. The next week slaton breaks out and someone else picked him up! So blown.
