This Year's Draft Class

17 posts in this topic

I'm not. Particularly at the positions the Raven's need most, I can't see any long-term high level starters there (besides Crabtree, who is by no means a lock). I especially can't see any franchise players at WR or CB at 26.

While Boldin's salary to injury ratio is a big turnoff to me, I really do like the idea of dumping picks this year and trying to get a proven player. I don't like dumping high picks in good drafts or even in average drafts, especially when Ozzie is the one making the picks. But I don't think this is an average draft.

From one perspective, it's a good time to have a bad first round pick. Just the words "first round pick" have some value, even if the player you can choose doesn't.

This year, I think the greatest value will come with moving the pick. And as always, I hope Ozzie proves me wrong if he decides to use it.

i think this year is one of the deeper years at WR and CB
Vontae and Smith will probably be there
as well as Britt, Nicks, DHB, Harvin
Malcom Jenkins will be a good corner in the league, and Crabtree will be an Elite receiver

I think Aaron Curry is the only player in this year's draft class that is 100% NFL ready and can be a big time playmaker in the league. The rest of the talent is so-so, nothing too exciting.

This draft class reminds me a little too much of the 2005 draft class. The talent is a bit underwhelming and no one particularly stands out as an NFL-ready prospect. I think part of the reason for my disinterest is due to the lackluster QB class. Usually, the initial impression of a draft class is defined by the depth of its QB class, as that is the big-name position that will garner the biggest payday in the 1st round, regardless of the positional player selected 1st overall.

Matthew Stafford, Mark Sanchez, and Josh Freeman do nothing for me. Pat White is still a question mark, and it's amazing how far Graham Harrell's stock has dropped.

I think there is talent in draft, but no real super stars.

This is the year to trade for Boldin. He is better than any 1st round WR draft pick

We can pay him by trading Suggs to a taker, for some extra draft picks this year.

Although finding a taker might be hard to find, with the money he is asking for.

I just don't see the Ravens paying him this year or in the future for the stupid money he is asking for , so lets move on now.

We could get extra draft picks and really create some good depth at alot of positions.

There are plenty NFL calibier players in this draft

This draft has great depth at OL, WR, CB and a decent amount of DL too.

There is plenty of 2nd and 3rd rounders that could produce right away at all these positions. I think this draft doesn't have the home run kind of guys, but it has a ton of guys who will be solid starters and sort of like role player kinda guys

Speaking of Harrel I also remember back near the beggining of this season and the end of the year before they were all talking about how well Chase Daniel would do. Now I havn't heard anything about him at all since the season has been over.

As a Mizzou fan I will admit he was a system QB prolly though, It also helped he had playmakers like Maclin and Chase Coffman to throw to aswell.

Hes under 6 feet with not the greatest of mobility. Think Troy Smith with less speed.... Thats why he probably will go undrafted or 6th-7th round

I like Nicks too. He is a complete package. I would also say there are several OL that will succeed. But QB's like Matthew Stafford and Mark Sanchez going in the top 10 is very mind boggling.

Next year's draft should prove to be interesting with Colt, Bradford, and Tebow.

Why the heck do people care about such tall QBs? Yeah they can see over the OL better but there is a reason players get the Heisman. It is good QB play. Graham Harrell played his ****** off last year and got snubbed.

Drew Brees is 6" and his primary reciever is a 7th round pick...Put that in your pipe and smoke it!

I dont like Sanchez one bit.. I think he's over-hyped because he played at USC.. Freeman is a more appealing QB to me than Sanchez.. 6'6" 250 lbs and a rocket for an arm.. He reminds me of Jamarcus Russell coming out of college..

This draft is bad. There will probably be more starters in later rounds then the first round..

It isn't a top-notch draft but to me, the Ravens have always done selecting players in the spot they're in now. I'm optimistic...

Because Russel has been great in the pros right?....
Sanchez is a good athlete with good size and his Throw power and accuracy are top notch
He is also much smarter then Freeman... just because you can throw the ball 80 yards doesnt mean your a good qb

Considering last year was his "rookie" season because of the holdout in his first year, he didnt do too bad.. 2,400 13 and 8 isnt great but certainly not bad.. But I never once said JaMarcus did well in the NFL.. I just simply said Freeman reminds me of JaMarcus coming out of college.. It had nothing to do with how well he'll pan out, just pointing out that they have nearly identical frames..

I feel Freeman is more ready than Sanchez.. Sanchez would have befitted tremendously from staying another year at USC.. Hes a 1 year starter with talent all around him.. Freeman didnt have the weapons Sanchez did and he still put up good numbers.. Maybe its my Ravens bias, but he sure as hell reminds me a lot of Joe Flacco.. Small school, big arm, arm lots of potential..

Drew Brees even admitted that he had trouble seeing over the OL, so he throws on his toes.

I think this class is stocked with good 3-4 OLB and good OTs, other than that, nothing wows you

NEXT YEARS CLASS IS GOING TO BE FREAKING GODLY!!!!

(Dunlap, Kindle, Qb Trio+Snead, Arrelious Benn, Taylor Mays, Dez Bryant, etc etc.)
When offensive coordinators have asked him to look at a play and break down the progressions in recent weeks, he has drawn raves. Put a football mind on top of a 250-pound QB who can sling it, and you have something.
He's gonna be gone by the 1st round.
