Nintendo Wii

What games, what do you think of it, all that stuff. I'm split on the wii. Most of the time I love it, but Madden 09 sucks IMO and the producers don't unleash the full potential of the controls. A couple games I wanna get this year: Bully: Scholarship Edition ( think GTA but as a kid and in a school with ages elementary to College.), Boom Blox Smash Party ( May 19 this year), Resident Evil 4: the umbrella chronicles, and Assassins Creed 2 (I can't wait it's gonna be freakin EPIC!!!!!!!!!! It comes out late december)

I have the Wii and I love it. I had wanted a ps3, but I went with Nintendo because it cheaper, and I haven't looked back since. I like Madden 09 on it, but I had never played Madden before so I needed [s] Madden for dummies[/s] the All-Play option that Wii has (plus you can play with four people). That whole 60 dollars per game just isn't for me and Wii games are generally cheaper.

BTW, Bully: SE is only the main character's freshman year of high school; and are you sure that Assassins Creed 2 comes out for Wii?

Boom Blox = best party videogame I've played in a long time. Even better than Rock Band/Guitar Hero/insert-your-music-game-here or Super Smash Bros. or pretty much any multiplayer-oriented game. It's so simple, but it's so much fun and there's so much variety to the different games.

I can't believe it was concocted by Steven Spielberg, of all people.

Boom Blox alone is almost enough to justify buying a Wii. Heck, if my nephew & niece didn't already have a Wii (and the game), I'd buy one just to play it myself.

But, when it comes down to it, though, the PS3 is the best value (note that I said value) of the three next-gen systems. Xbox 360 might have the biggest library, but the console itself has hardware issues (literally all of my friends that have a 360, have had to exchange their systems or have needed to send theirs in for repair) and I'd rather not buy something that is known to break. The PS3, meanwhile, gives you more bang for your buck (even though it's more expensive) due to all that it does as an ENTERTAINMENT system rather than just a videogame console. So, depending on your needs, if you're a casual gamer, you can't go wrong with the Wii; if you're a hardcore gamer, then the 360 is probably your thing (if you can get over the hardware issues); but if you're a mix of the two or you value overall entertainment, then the PS3 is definitely what you're looking for.

Trust me, if ever you're trying to decide between a PS3 or a 360, talk to me and I could talk your ear off about the advantages and disadvantages that the PS3 has compared to the 360.

Funny, I had a similar conversation with a worker at Gamestop. However, he sided with Xbox 360.

Franchise I know 2 or 3 people whose Blu-Ray players went up in their ps3's right after the warranty ended >_> But yeah. I have played a few games on Wii, and its fun and definitely unique. Gets you more involved, and is better for the younger kids out there. Rock band is a definite fun game, although the complete band kit is about 180 bucks or so, its definitely worth it to me. Its a game you can play over and over and it doesn't get old.

PS: If you want a good baseball game get a PS3, MLB the show 09 is amazing, whereas 2k9 sucks bigtime. (only reason I wish I had ps3)

Edit: Xbox also gives 3 year Hardware warranty for the rrod(red rings of death) problems they have

They've also extended their warranty for people who've had the "new" e74 error. But, my thing is, what happens to people who get those errors after the warranty is up? We'll find out in roughly 6 years when the majority of owners' warranties will be up, I guess...

I have it, but have yet to find a good game to play with my 2 and 4 y/o. They like the wii sports that it comes with. I tried a few games like shrek and mario, but they are either too hard or really stupid.

Lol, in 6 years there will be a new system out there, and I'm sure PS3's are sure to last 6 years. Nobody knows what will be of these machines in 6 years. They have been out for 3 years or so, and with another 6 is almost guaranteed there will be a new Playstation and Microsoft console.

I want a PS3, but everyone I have talked to that has both says their PS3 collects dust while they play the 360.

I love these threads about the consoles, its always me and Franchise jabbing each others consoles back and forth lol.

I have heard arguments from both sides...It may seem trivial, but for me I chose the PS3 almost solely because of my hatred for the xbox controller...

Get Boom Blox! Trust meeeee, with my 8 y/o nephew and my 5 y/o niece, they never see eye-to-eye on anything but they sit down to play Boom Blox whenever we pop it in and get HOOKED. They LOVE that game. The only reason they've stopped playing is 'cause my niece is distracted by her new pink Nintendo DS and my nephew is trying to learn how to play RPGs and other video games to impress me. lol.

I used it for about 3 weeks, now it's collecting dust. Although EA is coming out with a more cardio-based exercising game.

As for a fun party, getting drunk with system, I love the Wii. I have it here with me a college, and its amazing how many drinking games we've made with it. I love SSB:M and Mario Kart. As for a hardcore gamer, the Wii is definately a secondary system. I spend most of the time playing my 360.

I have a Wii and love it, though my movie watching habit has kind of gotten in the way of playing lately, but I will be picking it up again this summer. My favorite games to play are still Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros. though I am also working my way through Zelda: Twilight Princess just to satisfy the Zelda geek in me :-)

i bought some stupid shrek game cuz I thought the kids would like it. it advertises 27 games in one but its really only 4 or 5 games with different "skins" if you know what I mean. Took that back REAL quick and picked up mario kart and teh wheel. Also got the component cable, looks much better. kids love the kart :D

I'm telling you, people...GOTTA GET BOOM BLOX!!!!!!!!!!!!!... I think the game is now $20 or $30 since it's been out for awhile, but it's easily the most underrated Wii game out!! It didn't get as much promotion as the bigger titles, but the game was developed and created by Steven Spielberg, and it's a pretty creative game! It's a perfect family game AND party game, and it's something that even adults don't feel childish for playing.

I have played it and you can go out and mow lawns and deliver newspapers, but you are still a high school freshman.

i'm not a "hardcore" gamer, but i do have the 360, and i love it.... its perfect for almost all occasions, you have games such as guitar hero and rockband for "group/party sessions" you've got CoD and Halo some of the best shooters for consoles (even though i dislike halo cause ppl take it way to seriously, however extremely fun to play while drunk) you have some phenomenal single player games..... granted a lot of games these days are all console wide, but games like assassin's creed, grand theft auto, and bioshock are pretty good, however as good as the 360 games are..... nothing rivals that of the PC games...... Crysis = Best shooter ever... thus far

what sucks about it is if your computer is semi out of date, it will be hell to run on it.... if your computer is very up to date, you'll be fine.... i mean my friend with an alienware laptop had trouble with it...... my computer which cost a grand to build (not including the OS) runs it on highest settings flawlessly

if you decide you want to build a computer or find computer parts a site i would suggest you take full advantage of is Newegg.com

I think Crysis (and a lot of the CPU-intensive games these days) are near-impossible to run on laptops on the highest settings. Laptops in general have problems with most PC games that have fancy graphics; even something as mediocre-looking as The Sims 2 has given me problems. It's not that I can't play the game, it just takes forever to boot up and then takes forever to load towns and stuff like that. Practically kills my processor to play it on my laptop, and it's a good thing I lost interest in it FAST (but bad because I paid money for it...) because if I kept playing, I probably would be typing on my 6-year-old Dell desktop right now.

And speaking of NewEgg...LOVE THE SITE. Hard drives are soooo affordable on there, and I love the product selection. Shipping's pretty good, too.

i built a PC better than most alienwares...... for like 1/2-3/4 of the price :)

cost 1k ..... (thats including the 22" monitor)

but yeah i get what you mean by the laptops.... but even still alienware is supposed to be a Game running computer... even the laptops, my friend said it worked out well up until the last level

and if you'd like to try crysis... you might be able to run crysis: warhead on your pc... i believe the specc's are more runnable and its a standalone expansion..... so you don't need the regular crysis to play it

The Ps3 is more expensive, has less (good) games, and the games it shares with the 360/PC are often inferior. (Fallout 3 anyone?)

Send me a PM and convince me otherwise then - there's some Ps3-exclusives coming up that are pretty tempting. Also I hear the price is coming down 100 dollars.
