You Are The Gm: Which Deal Would You Take?

46 posts in this topic

Pardon my ignorance, but I've got a question:

If we're reluctant to trade players within the AFC North, then why is Jamal Lewis in Cleveland?

Ravens released Lewis we didn't trade him, if I remember right.

If you are just asking us as football fan's I would say Chad for a 3rd is a hell of a steal. As a Raven's fan I do not believe that a trade for Chad or Braylon is realistic at all. Why would division rivial offer a trade?
I wanted everyone to answer this from a GM standpoint, not necessarily the Ravens GM. I know that the browns and bengals are not interested in helping out there division rivals. It has been reported that these are the respective values for each receiver, not the actual deal that it will take to get one of them. I don't think the bengals would take a 3rd round pick, but no team has been willing to offer more than a 3rd this year.

there is no way you get Chad for a 3rd round pick. From what I heard they are still trying to get what they were offered by the Skins. Anyway if he is available for a 3rd I pull the trigger no question. He still got open last year. They just couldn't get him the ball.

OK, for the 3 scenarios I would take Chad Johnson for a 3rd round pick, that would be a steal.

The skins offered two 1st rounders last year!!!! There is no way the bengals are getting anything close to that. I don't doubt that the bengals are asking for more than a 3rd if they are even listening to offers. However, word around the league is that teams are not willing to give more than a 3rd for him.

Yeah! The Bengals should have pulled the trigger last year on that!

The skins were stupid to make that offer and the bengals were even stupider to turn it down. Who turns down TWO 1st rounders for a 30 yr old receiver! Thats what makes them the bungles...lucky for us.
When put that way, obviously I'm gonna go for Chad "Johnson" for a 3rd rounder due to value. He has a good repor with Ray Lewis who may be able to tone down his diva qualities, and they guy can still play definitely and still has that #1 receiver quality.

Edwards wouldn't be bad for a 2nd and 5th either. He is a still ayoung receiver with upside. We have good coaches and an incredible vet in Mason who could help him with his "dropsies" and he is a certifiable big deep threat receiver which I think we need. One of the MANY reasons we drafted Joe was his pure arm strength and Edwards' speed and height would allow us to take advantage of Joe's cannon arm on play actions and what not for deep shots downfield.

Boldin is a great receiver, I just wouldn't wanna give up a 1st rounder and then some for him...
IMO Harbs will never take Ocho Cinco, too much baggage and not a tem player

easily Braylon Edwards, the deep threat for great value, when the guy is in form he makes plays every week and is worth a secound rounder and a scrub

What are the cap numbers involved? If Ocho's salary isn't crippling, you would have to be out of your mind not to take that deal.

And I agree with RavensIQ - the Braylon bum factor is far too high to give up Ozzie's 2nd rounder.

I think with such a need for a play making WR and knowing he have great Veteran leadership on the team he would still take him. Cincy didn't have those type of guys when Chad was coming up. Its hard to find a WR with that much talent. If things didn't work out you only gave up a 3rd rd pick.

Of the three I would go after Q. Chad is too much of a distraction and Edwards cant seem to catch the ball when it matters (ie the ravens game where we probably would've lost had he caught the ball). Besides... why would the Stains or the Bungles trade within the division? Most teams don't even like to trade in their own conference.
