Kyle Boller Or Troy Smith

18 posts in this topic

With McNair's absence likely this Sunday, how would you utilize the QB depth? Regardless of who starts, I would expect a win.

Some believe Kyle Boller has proven himself a valuable back-up and who should start is not a question. Troy Smith is unproven and isn't ready for that level of competition. Saw leadership in the game Monday with four great passes (three which were dropped) in an attempt to lead a come back.

I've heard others doubt Kyle Boller and disappointed with the new contract extension. Believe Troy Smith has shown great quality during preseason and only needs a chance to prove himself in a real game. He should get a few snaps.

Where do you stand?

there really is no question about this....Troy is un un-proven rookie who is still learning how to be a proper QB in the NFL and one who is still learning how long to hold the ball and when to release it WHILE making Smart decisions with the Ball, Boller has been in the League, been the starter, knows the offense alot more and has experience....i think that Troy would be ready next year or so, this year, definately not

Huh? He looked pretty bad, especially the Atlanta game, where he got to play a half. He's nowhere near ready to be activated, much less start.

I think we would do better to have Mike Anderson line up in the wishbone instead of starting Smith. Boller all the way.

na mcgahee all the way; he is explosive and has dominated the jets defence for some time as a bills player , but anyway getting to the topic; boller should start no doubt he did pretty good last game taking the ball up the feild and throwing what should have been a touch down pass to heap.

Smith should get maybe a few snaps, but after the preseason, I don't think he is good enough to start.

I would definately like to see Smith get some snaps and sub-in when we are winning by 28 points. Kyle Boller did look good that last drive. Smith can maintain a lead of 28 points. Give it to him in small doses, unlike Boller who was started to early.

well yea i would think that in a situation like that then why not???? i mean if your in the 4th Quarter and your up on a team by 28 points or more? heck why not put Troy in and get some Actual Playing time experience under his belt, unless the team your facing, is a good team, and despite their best efforts, they still cant come back, and you put Troy in there and he does some what poorly and causes the other Team to start to making plays and driving downfield...THEN we'll have problems, but i feel very confident in Troy that he wont do that kind of thing IF they situation is called upon him

I was so excited when I heard Troy Smith come up while we were on the clock. I didn't even care the draft clock almost burnt my TV cuz I was watching it none stop. Thankfully it cleared. I want to see some more Troy Smith, preseason was enough for me.

I think if Boller plays on sunday he'll fill in admirably and give us the W.

If he does good enough I see no reason why Troy shouldn't get some playing time.

to add to it all, if Troy does get put in, it would give him even More Valuable Experience, in which will help him out considerably in the long run...both for him and the team

I'm a big Troy Smith fan and he has a lot of upside, but Boller is just much more prepared at this point in time. But yeah, some garbage-time snaps for Smith would be sweet.

Yeah, Boller for sure. He threw 3 TD passes on Monday anyway, and he only threw 6 passes. That's gotta be worth something. :)

Boller all the way. I know alot of fans have giving up on him, however he refuses to give up on us. Boller was tossed to the lions way to fast. He has the arm, the speed and the knowledge. Now we need to support him and trust him to get the job done. The pressure on a QB is hard and it gets worst whne the fans do not support him every week. Remember the fans cheered right after he went out of a game and Wright came in.... I ask you .. What Kind Of Man Would Want To Stay In That Town.... A GOOD MAN!!! Support him until the TEAM (who knows way more about pro football then me) releases him. Lets work on rebuilding his pride.

Just my thougts and comments....

Actually McNair is playing sunday 99.9% they said. And I would rather see Boller because he is a VERTERAN, but I like Troy better!! a hell of a lot better. Don't know where you got your news from I know McNair will be in Sunday he may leave the game early if it starts to bother him again.

YOU ALL SEEM DETERMINED FOR A DEF WIN BECAUSE ITS THE CARDINALS. Don't be to sure they are good this year and we seem to under estimate teams and almost lose to them. Example last year against the Browns game 3 or so we won by 1 point!!.

Deffinently boller. much more expirence and troy is not ready just yet for the big leagues. but, if we're just creaming someone so bad that they have no chance of coming back, then sure. give him a shot. but other than that, the bench is calling his name.
