Past Raven's Drafts - More Offense Or Defense?

4 posts in this topic

Just curious about this. Admitting I LOVE the game but It's only been over the past few years that I've begun to learn the positions, look closer at plays and just all around look and learn about all aspects of the game. So patience please. But I had a question for you all.

In the history of the "Ravens" have we drafted Offensive or Defensive players the most or is it pretty much even?

I look at the Ravens like most people and automatically think DEFENSE...DEFENSE... lol hey, who doesn't?

So in this 2009 draft and with the new era of 'existing without Rex', (yes I know we have other Defense coaches), is it time to lean more toward building a stronger Offense?

Obviously we want a strong Defense and Offense but I was wondering about the draft record we have.

And as a side note: What needs will we be pursuing on special teams? I saw an article today (here: Baltimoreravens.com
It mentioned building depth on special teams in the draft this year.

We've drafted defense which is the reason why we're known for defense. Just because Rex is gone doesn't mean we don't draft defensively, if Ozzie was gone, maybe things would change, but that's not the case.

We've never been too good at picking out offensive players except Ogden maybe.

Well I think Jamal Lewis was good and Ben Grubbs is great too. Joe Flacco is looking alright as well.
