Ravens Interested In Boldin-according To Paolantonio

What are the other options? Boldin is not going to stay in Arizona because they can't afford him. Even though they like to say that he'd continue to play for them. He's not gonna do it unless they pay him 10+ mil. per year. They can't even re-sign Dansby who is more important to them i think because he's their only good linebacker, how are they going to afford Boldin who is asking for way more money?

The Cards have to trade him, but all the other teams that were interested in trading for Boldin already drafted their go to guys, mostly in the 1st and 2nd round. So either the Cards offer him a huge deal or they trade him. We'll see i guess in the next few days maybe.

The final, last-resort option if they absolutely cannot co-exist with Boldin on the team as-is, is to release him. But that won't happen. And he'll likely demand an even larger price on the free agent market than in negotiations following a trade.

I see the logic in that, but I have a question... If he couldn't get picked up for a first and third or even a first and a player, why would he (or his agent) think that someone would pay him Larry Fitz money? It would seem the other teams just aren't that interested in him, but maybe that's just me.

I disagree.

If Boldin doesn't want to lower his demands, then the Cardinals will simply not extend him.

Arizona is willing to part with him for a certain price, but if those demands aren't met, then their "punishment" is that their Super Bowl caliber team retains its Pro Bowl wide receiver for another year.

If no adequate packages are being offered, then Arizona will use his services again, and hope to repeat their success; when the time comes, they'll just let him walk and get a compensatory pick in return.

Boldin isn't going to sit out, he wants money and staying on the bench will sharply decrease his value.

If a team were to trade for him, they'd not only be giving up draft picks and/or players, they'd also have to give him a new contract. If they sign him as a free agent instead, they only have to worry about giving him a new contract -- no player or pick would need to be given up.

Besides, there's probably a team flush with cash who'd likely show interest in him if he were a free agent and would throw massive $$$ amounts at him, even if they don't need him.

I was. Besides, the Redskins don't have much more Monopoly money to play with this season with the cap. ;)
