Ravens Interested In Boldin-according To Paolantonio

Sal Paolantonio is reporting that the cards are telling prospective suitors that they will be willing to deal Boldin for a 1st and 3rd round pick. Per Paolantonio, the Eagles, Giants, Jets, and Ravens have shown interest.

As of right now I think there is an outside chance that the Ravens will trade for him. We would still have that second round pick. I think we should go for it. He's a proven wide out that plays tough like a raven.

:)

That's really all I have to say about the matter. We've all beaten this debate to death, back-and-forth about whether or not he's worth the risk. And like I said before, it would be somewhat of a dream come true for Anquan Boldin to be a Raven and somehow get Darrius Heyward-Bey (even though the acquisition of Boldin would make DHB unnecessary). Hey, a guy can dream, right?

We are officially "Interested in Boldin." Where in that article does it have confirmation from Ozzie, or anybody from the Ravens saying yeah we want Boldin. It don't. Shoot it don't even have anybody else from the other teams mentioned that they want him, its just rumors. I hate articles that state that this team wants this player but don't even have quotes from the head coach or GM asking the team if they are really pursuing that player. The best part though, is when they back track and say this team isn't interested in the player as we stated before, because I just laugh and go HA HA thats what happens when they don't get the facts. My Take is: We don't need Boldin, Boldin is 29, and we need someone that will grow with Flacco aka DHB or Hakeem Nicks.

no, no, no, no...a 30 year old possession receiver (albeit a great one) that we will have to sign to a big new contract to make him happy, which, oh yeah, completely screws us resigning Suggs because he is gonna want a lot considering how much James Harrison got this week.

Please Ozzie, don't. Stick with the draft, we can get a great player with that 26th pick, a defensive lineman, a corner, a reciever, an offensive tackle. Sounds much better to me...

UMMM, I'm pretty sure that tagging Suggs for the 2nd year in a row instead of getting a long term contract done LAST year is what will prevent the Ravens from resigning him. I believe he will leave after this year, even if they have a good season.

So what, are you saying we aren't going to attempt to sign him long term now?....whatever. No team wants a franchise tag clogging up their cap room, so if it can be done, it will be done before training camp.

And please don't tell me giving Boldin a new contract is gonna be any easier considering the luck the Cards had in preliminary talks on that subject.

Is he really worth a 1st AND a 3rd?

I know we don't really need any positions but is it worth sacraficing those draft picks? Makes me really hesistant, if it were a 2nd and maybe a 4th I'd say yes immediately though.

I'm a little torn on this issue. Even though Boldin is my favorite receiver, I would also like us to surely be able to keep Gaither, Ngata and Suggs. And with the amount of money Suggs could ask for, giving Boldin a new contract would probably mean that we couldn't afford Suggs.
Would love to see some Ozzie magic here though.

John Clayton is on sports center right now and he said the Ravens have a leg up on the other teams interested in him because the Cards would want to trade him outside of the conference.

Getting Boldin now gives a better chance to win the superbowl this year. Getting a draft pick wr gives us a better chance of winning a superbowl for years to come. I rather win one this year while we have Ray Lewis to add to his Hall of Fame resume.

A 1st and a 3rd is a little rich for me since we only have 6 picks but maybe a 1st and a player (Heap maybe, not sure of his cap number) or a 1st and next year's 3rd would be enticing enough. Large contract coming if it's doable. I would even trade Suggs straight up if the Cards are willing to do Suggs contract.

Totally agree. Suggs for Boldin. I have been saying that for months.

Don't worry we will have enough picks for the draft this year. Ozzie will work his magic. Whatever happened to in ozzie we trust?

We trust him because we know he's not dumb enough to give Suggs for Boldin.

My guess is if the deal does happen, we trade a first and Heap for Boldin. That way we still have that third round pick. Maybe pick up a TE in the draft. I like how Ozzie filled in the positions of need so the draft is just for adding depth. Why not get a proven wide out?

We have been working on a deal with Suggs for 3 years now and making no progress. I feel we can get players from within the team and the draft to put up 7-8 sacks a year.

I don't want to trade Suggs for Boldin. Pass rushers are a lot harder to find then wide outs. We are gonna get Suggs to sign long term soon.

I would be pretty shocked if Philly doesn't make a trade for Boldin to keep Mcnabb happy even if they have to overpay. I doubt Ozzy would break the bank in picks/players for a player he would then need to break the bank for again to make happy. Remember Boldin wants those sweet Fitzgerald dollars (9-10 mil per season) and nothing short of it will make him happy.

Clayton saying we have a leg up because we are a non-conference team is just standard rhetoric journalists tack onto stories during the offseason to fill time on air.

I believe Suggs played college football in Arizona and had said prior he would love to return and play for them although the Ravens were his 1st choice. I would really really hate to see him go, but if that was the case to get something of great value in return would atleast not make it a waste.

If we cant get a deal worked out soon, then I think we should trade SUggs. I dont want him going to FA next year and we have nothing to show for it. But I really doubt we will do that. However I wouldn't be surprised if there are some players in this Boldin deal.

If we trade our 1st and 3rd this year we will have 4 in this draft, a 2nd, 4th, 5th, and 6th. 4 draft picks is certainly not "enough." Trading down to collect more picks with those 4 is just nonsense in my opinion, because it means we would have zero 1st day picks most likely...

I just am not on board with the notion of Boldin for a 1st and 3rd round pick at all. He is a great receiver, but we would be needing him to be a #1 receiver with this trade, can he even be that in the NFL? He has had Larry Fitzgerald on the other side of him in 6 of his 7 years as a receiver to help take pressure off of him. We don't have that type of prescence here...just too much to give up with some uncertainties about him in my opinion...need I mention again that we will have to resign him to a much bigger contract before he comes anywhere near a Ravens practice field?
