Greatest Ravens Games Of All Time

22 posts in this topic

Ive always wanted to do a thread on greatest Ravens games ever. So here we go.

This is in no order.

Ravens vs. Patriots 2007

I know we lost this game but still, it was sensational. The stadium blacked out as we tried to take down Tom Brady and the perfect Pats. We had them the whole way. I was convinced that we were going to win and kept answering Tony Kornheisers question with yes! tonight is the night! But sssssooooooooo much controversy at the end and we end up losing. Im still extremely pissed off about that game! If there was any game that i wanted to win more than any game, it was this one.

Ravens vs. Seahawks 2003

What a comeback! down 41-24 in the 4th quarter with Anthony Wright at qb and we find a way to send it to OT and then win. Remarkable.

Ravens vs. Chargers 2006

McNair's first great comeback as a Raven(not including the one against Cleveland the week before) They were beating us most of the game but at the end, down 13-9 needing a touchdown, was does Mc9 do? Leads us down field for a touchdown. Heap makes the game winning catch and dives into the endzone. I have a picture of it on my wall. I tvoed this game and ended up watching it in its entirety again!

Ravens vs. Broncos 2000

First playoff win in team history. Remember Sharpe's td off of the deflection? Incredible.

Ravens vs. Browns 2004

First game wearing our awesome black unis!! Up 20-13 i believe with the Browns driving at the end of the game, Ed Reed makes an interception just inches from the ground and returns it 106 yards for a game sealing td. (A record until recently broken by.........who was it again??? Ed sumthin. Oh yeah, Ed Reed :D )

Ravens vs. Jaguars 2000

Coming into this game we had never beaten Jacksonville. Down big at halftime, we rally back to win 39-36 as Tony Banks threw 5 touchdown passes.

Ravens vs. Titans Reg. Season 2000

A hard fought game from start to finish. Dilfer throws a terrible interception its returned for a touchdown and it seems as though we were done. But at the end of the game Dilfer takes us down field and throws the game winning td pass and with the help of a missed extra point by Al Del Greco, we win 24-23.

Ravens vs. Titans Divisional playoffs 2000

Tons of mouthin off leadin up to this battle. The defense and special teams flexes its muscle against an arch rival and we win thanks to a game sealing int return by ray lewis. 24-10 final

Ravens Vs. Titans 2006

Down by 19 in his first meeting with his former team Steve McNair leads us all the way back to take a 27-26 lead. Vince Young then takes the Titans down field into range for a very makeable field goal but Trevor Pryce blocks it to preserve a 27-26 win.

Ravens vs. Colts 1998

The Colts return to Baltimore for the first time since they moved to Indianapolis. With former Colts quarterback Jim Harbaugh under center, the Ravens overcome two 14 point deficits and score 25 second half points to win 38-31

Ravens vs. Giants Super Bowl XXXV

And of course, the Super Bowl. The defense completely dominates Kerry Collins and the New York Giants as the Ravens win BIG 34-7, capturing their first ever Super Bowl.

What did i miss??

Ravens @ Steelers 2008 regular season, Week 4.

That was Joe Flacco's big coming-out party, and he delivered; not only was there the amazing coast-to-coast completion out of the pocket to Derrick Mason (rivaling that of Donovan McNabb's record 14-second pass completion against Dallas from a couple years ago), but there was Flacco's first TD pass of his NFL career, and the fact that he had driven the team to score a TD immediately after giving up a fumble that was returned for a TD by Pittsburgh. The poise of Joe Flacco was on display for the nation to see, and the Ravens punched the Steelers in the mouth for a good 3 quarters before finally coming undone in the end. Amazingly, it took an extra period for the eventual Super Bowl champions to best their arch-rival; the fact that the Ravens had lost by a hair of a kick with a rookie QB in his road debut, is astonishing in itself.

The game was indicative of the Ravens' 2008 season; it was full of surprises, with many close calls, plenty of drama, and began with much promise before ending just an inch shy of glory in front of a national audience.

Even as a loss, it was arguably the best game of the Ravens' 2008 season and marked the official beginning of the maturation of Joe Flacco.

Um, I'm assuming that the question means the greatest Ravens game other than our SB @$$ kicking of the NYG?
In that case, I would go with, hmm...I'm going to say the Pats game in 2007. What an unbelievable game. I'll never forget watching Bart throw his helmet into the stands, or hearing our guys *cough, Ray Ray* on the sideline screaming that we were getting jobbed. For me it was probably the most intense and exciting game I've watched.

Include that game from this last year at Cleveland where we overcame a two score deficit with Joe's big arm and Ray Rice's crafty running.

Derrick Mason scored a TD in that game by just destroying his man on a short comeback route, and run after the catch.

I also like the Ravens' first game ever against Napoleon Harris, Tyrone Wheatley and the Raiders at PSInet in '96, where we won 16-9 or whatever it was.

Well said, Franchise.

I think the obvious answer is the Superbowl against the Giants, but since I didn't watch football before this year I'm going to say:
Eagles @ Ravens 2008 (Ed Reed's interception being the highlight for me)
Ravens @ Cowboys 2008 (Last game at Texas Stadium)
Ravens @Titans 2008 (Joe Flacco: first rookie qb to win 2 playoff games.)

A game i've always remembered was when we played the colts in 2004 here is a link but it dosen't really show what happend or why i liked the game. It dose show some vintage Jamal and some vintage Boller as well as the fact that we wouldn't let Manning put up his record setting TD(not aginst us Manning).

What it didn't show was the subliminal chess match between Ray Lewis and Peyton Manning. This game was diffrent than all the other times we played Indy. Manning would do his usual audible/B.S. audible stuff and Ray was on the other side making just as manny moves/noise. It would go back and forth all game long. We eventuall lost 20-10 but i have never seen a QB/LB battle of the wits like that, it was like they were the only two on the field at certin times. Plus it was in indy so we could hear crystal clear what was going on while indys O was on the field. I realized that Ray was a great player but I didn't really know how great till this game.I knew what he could do physicly but had no idea that he had this mental capacity to duke it out with the best in the game on a presnap mental lvl like that. I realized that we have Mannings equil on the other side of the ball. An inteligent leader who plays at the highest lvl at his position. I have never seen anything like it (granted i only started watching football obsesivly in '96).

got to add the game against dallas this season

the two drives with the big runs that put the dagger in the cowboys and just how we played. derrick mason would not leave the game and played with one arm the whole game. it was jsut great to see us spoil the cowboys closing of their stadium the first couple drives we looked horriable then out of no where came a very solid offense and great o line paly

Jamaals Running Show over the Browns. Pick either of the games, they were really exciting....

The Monday night game where Cmac returned the missed field goal for a TD......Remember the block Ray threw on that play????

November 26, 2006. The "Hit". Bart Scott lights up Worthlessberger and the whole stadium echoed from the sound. We shut those **** bags out 27-0. After the game some guy took a steelers towel from a fan and lit it on fire. It was like the first time I heard the beatles.

Excellent topic.

Unfortunately, I can't pick just one favorite.
I think it's a credit to this team that we have so many past games to choose from, and we look forward to each and every Sunday, some Mondays and the rare Thursday.

WHAT'S OUR NAME?!

Hell yeah. I remember that game. Ben said it was the hardest he's EVER been hit.

Man all those games were great! hard to decide <_<

Man oh man, only the 2008 season is tough to choose just one game!

in 2008 I have to go with last game at Texas Stadium, I think I love this one the best because we were supposed to lose this one.

Man they had the superstars of Dallas there (I think they show Smith looking worried in the booth about 10 times). It was supposed to be an NFL Network fanfare...but nobody told the Ravens

When McGahee, and McClain made those end of the game runs, I couldn't stop laughing because I thought...oh well there goes the after game show and party!!!

I totally agree. Ray's ability to "read" the QB and translate that to our D is one of the intangibles that Ray brings to our team. Of course, I think the SB win was the best game ever for the Ravens! Who can forget "who let the dogs out" anthem that year. I marvelled at what our D brought to that game. Not to mention that Ray was the MVP. No game can match that SB win, IMO. The Pats game was awesome. We should have won that game and I believe the refs took that one from us.

All the games listed are awesome. I (like many) was at the ravens pats in 2007, and I will never forget this game. Such an awesome game, the stadium was so alive that night!
