Very sad story, reminds me of what happened to Darrent Williams a few years ago.

this really hits close to home for me.. he was 22 and my brother played with him throughout little league, senior league, etc. and when i was a freshman at North Hagerstown he was a senior at Williamsport, MD and i was called up to varsity because our jv season was already over and I actually got to play against him.. there were dozens of MLB scouts there all saying he would have been a top 10 pick in the upcoming draft, but then on his last picth of his high school career he blew out his elbow and had to get tommy john surgery.. he was still drafted in the 12th round and after rehabing and fighting through so much adversity he finally was a big leaguer and threw 6 shutout innings only hours before we all got the news of his death.. it really hurt and im glad to see that whoever started this post and the others who responded to it understand how much of a tragedy it was.. thank you guys for showing your support.. Nick deserves it.

I live in Walkersville and there were two articles in his memory in our Frederick paper. A lot of the guys I graduated high school with played against him and were talking about him Friday night at a gathering I was at. Coincidentally though a girlfriend of mine dates his best friend and they were in town this weekend for the services, and they were at the gathering as well. It is a really sad and such a tragedy.

I have no remorse for drunk drivers, especially when they try to flee the scene. Even worse is when the driver has a previous offense but was lucky enough not to have killed anyone the first time around -- but wasn't so lucky the second time.

I could say a lot of things that are inappropriate for this message board and would go against pretty much every rule in the Code of Conduct, but I'll just leave it at this: whatever happens to that drunk driver, he deserves FOUR times that much for the three lives he has taken and the one life that is currently hanging by a thread.

It'd be one thing if this accident were really an accident -- this, however, was just plain stupidity in its lowest, most unforgiveable form. Was it malicious? No. But malice isn't required to take a life. More importantly, malice isn't required to rob families of their loved ones.

Whatever happens, I hope that the driver gets everything he deserves.
