Virginia Olb Clint Sintim

Personally I think he is the best strongside/rush LB/hybrid DE for us in this draft and i'll explain why:

He has better size, power at the point of attack, pass-rush and block shedding ability than the other OLBs (including Aaron Curry) and unlike the DEs in the draft has experience playing OLB in space. His combine showing was average but he plays fast on tape, hits blockers hard and sheds pretty easily. The guy knows how to make plays and maybe the best thing about him is he has a motor that doesnt stop. Sintim would offer more speed, upside and pass rush ability than JJ and may be able to start from day one.

Im going to compare him to a guy flying up the charts because of great combine and pro day numbers, Lawrence Sidbury Jr from Richmond.

Clint Sintim OLB 6'3", 256 lbs, Virginia
4.75 40, 34.5 Vertical, 1.58 10-yard dash, 9' 11" Broad Jump, 4.40 Shuttle, 7.37 Cone, (did not do benchpress)

Lawrence Sidbury DE 6'3", 267 lbs, Richmond
4.64 40, 35 Vertical, 1.53 10-yard dash, 10' Broad Jump, 4.43 Shuttle, 7.45 Cone, 28 reps

Production:

Sintim in 2008 playing LB
11 sacks, 13 TKL, 70 tackles

Sidbury in 2008 playing DE
11.5 sacks, 20 TFL, 56 tackles

The difference being Sintim has pretty much the same sack total against stronger competition (this is important) at OLB not DE! Sintims 11 sacks are the highest of any LB at the top level.

there is even the possibilty he drops to us in the secound roundm for some reason his stock has taken a huge hit, he should goo in the first round IMO but he has slipped although with the cushing and matthews thing his stock might rise but id love him to be our LOLB

I really rate him. If I had a pick between him and Matthews, I'd pick Sintim.

I woulid love to have clint and in the 2nd round he would be a steal. He is that classic OLB rush type like the original poster said. He has power and strength like Lamar Woodley and i think he would be the perfect guy to come in and compete on special teams and see some time at OLB.

AS was mentioned before because he played in a 3-4 his adjustment won't be a hard at the next level. We have done a great job over the years at finding LBs and i think he would be another great one.

I would take Clint Sintim in round 1. This guy is a BBBBEEEAASST!! He can play ANY LB position in the 3-4. I know one thing, if we drafted him in the 1st or 2nd, he would give Jarrett Johnson a run for his money at the starting LOLB position. Now that I think about it, that would be a sweet battle to watch in training camp.

I agree 100, coming away with Sintim anytime doing the 1st day would be a win for the Ravens. IMO he fits that Raven type player that we love to have.

The battle between he and Johnson would be fun to watch, as Johnson he just a hard worker and it would take a hellva effort to unseat him. However i don't think that battle would last past year 1, i think Sintim is the kind of guy that will force his way on the field no matter where it is.

Alot of people on this board don't think we need a LB on day one because we have good young depth at LB(including me) but i would be extermely happy with this guy.

Adding Sintim at OLB and then a guy like Kyle Moore at DE in the later rounds would go a long way to helping up get more pressure on the QB this year and in the future.

I dont rate Mathews or Cushing for a few reasons, Cush would suit us better but the guy cant stay healthy, hes probably better suited to play iniside as well and he just isnt an elite pass rusher. Mathews is just a big LB who is fast but doesnt move that well. Nothing special there.

Guys like English and Ayers are DEs who will take time to make the transition to OLB, I like Ayers because hes well balanced but maybe a bit too slow. To me Lawrence Sidbury Jr and Aaron Maybin are pure workout warriors.

why would we trade up to get him when we sizzle and JJ who is one of the most under rated OLBs imo. Then behind them we got Antwan Barnes, the tsizzle clone. I agree we draft him should he be the best available on the board when we're picking, but trading up makes no sense.

sintim didn't bench at the combine

comparing sack totals between sintim and sidbury isn't the best, IMO. rushing from a 4-3 DE spot, which traditionally lines up straight across from the OT, and the 3-4 OLB spot, which traditionally lines up a full step OUTSIDE the OT....it's not really fair, IMO.

you also have to remember that sidbury was by far the best defender on that richmond team. he was double teamed.... a lot. not that sintim wasn't, i'm just saying.

i like sintim a lot. there are only a few schools that run a 3-4 defense, so finding someone that has already learned the position would be great. i think sintim is being underrated by a lot of analysts, but i have him as a late first round talent. i honestly wouldn't be surprised to see sintim as the ravens pick. high character, hard worker, comes from a solid program.

something to mention about sidbury......the Ravens east area scout is a former Richmond football player. the ravens d-line coach also worked out sidbury at his pro day. probably nothing, but something interesting to think about.

I think where a player "traditionally" lines up is a moot point, a LB even a rush LB has to do more than just turn the corner, theres also dropping into coverage and defending the run in space.

Sidbury looks good rushing the edge against division 1 AA blockers but NFL tackles are a big jump in competition. Hes a project but I like the upside.

I can see us trading down on draft day for an early second rounder and a later pick and take clint sintim
