Lawrence Sidbury Jr

So it looks like the Ravens LB Coach Vic Fangio worked out Sidbury Jr at his pro day. Given the fact that the Ravens were directing his work out, i would assume they probably got the most out of his workout. I would think that they go some really good info on this kid and if they like him i could see him being drafted in the late 3rd, who knows they might like him enough for the 2nd.

I must admit that i didn't really know about Sidbury Jr until the playoffs last season. However the games i was able to watch of him i was very impressed, also with his east/west and senior bowl. I think he has good size at 6'2 1/2 265, and is pretty quick off the edge. I feel he would fit in nice with the Ravens defense and special teams, and if the Ravens could find a way to get him, Barnes, McClain, and Jones on the field with Suggs then the pass rush would be sick.

Here's a link to the articleNFL.com

We also have a private workout scheduled for him. So i think we are definately interested in the kid, the question is how much do we like him.

i love him but i believe we have a similar player in Jameel McClain,
I want a speed rusher with a great first step and can get to the QB,
Someone like Maybin or Michael Johnson, i love sidbury but i dont think it put a first day pick on him as we already have him on the roster (mcCLain)

I think hes a project, probably situational but offers a lot less than McClain or Barnes.

3rd round maybe but we have OLB depth.

i wouldn't compare sidbury to mcclain. mcclain was big enough that he played middle and outside backer at syracuse, as well as defensive end. sidbury would only be a hand in the dirt guy, whether that's as a 4-3 DE or a 3-4 OLB.

sidbury does have a pretty quick first step if you watch him play.

We profiled Sidbury on Draftguys TV: Lawrence Sidbury Profile

He's not the most physically gifted DE prospect - scouts want him to be bigger, or quicker, or stronger - and he's not a top 3-4 OLB prospect either because he's not really a quick twitch athlete.

Still, he rushes the passers with urgency and turns the corner well, and he already has a wide array of moves and strategies to beat a tackle over the course of a game. Oh, and his spin move is lethal.

blood raven i doubt that Harrison has the slowest first step and even if he did that istn his game, his game is to get right under the tackel and just bull rush, he doesnt go around he goes straight through, and i seriously doubt that Lawson has a better jump off the snap that Demarcus Ware

But if you can prove it ill take all this back
You know which rushbacker in the NFL has the quickest first step? Manny Lawson. And the slowest? James Harrison.
James Harrison doesn't have the slowest <_< he has a pretty decent first step, it's just about impossible to find any James Harison draft day scouting report or 40 yard dash numbers anyway.

If you want to talk statistics Clay Matthews has a quicker first step then Manny Lawson. It's not everything in a player but you can't knock a player for having a good one.

EDIT: Just for reference sake Manny Lawson ran a 1.55 over 10 yards and Clay Matthews ran a 1.49. Granted 1.49 is freakishly good.

Harrison is slow, hes actually really really slow for a rush LB. He just has an insane motor and leg drive.

You completely missed my point, you can a big track guy in pads and tell him to turn the corner and people will say "WOW! look at his split! look at his 40!" and guys like Harrison and Bart Scott who dont have the "measurables" have to sit on the bench and play special teams.

Clay Mathews is more workout warrior than football player. What he actually can do wont work in the NFL outside of situational snaps, same with Sidbury.

i say go with the stud speed rusher johnson out of georgia tech.
think about it, with ray lewis and our defense, we will definitely give him the physicality and attitude of a raven and he could be the next peppers or mario williams
