Ravens Might Sign Rolle Back

29 posts in this topic
The Ravens are "involved in some discussions" with cornerback Samari Rolle, Newsome said. The team cut Rolle last month after he requested to be released. Rolle's talk with Newsome and coach John Harbaugh last month "broke a lot of barriers," according to Newsome.
I, personally, think that this is wonderful news and hopefully he can be resigned.

I wouldn't mind having him back if he'll re-sign for cheap. I said before, around the time he was cut, that he'd provide excellent depth and leadership if he remained on the team with a pay cut. But, because he respectfully asked for his release, I felt that it was necessary to give it to him.

This reminds me of the Peter Boulware situation in 2005, when he was re-signed after being cut; he had missed all of 2004 and felt like he could still play, but was initially cut due to his cap figure.

AHHH!!! I was just going to post this topic. :P

anyway, that would be outstanding if we go Rolle Back on a dirt cheap contract. Or Mac for that matter, but that seems unlikely. Our corps. would include, Him, Washington, Fox, Carr, and walker. Pretty solid. that would open up the door for the ravens to draft a Heyward-Bey or a Maulaga first round!!!

Also, aparently Lo Neal contacted Ozzie Newsome. that can only mean one thing, right?

Ok I gotta go watch the new episode of south park :D

wow our team is shaping up nicely... i had some doubts a couple of weeks ago as to depth issues, but if we can get just one or two of those deals done (pace, rolle, cmac, loneal, stover) that would really give us some much needed veteran backup that we couldnt get in the draft

I feel like we can do with out Lorenzo Neal, I mean put Mcclain back at his position , He blocked for Willis for like 1200 yds or whatev in 07. I say we let Rice and Mcgahee split the carries. Id rather sign Cmac if anytihng. Put him at 3rd , thatd be sick, he def isnt done yet. Rolle i think we can do without. N Haushka will do fine. We should save the money. The only two that make sence are Cmac and Pace in my mind.

lo neal definitly makes sense. more sense than any other actually.

He actually played all of last year. cmac and rolle cant say that at all

if we moved mcclain back to fb then we would only have mcgahee and rice as our rb's..... then we would have to get another rb. prolly one who isnt used to our system. why not bring back the best fullback ever who already knows our offense and have mcclain as the backup fb and split time back with mcgahee

rolle can come back and be our nickel guy would be nice.. When hes not injured hes a good cover guy but just gets burnt off the line alot.. So i mean our secondary could finally hold up its ground like our front 7 do...

Why owuld splitting carries between Rice and Mcgahee be a problem? and yes we can pick up a late rb in the draft

think about this though. You got Foxworth, and Washington at starting Cb positions. Then you got Cmac or Rolle at the Nickel, that sounds DELISH!!!! to me atleast haha

I dont know, it sounded like he has a high opinion of himself, didnt he request a trade so he could be a starter somewhere else? or were there no takers (*cough Ray*) so hes back with his tail between his legs?

Im not saying hes good, he actually punched above his weight last season. But he wont have another season like that, he would however be a regular fixture sitting next to McGahee and D Williams watching the games.

Mac isnt coming back. Harbaugh and he dont get along, I dont care what they say. And Rolle missed a big part of training camp and was still able to beat out Washington to start the year. So, who is to say he wont do it again.

We win more with Samari then we do without him.

please don't tell me you honestly think there were no takers for Ray Lewis! He stayed because he didn't want to leave Reed, Suggs, and Mason. He's doing it for his boys.

I think Foxworth is the best thing to happen for our secondary, but that's just me...

It's interesting how people went from wanting him cut because he got burnt so much, to wanting him to stay because he played surprisingly well, to wanting him cut again because of his cap figure and injuries, to wanting him to come back because they think he'd be a great nickelback.

I don't think I've ever seen a Raven cause fans to flip-flop so much since Kyle Boller. ("Start Boller, he's the future! Bench Boller, he's a bum! Start Boller, he's experienced! Bench Boller, he's a bust! Re-sign Boller, he's a great backup! Cut Boller, Troy's better!")

I think its Rolle if he returns... Rolle played great last year and he played while he was injured so he can only get better...plus he has good chemistry with the rest of the team. Not saying Foxworth is a bad

thing :D

I would support getting Rolle back. The only game I can remember him getting burnt really bad was when we played the Panthers 2 years ago and Steve Smith got like 260 yards.

umm because neither made it through the season last year healthy... how would u feel week 15 going into pittsburgh with willis banged up and telling ray rice to go after the steelers defense for 60 minutes??

picture steve slaton against us last year only worse cause slaton is a more proven back than rice

I think Corey Ivy signing with the browns is the best thing to happen to our secondary :D

You dont know that will be true of this season! Rice didnt have the cahnce last year. Look what Tashard Choice did to us and no one expected that. Im say LM at fb and MC/rice/draft pick at rb its gonna happen that way !

Rice is gonna explode this year trust me

HAHAHA - couldn't agree more.....I originally said I really wanted him to renegotiate his contract, he wasn't willing to do that, so I said cut him. Now that he has been cut, if no teams offer him a job, I say why not bring him back cheap.
