Report: Plax To Serve 2 Years In Prison As Part Of Plea Deal

10 posts in this topic

According to ESPN, the New York district attorney's office is going to announce it at a press conference this evening. They were apparently not backing off of demanding at least the mandatory minimum sentence of 3 1/2 years for the weapons charge, so I guess this technically saves him almost half the time he would've gotten if convicted.

WOW!

He definately deserves some jail time though imo!
Normally, I wouldn't care either way. I just hate to see the Giants suffer. Plax definitely needs to be humbled though in some way.

If his high profile status gets him out of a mandatory prison sentence thats more of a crime than what actually happened!!
I just don't agree with a celebrity status getting you a pass on things that are usually a stronger punishment for others.
Especially when you need to be setting a good example to the youngsters that look up to you.

But hey, thats just one mans opinion. ;)

They said that 80% of the time this same charge went to court it was pleaded down. He should not get special treatment in the positive or the negative aspect and Mayor Bloomberg is trying to influence the case becuase Plax is an athlete. If they gave it some thought then they could both punish him and reduce his sentence by making him use his celebrity status for something good in the NYC area.

If thats the case then i agree with you, i do think he needs to be locked up but maybe not for as long as the Mayor is pushing for if it's usually pleaded down anyway! Then do a lot of community service when released.

I obviously don't here much about his case over here, does it sound like he's definately not gonna be playing next season or are they trying to work around it somehow?

No one knows right now. It's likely he could spend at least some time behind bars (1 year or less).
I'd like to see them offer him a deal where he can either do that or volunteer for x years in a child development program of some sort. It'd be good for him as well as the kids. Jail is meant for punishment yes, but also rehabilitation and I can think of no better rehab than positively affecting the lives of others.

Plaxico is an idiot and has had 48 documented issues with the NYG(tardiness,no shows,etc..)and I know they`re desperate for a good WR but, they`re just tired of his bull**** antics.

I cannot stand the Giants so I cannot say that this bothers me in the least.
