Which Wr Duo Scares You Most ?

48 posts in this topic

We're going to play a bunch a good receiving duo next year ! i would love to know which duo u guys think will give the hardest time to D-Fox and Fabian ! for me, our two guys are going to have the hardest time against Brandon Marshall and Eddie Royal two big physical wrs !

what about you guys ?

Jennings and Driver are no Joke either. So I would say them or Randy Moss and crew. I think D-Fox will have a slight edge on Marshall since they played together and might no his jukes. But not that much of an edge. Our secondary is going to be really fast though so we will see.

But small. Brandon Marshall is built like a running back, and Randy Moss is no small fry either (but he's really more tall than big). Braylon Edwards is big (if he's still with the browns), Calvin Johnson is beastly, if they can find someone to throw to him the Lions might actually not be an awful team. Vincent Jackson is basically a TE/WR tweener. Those are the guys that figure to give us the most problems.

yea i think that is the obvious answer especially when u throw in the QB in Tom Brady.

In all reality our team faces tons of talented WRs this year and almost all of them have the QBs who excel at getting them the ball. I'm not scared of any of them and I think our secondary is more than ready for these tasks. But I'll give you the guys we need to respect the most (not neccessarily duos though most of them have a good complementary receiver with them)

1) Santonio Holmes (remember last year, multiple times?)
2) Randy Moss
3) Reggie Wayne
4) Greg Jennings
5) Calvin Johnson (if they get their QB situation sorted out)

Other guys to keep in mind if things work out for their teams are Brandon Marshall (if Cutler is still throwing to him), Dwayne Bowe (has a new best bud in Matt Cassel). Vincent Jackson should be mentioned in this thread as well, he's a big target and he and Rivers really clicked last year.

It will definitely a difficult group of WRs for our secondary to cover, but as I said, I think they are more than up to the task. Bring em on I say, I can't wait for the season...

T.O and Lee Evans looks scary on paper, the changeup between their playing styles figures to be overwhelming for pretty much any defense.

I agree.

Gates, Jackson/Chambers could be tough as well.

I agree, only because I have yet to see a team really stifle Randy Moss and Wes Welker when they're both on the field together. Welker is the league's best YAC receiver, and Moss is just a freak of nature (SUPERFREAK!). Beating the Patriots isn't an impossible task, but containing those guys is almost a pipe dream since they've played well even in losses.

I dont know how Big and physical Royal is, being 5'10 182, but he is fast as hell which we are equiped for. Marshall really worries me, because he could just out muscle any of our Corners.

I wouldn't count out Eddie Royal's physicality despite his size. Or maybe I'm just saying that because he and Steve Slaton were my two big fantasy sleepers that I dominated with. :D

I have to say Wayne and Gonzales considering how indy has burned us in the past. Of course that may have to do more with our lack of pressure on Manning. So what I am really saying is any 2 WR wearing blue and white if Manning is the QB and we can't get a hand on him.

idk man this year maybe we can get a good rush on him. If we put 4 men on the line (gregg, ngata, suggs, pryce) we have a speed and power rusher on the sides along with two brick walls on the middle. That would allow us to play a NY giants-type defense. if we can allow to use 2 safeties also with the 4-man rush, that would allow 1-on-1 matchups with their top 3 WR's, with a bit of help from reed and landry. this would greatly risk the chance of a hard running attack, but if we can mix things up properly, then i think we can handle the colts.

nevertheless, imo the wayne-gonzalez matchup is scary.

i hope your talking about in general w/ the pass rush theory and not just about the bronco's cause the bronco's don't really have a running game

Not exactly true; they've had a notorious ground attack for the past decade or so, but last season was the first time they've really struggled, and it was only because of a ridiculous amount of injuries to their backfield. I think, at one point, they had gone through 5 different starting running backs? Something to that extent.

I don't think they'll be so strong on the ground now Shanahan is gone.

I'd say either Brandon Marshall and Eddie Royal because even though our corners match up with Eddie Royal Brandon Marshall is a very physical WR and a mismatch for our 2 corners. Plus the danger with these duos is you pay too much attention to one you forget about the other. And they can change games that way.

I don't really think the Cutler-Marshall-Royal trio is even close to the level of the Brady-Moss-Welker or Manning-Wayne-Gonzalez types. I also do not think you can single out the WR pairs because someone has to get them the ball. Denver is in shambles, so I also discount Marshall and Royal because of that. Their new coach is off to a horrific start and has severely divided the team/fan base for no apparent reason. The kind of numbers they put up is irrelevant if their team has no chance to win the game.

If Brady is healthy, Moss and Welker would be my choice. If not, Wayne and Gonzalez.

Didn't they still finish 12th in rushing, though?

I believe they did (I don't feel like checking right now), but if you happened to catch a few of their games last season, they still struggled to get that ranking because of the number of injuries they dealt with. Additionally, teams were so hell-bent on stopping the run because it had worked so well for the Broncos in the past. After all, Mike Shanahan's system is the only reason why he was retained for so long despite having been so far removed from his two Super Bowl victories.

You could literally plug any running back in that system (which Denver, of course, had to do last season more than ever), and they would have success.

Clinton Portis, Selvin Young, Mike Anderson, Tatum Bell, Reuben Droughns, Terrell Davis, Olandis Gary...the list goes on.

Those 2 didn't get drafted in any leagues I was in. They were the biggest waiver wire pick ups of the year.

As for the Duo I really hope no AFC North team gets Crabtree. I see the Browns in prime Position to grab him and if Edwards ever gets his act together we'd have to see those 2 twice a yr instead of once like moss/welker or gonzolas/wayne and marshall/royal.

Crabtree and Edwards is kinda dangerous. I hope it doesn't happen
