Tomlin Says Ravens Favorites To Win Division

Before this, Tomlin has been one of my favorite coaches. Said that on numerous occasions.

yea i've seen tomlin give us a bit [i]too [/i]much respect, if that's possible...given he's the rival team's HC. a little hate would make it interesting!

I call that sucking up to someone. Seriously tho i really respect tomlin with what he did with the steelers at such a young age. About the comment tho i think he didn't want to talk of a repeat of a superbowl and the 7th superbowl bla bla bla.

He's probably saying that to motivate his team and down play their success. Plus apart of him may feel that way being that two of the three games were lost in the last seconds. Plus Flacco will be alot better this season. But once training camp starts nobody expects to lose against anybody.

if its worth something i would expect to lose to detroit cause we would have already secured a playoff spot jk

Like I've always said "ONLY TWO PEOPLE WITH CLASS ON THE STEELERS, TOMLIN AND BIG BEN", I think he is just being nice.... honestly I still think the Ravens will come second in the division.

Okay, so we have:
trying to be nice
reverse psychology
avoiding a jinx
wants to be underdog
motivating his team

It could be any or all of those things. He seems like a nice guy, but I doubt he sincerely doesn't believe that his team holds all the winning cards after winning the Superbowl. He may like our chances, but he has to believe that his team has as good, if not a better, chance of winning the division again.

I don't hold it against him, though. Like I said, he seems like a nice guy and I don't think he has any nefarious motives for his comments - but I don't believe that he's telling "the whole truth".

Dont kid yourself. Mike Tomlin hates the Ravens as much as Ravens fans hate the Steelers. There is nothing nice about it.

Tomlin is just trying to take some of the focus off his team. If I remember correctly, he was asked the same thing last year, and said the Browns would be the favorites to win the AFC North in 08...

our secondary was swiss cheese in 06...tomlin made it a little better in 07, and in 08 it was lightyears ahead of what it used to be

Well they did win the Superbowl and beat us three times at that. He must be doing [i]something[/i] right. At least he was respectful to the team... and hopefully correct.

Ya, its nice to hear that someone thinks our team is good. Maybe he's making up for all the love that we should be getting from Mike Preston. The wrong "Mike" but the right sentiment.

Anyways, I thought it was kind of strange. Why would he even pick a winner, other than to divert attention from his own squad. It definitely does seem like the "we are the underdog, no one respects us" attitude.

whatever - - I think that the Ravens, and we as fans, need to just ignore what he has to say. If he wants to throw us some love, great! But honestly, let's just do our thing next year....
