What Player Should We Draft If He Falls To 26

19 posts in this topic

I think we will pick darius heyward bey if he falls to 26 i mean he's the reciever we need he has size, speed and is young and is a playmaker not to mention he played for the terps in college. I mean he could make a good wr and qb tandem with joe and they can grow in to nfl stars with one another. Like a marvin harrision to peyton manning tandem but flacco to hey ward bey. But if he's not there and hakeem niks from north carolina is i say we take him. He's not heyward bey but can still be a star reciever with his size and playmaking ability.

DHB, Nicks, Clay Matthews, Pettigrew if he somehow gets past ATL, Vontae Davis (Doubt he'd fall this far but some mocks have him going to us).

Any of those guys would make for a great 1st round :)

I've already been warned about posting **** from bleacherreport. Here's a great example why......

Theres a draft section for future threads that are draft related
:)

The Ravens FO and Joe seem impressed with him, so if he's there, hes probably coming here.

well its not like Joe would go out saying he sucked if he didn't like how he played

But ya i think if hes here at 26 we will probably take him.

i like clint sintim a lot too, but remember, he's a 3-4 olb. the great thing about him is that he played in a TRUE 3-4 defense at virginia. not many college teams run that

I think you have to look at where the best players rank and then how they're going to be drafted. So rank you top 50 players and then draft several different mock scenarios and the best players still available from 20-30 will probably give you a better idea of the group from which we take our 1st round draft pick from.

Now I know DHB is a hot topic but I don't think he even cracks the top 32 when you talk about best players. I know last year we moved around a bit in the 1st round but that was for a QB; not a WR, big Difference. So I just don't see us drafting him at 26 bcuz there will still be guys ranked higher then him on Ozzie's board.

Now I've narrowed this list down to the top 15 who could potentially be around in this 20-30 range.

In no particular order:

1. Jeremy Maclin
2. Vontae Davis
3. Tyson Jackson
4. Brandon Pettigrew
5. Michael Oher
6. Chris Wells
7. Rey Maualuga
8. Michael Johnson
9. Aaron Maybin
10. Knowshon Moreno
11. Clint Sintim
12. Peria Jerry
13. Darius Butler
14. Ebon Britton
15. Larry English

If you want my view on how these players rank it goes as follows:

1. Jeremy Maclin (WR)
2. Aaron Maybin (DE/OLB)
3. Chris Wells (RB)
4. Tyson Jackson (DE)
5. Knowshon Moreno (RB)
6. Michael Oher (OT)
7. Michael Johnson (DE)
8. Rey Maualuga (LB)
9. Vontae Davis (CB)
10. Darius Butler (CB)
11. Peria Jerry (DT)
12. Brandon Pettigrew (TE)
13. Ebon Britton (OT)
14. Clint Sintim (OLB)
15. Larry English (OLB)

I don't think Maclin would be successful as a WR in the Nfl......

I just don't have a good feeling about him, and his game film ain't that great either.

His game consists of this

1. Crossing route/ screen/ sloppy basic route
2. catch
3. Break one tackle
4. Use speed to gain yardage

meh, hadn't hurd bout him much...i simply chose him b/c of his size (6-1, 200 lbs) wanted the ravens to draft nonetheless a taller receiver.

I was reading an article somewhere ( I think it was ravens24x7.com) about the different WRs in this years draft. They were talking about how the WR is a very cerebral position bcuz they have to read defenses just as efficiently as the QB; probably why it takes so long for players to develop. Anyway, then they went on to mention the wonderlic scores: Maclin scored a 27, Crabtree 15, DHB 14, Harvin 12, Nicks 11. 50 is the highest score possible. By the way (CB) Kevin Barnes scored a 41!

So take from that what you will but all I'm saying is Maclin has what it takes to be an elite WR on the pro level. Draft experts compare him to Chad Johnson.

Micahel Crabtree: Larry Fitzgerald
Jermey Maclin: Chad Johnson
Percy Harvin: Reggie Bush
DHB: Troy Williamson
Hakeem Nicks: Michael Irvin

as much as i love Maclin as a person i really question him as a WR at the next level, i wont get into it now but i just don tthink he will be a successful #1 WR in this league or even a great # 2
could always draft Mamaluga, we need a LB to replace Scott
have you forgotten Tavares Gooden, Jameel McClain, Antwan Barnes and Brendon Ayanbadejo? We don't necessarily have to take a LB in the 1st round. if we have to pick at 26 and can't trade down, i'd take brandon pettigrew the TE, we seem to need a lot of depth at that position.
