I think they just lucked out in who they were playing. They were probably picked to be the sacrificial lamb for the cowgirls on turkey day (How'd that work out for the last game at in your old stadium?). The first Monday is a division matchs for former AFL teams (its the 50th aniversary).

I really hope the Raiders can turn it around. They have talented players but they just can't put it together.

They draw an audience.. and for the good of everyone, that bold blue is obnoxious.

The Raiders might finally perform a bit this year, given they at last have some chemistry and consistency with the HC. I like that kid out of louisville Michael Bush too, every time i see him touch the ball he gets something done. Especially in the Tampa Bay game last year. If they can incorporate McFadden, Fargas and Bush successfully there running game will be very good. Also getting D-Mac involved in the passing game to help out big Russell, who IMO is getting slated to early, the kid needs more of a chance and some help to show what he can do, and i dont think he played too badly last year, just more consistency needed and awareness in the pocket to reduce turnovers (mainly fumbles). On the other hand, everything could go wrong again, Davis could just ditch Cable and the Raiders would be back to square one. You never know what you will get with 'em!

Careful! Matthew Stafford or Jay Cutler to Calvin Johnson could be a deadly combination in Detroit!

I think they will greatly improve this season. Of course, winning 5-7 games is a huge improvment!

Because if they don't give the Raiders primetime games (even though they've really earned the right to NONE this year), Al Davis will just keep whining until he gets his way.

Or he'll threaten to sue the league again like he did back in the day for some godawful reason. -_-

Al Davis is probably old enough to be my grandfather's grandfather. And yet, the man refuses to just retire quietly and let someone who's not senile, run the football team.

Al, there is such a thing as being too hands-on of an owner, y'know; what worked in the '70s and '80s, doesn't work now. <_<

edit:
by next year, i mean this next upcoming football season (the 09-10 season)

Lol the Titans @ Steelers game is going to be the hardest I've rooted for a team that I don't support since... oh wait, since the SB.

Probably the same way that we got out of the season opener: asking nicely.

Davis has sued the league three times. Twice for issues involving relocating the Raiders winning one of them and a 19.6 million settlement from the league. And another suit for 22 random things such as the Bucs logo resembling the Raiders too much and the Bucs and Panthers uniforms using some of the same colors as the Raiders uniforms, which the Raiders lost.

Also, he testified AGAINST the NFL in anti-trust hearings in 1986.

He has vowed never to retire until the Raiders win two more Super Bowls or he dies of natural causes. Poor Raider Nation.........

yeah cuz johnson and white gashed us for big gains...it was almost as bad the giants gashing the ravens.....

if we play like we did in the playoffs, then we will win easily

i don't mean to be hating on your team (its just a natural habit) but as good as the steelers D is, i think johnson is too fast for you guys, and hopefully haynesworth is not that big of a factor (idk if he played when they played against you) but the titans could be quite scary with a WR if collins continues his level of play

21-14: We spotted them a safety and good field position at the end thanks to the loss of our long snapper. The Giants deserved to win, but I wouldn't call it anything remotely close to a butt kickin. It was one of those games that haunts you for a few days.

Those are the toughest. Although, all division losses are tough. Losing on last second FG's hurts pretty bad too.
