LOL, so is it's and it is -- except for the space. I guess we just type the way we talk, but you're right. [or: You are right.] :P
The thing that Baffle's me on the internet. People go around and LOOK for people who have one wrong punctuation or misspelled word, and take the time out of they're ( first time I used it spelled like this, I did read the post lol ) OOH so boring life(?) just to post on it is about as childish as the people using no punctuation IMO.

I type the way I talk, but I suck at punctuation, I have no idea what I'm doing, but I do it anyway lol
You may have misunderstood what Mr. Bisciotti meant. I believe he was talking about subsidizing the team out of HIS OWN POCKET rather than relying on the team to pay its own way.

And, for the record, political (and thus economic) discussions are prohibited in these forums.
Maybe you misunderstood. You dont "subsidize" with your own money. Look up the definition of the term. The NFL has a history of taking Government subsidies to pay for its endeavors.

And for the record, this rule is a very hypocritical if we read articles based on the economic situation in America and we cant comment on what was said in the article. Especially when the article and the post were directly related to football.
Steve got a bit brave there being honest, that will probably get blown out of proportion by someone <_< . Stills it's a pretty risky thing to say considering how many people he involved in it, certainly wouldn't fill me with confidence if I was Tavares Gooden. I guess that's just the price you pay for being honest  .
I talked to Bart Scott [on Saturday] and we had a long conversation. We got a young guy in Tavares Gooden that made it palatable to lose Bart Scott because we had somebody that we're very high on and think can fill his role. If that third-round pick last year had been a cornerback [instead of linebacker Tavares Gooden], I think it's safe to say that we would have kept Bart and not signed Foxworth.

Lol Gooden's confidence must have skyrocketed upon hearing this, not the other way round, although it appears the Ravens must have told him what his expanded role in the defense was, not for him to read in an article! Wooooo T.Gooden gonna cause havoc in 09!
I understood his logic behind not bringing back Stover, though. I forgot that the limit on gameday was 45 active players, so it's easy to see where every single slot counts, especially during times where the team is riddled with injuries.
This was causing a lot of problem last season, having to decide who or who not to activate. Do we activate 3 kickers or the extra CB.

lol wow never thought of it that way. I feel bad for stover getting replaced by (most probably) a younger, unproven kicker but i think CB has been our weak link for a couple years too long.
"If it meant that I had to subsidize the team for a couple of years in order to keep us competitive, I think Baltimore would be proud to see the way I stepped up." Steve Bisciotti

I venture to say that most of you who have read this sentence dont understand its meaning. Its just another billion dollar industry with its hand out. What a great way to step up Steve, how much more should the citizens of Baltimore pay in taxes to "keep the team competitive"? What about the hundreds of millions of tax payers dollars that were allocated to build the stadium. Maybe the Owner and the players should take that 10% pay cut he was talking about making.

"Before we would lay off 10 percent of our organization, the organization would vote to take a 10 percent pay cut if those were the choices." Steve Bisciotti

Heres a MUST read on the economic impact that professional sports have on their cities and the hidden subsidies being handed out. After all, higher ticket prices, more taxes, this is a recession right?

I hope you get tired of these boards with that attitude. "most of you who have read this sentence dont understand its meaning"... Holy crap. Spare me the condescending comments and the preaching about ticket prices...
Precisely, he is willing to foot the bill, if thats what it comes to. This shows how much he cares for the team and is willing to put his wallet on the table to keep it going.
Yes, I agree. Bisciotti is willing to spend some of his own money - pretty apparent that he was saying that in the article. I don't know what the guy with the dog in his signature was thinking - that he'd somehow wrangle taxpayer money out of them and they'd be proud of him? Too funny...

thanks :D . it was the ravens game vs the chargers a couple years ago, when todd broke shawne merriman's tackle and dove for the end zone to lead the game in the 4th quarter, in dramatic fasion. my favorite picture of the ravens. ^_^
