Oh, we can beat them.
This year was the first time in like 6 years they ever swept us.
we'll get at least 1 W in that series next year.

Cmon ppl wheres the positivity????
Regardless of blah blah this and blah blah that, wouldn't it be that much sweeter to beat Pittsburgh in our opening game at Heinz Field?
especially in a primetime game eh neepo13??
And wouldn't it be a MAJOR highlight if we beat them down at their ring ceremony night macbrack????
All im hearing is the negatives of an opening game against the Steelers but what about the positives??
I'm all for it
Lets be positive ppl!!!

What makes you think were going to win ? I mean there home there the sb champs, and they swept us last year 3 to 3 . We would just loss and start off 0 and 1 . When we start off with a loss we normally have a bad seasoun.

It's too high of a risk. Sure, we could definitely beat them, but chances are that they'll take us down to open our season, in front of a national audience to extend their streak to four in a row, while we watch them get their rings.
I don't see Pittsburgh as having a significantly better chance than us of reaching the Super Bowl next year, but it's just a match-up things where they are built to beat us.

I never said we would win! I'm surprised you don't see my point, regardless of what happened last season they are still a divisional rival and if you are not confident of beating them away at any stage of the season then you may aswell concede the division right now!!! Why does it make a difference of what time of the season it is? To be honest i would rather get that away game out of the way in the first week when we are on a level playing field then to play it further down the season when they could possibly be on a roll and we could be struggling for form (who knows)!!
And please don't give me the superstitious notion of us struggling if we get off to a 0-1 start because every season is different and we're a lot better team than in the past.

Of course it's a risk, but isn't it the same risk for them?
To lose at home to their most bitter rivals before their ring ceremony in front of a national audience to kick the season off!!!!??
Theres many ways to look at it.
I bet if you asked the Ravens players they would take that game in a heartbeat!!!!

I appreciate the optimism. But, superstition or no superstition, an 0-1 start isn't good for a young team; the first meaningful game ending in a loss isn't exactly the best motivation for a group of young players who have high hopes.
Granted, they're bound to take a loss eventually, but it shouldn't have to be to the defending Super Bowl champions (a divisional rival, no less), on the road, in a hostile environment, with the nation watching, on a night with a coronation-like atmosphere.
It reeks of the Monday night game from two years ago, regardless of the fact that this team is better now (on paper) than it was then.

Oh i get your point im just saying i rather not play them first game of the year its pittsburg national telivised i mean to start off 0 and 1 . I much rather play them in week 2 then 1 , i just don't want us to start off 0 and 1. Even though what you said is true we could win and we would get it over with but i still rather play them week 2 then 1 . Since there's no option to not play them at all.78

I understand where you are coming from but lets not let reality slip away from us. I think we can beat them but they havent lost on MNF at home in something like 14 games. There is a reason for that. Why set yourself up for failure? Could we be the ones to break that streak? Sure we could but given the odds, I'd really rather not find out.
