Am I dreaming, or did I wake up in the Twilight Zone? Ravens really starting to generate some noise on the national level. I can't wait for the season to start!

Well I know they were supposed to be on the clock on sports center either today or yesterday, what was said about them?

another segment talking about Ravens developing into a legit offense. can you believe it?

edit: yeah guess that was mostly on the clock. Torry Holt's agent still commented on Ravens.

Could not agree more they're totally right and I have said this since the AFC Championship. The defense will go from a top 3 defense to a top 10 defense while the offense will move from the bottom third to the top third. Surrounding Flacco with weapons is exactly what this team needs and thats what the Ravens will focus heavily on in this draft. If Pettigrew is there, they will take him. The question becomes, who do they favor at WR...Heyward-Bey or Nicks?

The Examiner made a great point. When the Ravens brought in the vet Mason they also drafted Clayton as the project. Now I think they may bring in the vet Holt and sign the project, DHB.

Holt, Mason, Clayton, Heyward-Bey, Williams would be great for Joe Flacco.

Well, considering that two of the three analysts have very strong ties to the team...

I hope it's Bey. I mean, Nicks is pretty old and small plus she's a girl and hasn't put anything good out since Rumors.

Kinda looks like a Raven, tho.

Just kidding. It's off-season. :D

why would we go from a top 3 to a top ten Defense? We had our fair share of injured starters. Landry coming back=upgrade over leonhard, Foxworth=upgrade over an aging Cmac nad HUGE upgrade over Walker, Gregg hopefully coming back gives us our true nose tackle and gives Ngata some more rest. The only thing we lost, per se, was Scott, but I forsee his replacement doing an ample job.
There is no reason to believe we cant be one of the top three, if not THE top defense in the league.
Having a top 10 Offense would be KILLER.

I dont know. I think our defense slid this year but us playing such sub par offenses and our offense finally producing helped the defense. Lets put it this way, if our offense takes a step back next season our defense, even if healthy, wont be able to carry us like they did in the past. We addressed our CB needs with Foxworth and Carr but now we desperatly need a young pass rusher on the D-line. Trevor Pryce, although still effective in the grand scheme of things, is not getting to the QB. And neither is JJ. The only guy getting close most of time is Suggs and he doesnt get there fast enough. I think if we focus all on offense this draft, I wouldnt be angry about it, but I wouldnt expect to see the number 2 defense next year.

Gotta love Mel Kiper Jr.... and that hair!! Oh, and he's completely right: WR or TE in Round 1 and whichever we don't choose in Round 1 we need to pick up in Round 2.

Now lets not forget about Jeremy Maclin. If Maclin is there at 26 then I don't see how Bey or Nicks can even make it into the discussion. There is still a chance he could slide:

1. (Lions)-Eugen Monroe
2. (Rams)-Jason Smith
3. (Chiefs)-Aaron Curry
4. (Seahawks)-Mathew Stafford
5. (Browns)-Brian Orakpo
6. (Bengals)-Andre Smith
7. (Raiders)-BJ Raji
8. (Jaguars)-Michael Crabtree
9. (Packers)-Michael Johnson
10. (49ers)-Mark Sanchez
11. (Buffalo)-Everett Brown
12. (Broncos)-Ray Maualuga
13. (Redskins)-Aaron Maybin
14. (Saints)-Michael Jenkins
15. (Houston)-Knowshon Moreno
16. (Chargers)-Tyson Jackson
17. (Jets)- Josh Freeman
18. (Bears)-Michael Oher
19. (Buccaneers)-Peria Jerry
20. (Lions)-Vontae Davis
21. (Eagles)-Brandon Pettigrew
22. (Vikings)-Darius Butler
23. (Patriots)-Brian Cushing
24. (Atlanta)-Louis Delmas
25. (Miami)-Larry English
26. (Ravens)-JEREMY MACLIN

man i love mels hair

i think that our d will be on par or even better than last years,
Also if we can get a top 10 offense, so drafting a bey or nicks and get a top 10 offense, we are going back to the big lights, man im pumped for the draft

What was up with the ananylsis though, they said that we shoudl move to an offensive team, well IMO we still have a core of great young defnse, in 5 years we can have a great d still, why cant we have a great d and a great offence, i mean we have young RB's, we have the young QB, Heap, Syp and Smith are all under 29, We have Gaither, Grubbs. Chester, Yanda, Cousins all under 26 and we have project WR's that could develop into something special, this is a young team we have, and if we can draft a stud WR this year, get some young players on the d-line in next years draft we will be in the mix for a long time

Mel Kiper is a complete tool. He has no playing experience, no front office experience and consistently labels busts as future stars. The day I listen to him is the day I will eat my undies. He is right, however that we need a WR and TE, I will give him that much.

Maclin at 26? Are you crazy? Most draft experts have him going Top 10 consistently!! In fact, this evening, someone had Maclin going BEFORE Crabtree!

Wow, if the offense becomes better or equal to the defense that would be a whole new experience for me!!! I wasn't following the NFL pre Ravens Superbowl so all i know is Defence :o !!!!!!!!

edit: i didn't start following the Ravens because of the Superbowl win, i didn't know about the win at the time ;).

how is that diffrent from what i asked ? Any way cmac old ia better than some foxworth who wasn't even a starter last year . Cmac's been a starter he's whole career they should have kept him old or young over some fast but skill less foxworth dude.

I disagree, a 'healthy' McAlister maybe but his knee restricts him from completing a full season now imo! How can you rely on that? He barely played last season and we still had the #2 pass D so i think its the right move.

That still doesn't mean where better without him eventully when we play a team with good recivers next year there going to take advantage of the small coners we have, just throwing it up to them were they will win cause of the height diffrence. And i don't know why they released cmac but i think they deffinatly should of kept him so we can still have a vet corner who skills and height , over a fast Dominic Foxxworth.

McAlisters height wasn't missed last season when Fabian stepped in so i can't see why it would be any different this season!?

Rolle has 1 inch on Foxworth so i cannot see height being significant at either corner spot.

Ok it wasn't last year but it will be this year watch and see , but he's tackling was missed washington couldn't even bring down santonio holme's down. How is he going to bring someone down like boldin or moss or andrey johnson. Eventully next year were going to miss some of chris mcalisters attributes, if its his height or he's tackling you will see next year.

I definately agree that tackling is an issue!! But how can you miss somebodys attributes when they are barely on the field??!?

As hard as it is to admit it's time to move on.

Dont we all do the same thing, though? We'd probably never admitt it but every last one of us is absolutly wrong about the players in the draft 80% of the time and so are front offices. The only difference is the front offices actually get paid to make the pick and Kiper gets paid to give his opinion on the picks. Outside of that we are all guessing.

Hahahahah; I liked ESPN's opinion on what the Ravens need to target in the draft, but they then pulled up a graphic showing that left tackle also needs to be addressed as Baltimore ranked 27th in the league in yards per rush behind the left tackle.

I mean, did they even bother to look into what they were saying? I don't mind ESPN at all, but come on, that is amateur.

everyone knows the ravens need a receiver though, that doesn't make him brilliant...my wife who isn't even a football fan knows the ravens need a receiver..
