Flacco Expendable?

119 posts in this topic

And as if you weren't riled up enough yet, look what Pete Prisco said about Joe Flacco on draft day!

Senior writer indeed, this is a reason I don't get too hyped up over what analysts say.

Also someone find out who Terps530 is and give him a medal (3rd post)

Nobody gets it right all the time (least of all funky disco biscuits Prisco), its a lottery. How many times do we see re-drafts that are 95% different?

it would only be a possibility in my eyes if we were gonna get Jay Cutler out of the deal..... but flacco has a better attitude
lol at that, oh how wrong they where as they where sitting at home watching flacco make history
I'm proud to say that it was one of those rare times where (on the subject of Flacco being a good pick) I was 100% right in everything I said, months in advance.

I already did my gloating earlier though, so I'll stop here. :)

I skimmed through the gist of this, but trading him would be foolish, we have a good back up QB and that's a necessity of something happens to Flacco.

He gave Atlanta/Baltimore the two worst grades

Clearly, Prisco was pretty down on the quarterback class as a whole.

By the way, thanks for digging those links up, I honestly wish all analysts were forced to own up to their predictions from the year before, and experience temporary humiliation/jubilation.

Fans as a whole pretty much just buy into what they hear from the "experts," myself included to a certain extend, but how much credibility can these guys have if they're straight up wrong?

LMAO!

Notice also how he was on the Titans for drafting Johnson ;) ;)

That'll be the day a media "expert" starting out like this:

(radio-transmission):
"
So this is draft-day... Now last year, I didn't get ANYTHING right at ALL, but I'm telling you [insert team here] should never have drafted [insert player here]!!! This must be the worst draft-choice in the history of football, at least if I get to write that history, that is ;)

"

To their credit, evaluating college kids is a tough job as the whole business is pretty unpredictable, but guys like Prisco try to sound authoritative and strong, but when their predictions don't pan out, they just look like loud-mouths.

The problem is 95% of these so-called experts dont even watch film, or dont know how to break it down. Most of them hear the daily ups and downs of different NFL scouts and what they say about every player and that is why they change their mock drafts every other day. Mock drafts are for entertainment purposes, atleast for me, because I dont believe a damn thing 99% of those idiots say. Very few of them were players, GM's, Scouts, etc. in the NFL. Most of them are keyboard warriors who think they know it all.

Ok, im done ranting.

Actually the segment was on QB they considered "tradeable." They were not saying that they should be traded, but the question was if a GM was on the other line asking for that QB, would you consider that QB tradeable?

Rod Woodson stated that he would listen to offers for Flacco, because of Troy Smith (which I don't get. Troy Smith has proven nothing in the NFL and Flacco is more accomplished than Troy Smith is). The other guy on the panel said that Woodson was crazy and that Flacco is not a tradeable QB.

Just consider this. Woodson considered JeMarcus Russell as untradeable. Nuff said. I think Woodson has a bias for black QBs with any kind of perceived ability.

Ever notice how people only get credit for having predictions come true but rarely get called when they fall apart. Rod is just on the Troy bandwagon and drumming up viewers.

It's not that he's biased toward black quarterbacks solely because they're black, it's just that guys like Woodson, Ray, Reed, and Suggs are able to relate with other African-American players because they come from the same backgrounds, listen to the same music, talk the same way, and simply have many things in common.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Ray Lewis would not be able to naturally hit it off with a 24 year old white guy like Flacco.

This discussion is getting WAY too close to violating the "no politics" rule. Let's leave anything related to race out of these forums, please.

Rams or Chiefs?

If you do, at least no one will claim you're a band-wagon jumper... neither one is an "elite" team. :D

JaMarcus Russell, at this point in time, is untradeable, though.

Considering how big his contract is (which other teams wouldn't be willing to pick up), and seeing as how Oakland has already made such an investment in him, the Raiders can't get rid of him yet.

Not only that, but Russell has only had a little over a year's worth of time as the starter in his two-year career thus far; technically, it's too early to tell if he'll pan out, even though I personally think he's a bust.

Simply put, the Ravens would be the laughing stock of the NFL if they traded Flacco.

You're talking about a guy who has the most playoffs wins for a rookie QB in NFL history. Granted he had the benefit of an awesome defense, but that's still very impressive. Flacco was considered a project coming from a Deleware program where he didn't even call the plays on field. How he played so well as a rookie caught everyone by storm. This kid hasn't even come close to reaching his peak yet. It will easily be another 3-4 years before Joe hits his prime.

Bottom line, the Ravens trading Flacco would be an even bigger bondeheaded move than the Broncos trading Cutler IMO.

Doesn't sound like an Ozzie move at all. He's been searching for a franchise QB since he took over and now he may very well have one. Youu don't trade away a guy who could be the face of your franchise for the next 10-12 years just because you think Troy Smith deserves a "Chance".

if we were to trade flacco, i would give up being a ravens fan.. im sorry this team has gone tooo many years trying to get a qb and now that we finally can go into the offseaon not worrying about a qb and just trade him, would be insane....

For the record, as a Jets fan, I would give up the 17th pick this year as well as our 1st rounder next year for Flacco.

Flacco hasn't even begun to achieve his potential in this league. He has all the raw physical tools you look for. Size, Arm Strength, Mobility, etc.

What was questioned about Joe were the intangible things. Accuracy, Pocket Awareness, and the ability to digest an NFL offense. He answered pretty much all of those questions in his rookie season.

I can pretty much guarantee Flacco will be a Raven atleast as long as Ozzie is GM.

i highly doubt flacco will be traded..... i mean we have a better chance of the world ending tommorow (knock on wood that it doesn't)

Guys, Flacco is not going anywhere. This is a nonissue as far as I am concerned. Flacco will be here for many years to come. Let's just hope Ozzie does not allow Flacco anywhere near his contract season let alone FA without a new contract.
