My thoughts exactly
So if he thinks Troy Smith is the next Matt Cassel, that means Flacco is the next Brady right? :P

GQ JOE!! :D
i hope your right :)
There is 0% chance that Flacco is traded...
:) thats why ozzie is the GM and the media is the devil :) jk lol
No, the Ravens should keep him. It's vital to have a good backup. NE lost Brady last year, and Cassell led them to 11-5. The Titans relied on backup Kerry Collins over Vince Young.

And the Bengals stank with Ryan Fitzpatrick replacing Carson Palmer...
to be fair, the bengals stink with carson palmer :)
Rod Woodson REALLY likes Troy Smith. I dont think I've ever heard him say a bad thing about the guy. I dont know that I want Smith over Flacco but I think Smith can be a solid QB in this league. He can be a guy like David Gerrard. Give him the right surrounding cast and he could be effective enough to win. Having said that Flacco is the guy, Troy is number 2.
exactly, if there is little drop off between the two, see what you can get wether it be the jay cutler, anquan boldin, antonio gates of the league

as much as i hate flacco being in the shadow of matt ryan, it never hurt to lis...... never mind thats whats happening in denver right now

Many players believe that Smith is the man, but coaches, scouts and analysts usually dismiss him as a backup.

I respect Woodson, but Flacco is probably one of the most untouchable players in the league at this point. In terms of value to a team, there aren't many guys ranking above Joe.

I TOTALLY AGREE.. BE SUPRISED IF WE LET GO OF TROY SMITH AND HE STARTS ELSEWHERE AND BECOMES A STAR... I STILL HOPE HE AND FLACCO BATTLE IT OUT IN TRAINING CAMP.... ALL U FLACCO LOVERS MAN I TELL YA... HE HAS POOR AWARENESS AT TIMES... I LIKE HIM AND ALL DONT GET ME WRONG, BUT I STILL THINK TROY SMITH WILL BE THE BETTER QB

TROY SMITH - THE FUTURE STAR QUARTERBACK

Your point is compelling. So compelling that it must have overridden logic itself and CAPSLOCKED your keyboard.

Ok. I'll just watch and see.

How long is this going to take anyway?

Joe Flacco and expendable do not belong in the same sentence together. I love Rod Woodson and Troy Smith but this just sounds to me like Rod exerting his man-crush on Troy that he showed so much during training camp/preseason last year.
On NFL Network Rod Woodson would consider trading Flacco if in Ozzie's shoes, as he considers Troy Smith to be in the midst and to have the 'it' factor therefore making Flacco available for trade value. Is this even thinkable!? Would any of you guys even consider any kind of trade for Flacco?

My bad btw if something has already been posted along these lines.
I saw that last night and I am never listening to them about Ravens things... they never know what they are talking about, They said that Troy Smith is going to be a surprise QB of 2009...

how is he going to be surprising when he is sitting on the bench.

I saw this this morning. Did Woodson watch football last year? Maybe he has amnesia. Troy Smith may well have the "it" factor, especially coming in with the wildcat formations, but Flacco did what no other Rookie has done in the Superbowl era. Didn't he say that he wouldn't trade Matt Ryan, who went one and done? I don't get it.

He could be the best quarterback in history, but he will never put up the numbers in our system to prove it.

I honestly dont think it does hurt to listen. We may never know the truth but I honestly believe McDaniels did more then just listen to offers from other teams. I think he was actively trying to trade Cutler and lied to him about it. In that case, imo, McDaniels deserves to have his starting QB want out.

we finally find our qb of the future, and the nfl network is talking about trading him?!

Ozzie would never do something so dumb.

Joe Flacco Is the Man In Baltimore, and We Will Not Trade Him.

No, he wouldn't. And won't. Not even for Matt Ryan...

Woodsen is just dead wrong. Why would we trade a rookie QB that took us to the AFC championsip game his first season??? His potential is limitless IMO. Ravens will never bench Flacco for Smith, unless Flacco is injured. Smith is unproven in the NFL at this point. I personally don;t think he is capable of replacing Flacco at this time. Joe is our future and I'm so glad we have him. Let's get him a young, tall, fast receiver and see what he can do next season. The future is very promising. Go RAvens

Agreed :D

OK, Flacco is no doubt a superior QB at this stage of his development. In fact he has IMO the potential to become a great, (Mannining, Rothensburger, Montana?) QB, So...trading him would be....Dumb? (I don't know of a good word to describe it better and stay PG-13)

Having said this... It is also my opinion that Troy Smith is as good, or better as Matt Cassel. In fact I believe he is most likely better than many of the veteran starter QB's in the league this year.

THIS IS A GOOD THING!! Think about it, many teams have difficulty fielding one effective QB. We have two of the best in the league! Think of the diversity and opportunity this gives our offense this year.

IMO "The Great Oz" is without a doubt the most important player on the Ravens and never takes the field (anymore). Think about his acquisition of talent for our team he has made over these years, very well done!

I'd trade Flacco, but It's gonna cost! Hope the Lions ring in the phone! I'll take there first round pick, 2nd round pick, 2010's 1st round pick, 2011's first round pick, plus Calvin johnson as the icing on the cake!!! This way we KNOW were going to have 3 years in a row with a top 5 pick!!!
