Ughh Comcast Digital Cable May Lose Nfl Network

20 posts in this topic

I turned on my TV today to find that the NFL may terminate Comcasts right to carry the channel. It may be gone for users by May 1st

I'm super pissed about this, no thursday night games for me :[

Apparently (and I can't find the source right now), but Comcast has agreed to continue carrying it temporarily beyond the expiration of the agreement, pending a court ruling.

Either way, my decision's almost completely set on switching to Verizon anyway for cable AND internet when our Comcast contract's up. (Verizon DOES have NFL Network...right?)

thats hilarious...They already make you pay extra for it, now it wont be available at ALL!!!

My two years with Comcast is over in May and then its bye-bye cable. Hello DIRECTV. Im sure theres a good reason why comcast is consistently in the top5 for WORST customer ssatisfaction and the satellite companies are at the other end.

Comcast's On-Demand selection is great and all, but with the proliferation of new VOD sites like Hulu and the new VOD services that most major networks offer, there's no need for On-Demand -- especially when these same websites play FEWER commercials than On-Demand programming does.

Comcast wouldn't lower our bill until I negotiated and had them do an ala carte type deal. And even with that adjustment to our service, we lost a lot of channels in exchange for what we actually wanted -- and we're still stuck paying a huge chunk for JUST the channels we want.

I'd switch to DirecTV, but the Sunday Ticket is too expensive for my taste (and my dad won't let me pay for it myself), and I'm still not sold on satellite TV anyway. We're just switching to Verizon because of their TV/internet package.

FiOS > Comcast

FiOS has NFL Network AND MLB Network on their base package, FiOS TV Premier.. along with all the ESPN's (ESPN, ESPN 2, ESPNU, ESPN Classic, etc.) and tons of HD.

I dont care about the sunday ticket, just as long as I can watch Ravens games on CBS. I would get FiOS, but I live in the city, so I dont think we'l be getting it for awhile, if at all...I heard it HAS to be run underground, but all our wires come in from poles.

My FIOS comes in above ground (from the pole). It might be that the main that cables have to be underground. I'm sure there's an ordinance or something now to stop proliferation of overhead wires. Too many and they would blot out the sky.

I wish I could get Fios, but they haven't laid the fiber yet in my area, and I can't put up a satellite dish at my apartment building. Thank god for Sirius radio.
yay... there goes another ravens game from TV :(
Any local game on the NFL Network is simulcast on a local station.. so don't worry about losing any games... ALL games are either on the local network or simulcast if they happen to be on ESPN or NFLNetwork.

unfortunately i don't live in MD, i live in FL where we get maybe 2 games that aren't primetime/playoffs/thanksgiving games

they'd rather show
dolphins
pats
cowboys (yuck)
actually probably the whole NFC East now
TB
Jax
.....
only teams that don't get more publicity here than us down here would have to be the teams selecting in like the top 5 of the draft

I have DirecTV, but no cable/internet (lousy cheap <companies>). The cable/verizon companies refuse to come out to my area because they conveniently greased the palms of the local gub'ment officials. But I digress. It certainly makes it harder to want service when they keep taking channels away. Fox sports world went long ago, and that was an awesome channel (if you watch non-american sports). But then again, satellite internet SUCKS. So I am stuck between <whining> at verizon and comcast to bring high-speed my way, yet wanting DirecTV for NFL network.

Brighthouse has never even carried the NFL network in Florida. I'm waiting for AT&T's cable (AT&T U-verse) to become available in Orlando.

Any reason why you guys aren't interested in Directv? You can also get the NFL Sunday Ticket which is good for anyone outside the Baltimore market (or market of your team).

i would, but from what i understand weather plays a major role in how the picture and what not is... and it rains alot here lol, i want to get it, and my parents are like "Digital Cable is just as good" and i was like UGH!!
Edit:
however, my father has considered it seeing as the eagles get like 4 games here.... + primetime/playoff games but he'd rather go to some place like duffy's where there are just as many other crazy fans.... i go sometimes, if i have money

Satellite reception kinda blows where I live. the woman who lives below me is cancelling her directv because it never works.

True, depending on the cloud conditions the reception can suffer. I usually only have issues about 2-3 times per year though and I MUST HAVE the NFL Sunday Ticket.

NFL Network (and YES network) cost me nothing additional.

I only ever had issues with DirectTv in windy down pours/thunder storms. But I have FIOS now, Comcast can take a hike.
