Orlando Pace Rumors & Updates

He was tempting because of his past, but once you get over his name, he is a 33-year-old LT who never played RT and has been injury prone for 3-4 years. I'll stick with Willie and a young T in the draft.

Same here. But, I was largely indifferent to the prospect of signing Pace anyway; if he was signed, whatever, and if not (as in this case) then oh well. This just makes Willie Anderson more of a "priority" to be brought back in addition to the drafting of a tackle.

I believe he's still mulling retirement (but is leaning towards returning), and his status with the team is unknown since he may be cut due to his pending cap figure and age.

This isn't a mind-blowing update, but I thought this was interesting:
Baltimore offered more money, but Pace wanted to play left tackle, and the Ravens wanted him on the right side. The Bears accommodated his wish by moving 2008 first-round pick Chris Williams to the right side.
At least we know the Ravens actually tried, as opposed to just flirting with the idea of bringing Pace in. The fact that the team was willing to pay for a player they wanted, shows that: 1) they did their homework on the guy given his injury history, and 2) they definitely wanted to come into the draft with no glaring holes.

And not even a week after Pace's signing with the Bears, the Ravens are still in good shape heading into the draft.
