My Realistic (imo) Dream Picks For Rounds 1 & 2

13 posts in this topic

I would LOVE if the Ravens drafted USC linebacker Rey Maualuga. He is a great player and with the corner postition already having been addressed (sort of) that makes this one of, if not our biggest needs. But it'll be tricky to now if he'll be avaliable, because from what i understand there are three teams ahead of us who could take him.

Denver, San Diego, and New England. It all depends on what happens with BJ Raji, really. If Raji falls down to Denver, they will take him, and San Diego in turn would pick Tyson Jackson (the chargers could also go with a tackle, but lets just say for giggles that they want to go defensive). This would most likely cause Maualuga to fall down the board, with New England staring him down. We would simply have to trade a few spots up ahead of New England to grab him!

However, if Raji is taken by the Browns, Bengals, or Packers, then I think that Maualuga or Tyson Jackson becomes the top target for Denver. And San Diego would take whomever was left between the two of them (again, assuming they wanted to go defensive). Which would mean that we would have to trade into the top half of the draft ahead of Denver :(

So lets hope Raji gets taken by Denver.

So round 1=Maualuga /and round 2= a wide reciever. I have a feeling both Kenny Britt and Brian Robiskie will fall into the second. so any team looking for a reciever could take Britt or Robiskie first, and whoever's left may fall to us.

Any thoughts?

Well I think you can scratch off the Patriots because theyre close to trading for Julius Peppers and he will play OLB in their 3-4

The only way the Ravens get Maualuga is to trade up - he'll never last until #26. I know that BPA is the most logical method of drafting, but if we're talking about need, I think WR and OL are the biggest needs for the Ravens. Birk is no youngster.

We could use another WR, but its not neccesarily a first round need. Birk is old, but will be here 2-3 years. Enought times to develop another center.

i highly doubt robiskie would make it past the raiders, falcons, or eagles in the second round... we'd either have to trade down w/ our first pick... or trade up w/ another

if the browns pass on crabtree in the first round, i actually see them trying to grab robiskie in 2. there's a lot of talk that edwards may be traded, but even if he's not, WR is still a need. robiskie is also from the cleveland area and attended ohio state......not to mention his value at the browns 2nd round pick is HUGE.

If we don't draft Heyward Bey, there is a chance that he, Kenny Britt and Robiskie will all fall into the second round. Any of those three would be good fits in Baltimore.

but i don't see DHB, britt, or robiskie lasting until the ravens 2nd round pick. they'll all probably be gone within the first 15 picks of round 2, but probably sooner than that

According to Adam Schefter that Peppers to Patriots trade is a big rumor and he's 99.9% sure it's not going to happen.

I'm actually not to fond of Rey Maualuga. USC has been my favorite team to watch in college football for as long as I have been watching football. I understand he is a huge hitter and plays the run well but there is just something about him. He also plays on the USC defence where he is surrounded by talent which masks his mistakes. My opinion might be altered because of the way he embarassed himself when he missed a tackle on Jaquizz Rodgers in the Oregan State game.
Plus I really don't think that is what we should adress with our first pick. We can either start Gooden or shuffle the linebackers around and be fine. I do like the idea of reciever in the second round though. Does anyone think it is possible to trade our first round pick for two of the patriots second round picks?

That would be AWESOME!

According to the NFL Trade Value chart for draft picks their 47th and 58th picks in the 2nd round would total 750 points. Our 26th overall in the 1st round totals 700 points. To put that into perspective the 23rd over all pick is worth 760 and the 24th is worth 740.

But...I don't know if they would want to sacrifice one of their 1st day talents to make that happen. But maybe?

Yeah that is what I have been hoping happens. I think it would be better for us to have 3 second round picks then a first and a second. If we got the 47th pick and adressed reciever Nicks and Bey would be gone but we could prolly grab a premium second rate guy like Britt or Robiske.
With the other two go either BPA or maybe grab someone like Alphonso Smith for CB depth if he falls that far. Another player I kinda like is Darry Beckwith from LSU....

BTW when I posted that I hoped someone would check the value chart haha
