Positives Of The Games

17 posts in this topic

ok its pretty easy to point out the negatives such as playcalling, injuries, refs, etc. But there were some positives to get out of this game.

Most teams with 6 turnovers would be blown out of the water. The team fought hard even took a brief lead, and made it a game till the end. And our special teams was simply amazing! Ed Reed continues to build up his hall of fame resume.

McGahee and Musu did some serious running. I think the fact that the team came back from that awful first quarter and did not give up is a huge plus.

Our running game was phenomental

Special Teams were phenomental

Defense met expectations

Demetrius Williams looks like a real weapon

Our fullbacks looked good

Mason is playing like the first year we got him

Ed Reed is back

Steve McNair is performing the same as last year

I'm glad you asked for the positives, Ravens fans are so passionate about their team and we need a cool forum.

Yeah I'm impressed (if that's the right word for this game) with how close it was despite the 6 turnovers/pass interference call. Running game actually looked good at times, just wish Billick had used it more.

yea, the Ravens Offense was getting those yards (our Offense had more yards than Cinci's Offense did) our Running game was, yes, Phenominal,McGahee and Smith both proved to be a powerful 1-2 punch....the Recievers were doing there jobs and getting those yards (except for a few plays in which the ball was thrown right to them and they dropped it)....if you take away the Penalties and fumbles, we had a decent game, and it didnt help that the ref's wer against us in that one, that Boller and Heap catch in the Endzone, should have been a TD, i didnt see anything like "offensive Pass interference" what so ever, we were battling the Refs the whole game....i hate it when that happens....Ray Lewis was flying around on the field tackling EVERYONE, might of had about 10 tackles or so, not sure, and Ed Reed on the Punt Return was phenominal, our defnse did its job.....only 3 bengal Offensive points... that were EARNED, the other 24 points were all un-earned, we just got to learn and focus on playing alot better in carrying the Football and not fumbling it is all

Huh?

Our running game was average. (C+ is generous) Except Musa, who gets an A.

And Mcnair played the worst game of his career (his third consective poor game). (F)

On the other hand, our Defense kept the game from getting away in the first half, and shut down Palmer in the second. (B+)

Special Teams (A+++)

McNair's game was MUCH better than it SHOULD have gone. His groin was injured from the first quarter on and he still made plays to keep us in it and allow our defense to catch a break.

Demetrius Williams!!!!! what can I say? he was a BEAST every chance he had.

Mason still looks good, the clutch 3rd down catches are always nice.

Heap got robbed of a game-tying TD in a game which should have been NO WHERE NEAR tied.

McGahee and Musa each averaged over 4 yards per carry, better than we all expected after that preseason. The screen play looked pretty crisp as well, possibly something to include more often in the offensive scheme.

Our DEFENSE was freaking AMAZING. Considering the 4-5 turnovers in the first half, giving the Bengals great field position, and STILL holding them to 9 is amazing.

Ray Ray still has cojones, playing with an injured arm and still beastin up the field throwin tackles left and right.

We held Palmer to 50 yards in the 2nd half until we screwed up again and gave them the ball at like the 30. until they scored in the 2nd half, Palmer had 4 yards passing.

Is it just me or did our o-line look a little better without JO? I think McNair (who may not have been sacked much but still got HIT LIKE 8 TIMES) got rushed a lot more with J.O. on the left. The rookie with Terry at least looked capable. Ogden shouldn't have started, as his injury obviously hasn't recovered all the way.

Ed Reed still looks in pro-bowl form and obviously remains firmly in the hearts of us fans with his big plays.

BJ Sams was doing great for our return game before his injury.

Boller DID GET THE JOB DONE....the first time....only the refs stole it from him. The second attempt to get in shouldve included some run plays.

WE CAME BACK. How many times in the NFL do you see a team give it up 5-6 times and still be within a touchdown of the lead at the end? Or even have the lead at all during any point in the game? Cmon people the Ravens have talent on both sides of the ball. The monday night jitters may have gotten to them but Ill be damned if we still arent superbowl contenders.

I say, by week 6 this will be ancient history. Look for the Ravens to come out of the gate ready to redeem themselves for mistakes that shouldve been left behind in the preseason.

On a side note, Im glad someone started this thread, im getting mad at how quick tihis MB is to turn on its team. idc if Baltimores going through a sports drought with the O's crappin it up but cmon, the Ravens aren't a pushover and will continue to give us great games to watch throughout this year.

There were quite a few positives:

- Demetrius Williams is a freak with some serious hops and hands. The teams needs to get the ball into his hands.

- Willis McGahee is definitely an upgrade from J-Lew. He shifty, fast and is a better receiver.

- Musa Smith is a quality back-up.

- The o-line is really good at run-blocking(Neither J.O. or 1st round pick Ben Grubbs played)

- The d-line will be just as good as last year.

- Jarrett Johnson did pretty well in his first game to replace to A.D.

- Ed Reed looks like he's back to his 2004 form.

- Samari Rolle looks like he wants bury memories of last year. He gave up a few short balls but played very well in run-support and laid out Hoshmanzadeh.

I'm impressed with McNair's ability to fumble the ball and to throw interceptions. I was also impressed with the ravens O-Line and its ability to welcome pass rushers accross the line of scrimmage. Great job by the offense and the offensive play calling, which was incredible  .

Oh yeah Kyle Boller did good.

First pass Mason caught, Second pass Demetrius dropped, Third pass McClain dropped, Fourth pass was a TD, Fifth pass Heap dropped.
