thats great if you are home, but the vast majority of breakins happen when the house is empty...

And in this case as well as the case of my neighbors whom I just found out got robbed as well...the thieves seem to be casing the houses. They seem to know exactly when no one will be home and for how long.

My parents don't lock the front or back door of our house.... ever. We do live on the eastern shore where its not very populated, but still....

We have had dogs that roam the house, a Black lab and a Rottweiler that is about 140 pounds. We have never had a problem, but it always worried me lol. I never leave my car unlocked or my dorm room, very worried about theft.

A crook breaking into my house would get freakin run over, hubby leaves at 630, kids 715, I take my son to work between 9 and 11, kids home between 230 and 3 hubby home at 6, pick up son at work around 7, then the assorted sports and scouts from 5 to 10. No really set time but school and work. I'm not a fan of locking the front or back doors, since I have a 6 foot privacy fence and security cameras.

the people down the street from me that got robbed have a 9ft privacy fence and an alarm system. They forgot to arm it the day they got robbed, and I cant figure out how they got 3 50"+ plasmas over a 9 ft fence.

And you could be home for 23 1/2 hours a day and if someone wanted to break in bad enough theyd case your place and figure out when u leave and how long you're gone. Sounds like you guys have a pretty regular routine.

Doesn't matter. I find that women just do that. I've begged Ana to please lock the Chrysler, even in our driveway.

Also, depending on where you are you need to put valuables out of view (Ipods, cell phones and nav systems). We've been experiencing hoods from New Yawk coming down the Pike, doing a smash and grab, then heading back to New Yawk.

I always lock my doors. The dog and I are both light sleepers and even though he his a lab, he is smart and very protective. I also have a couple of .... "tools" at my immediate disposal in the event of any undesirable close encounters.

I shouldn't neglect to point out that the next town over (whose border is within one mile) has had an influx of criminal activity by their recent addition of criminal citizenship.

Nope, my son likes to fix things that are electronic including cameras and wire things in, We have our own "intranet" with camera's in each of our bunnies cages, we call it bunny cam. He has a central DVD player set up so everyone can watch the same movie on every TV in the house, remote wireless light switches, now he is trying to wire a camera to run on a solar cell because I have been squawking about the BG&E bill.`
Our camera's actually record to a hard drive.
The fence in the back is to keep the neighborhood poop machines out.

The stuff he rigs up for holidays are pretty incredible too.

It took three weeks and they finally called me to say they were sending out a check. The amount seems a little low to me so I cant wait to see what kind of value they put on my stuff.
