Getting your house broken into and finding your laptop, plasma tv, ps3, xbox360, ipods, cameras, etc all gone

Good news on your laptop, PS3, and XBox 360: if you still have the serial numbers (or in the case of your PS3 and 360, your gamertags) you can contact the manufacturers or give the information to police, and they can find your stuff whenever any of those three items are detected online.

I almost guarantee that if they can get at least one hit for any of those three items, they'll be able to recover the rest of your stuff as well.

yaeh, thats the upside. I have all the serial numbers... The downside is the unlikely recovery of the 50,000+ pictures on the laptop...and the creepy feeling that someone was in your house.

I know...When the crime lab got there, within 15 minutes they had 4 calls for Breaking and Entering within a 5 mile radius of my house

Some punk broke into my truck (shattering my driver's side window) while it was at the Timonium light rail yesterday. Now I am worried he got my address and will be paying a visit soon. He better hope I am not at home if and when he does, or there will be a 12 gauge slug between his eyes.

Such a shame. I grew up in the Lutherville Timonium area. It was nice back then. Then the light rail and section 8 came and crime skyrocketed.

better watch what you say. Knowing how bass ackwards this world has become, someone could come forward and say they broke into your truck and try to sue you for threatening their life...its ridiculous.

Sorry to hear about that. It truly sucks.

about a year ago my wife and I became addicted to the show "It Takes A Thief" Basicaly a retired thief breks into a house (with homeowners approval) and they expose the houses weak points, and then set them up with a bunch of neat security itmes. The point was not so much to make your house a fortress, but to make it LESS desireable than the house next door. Thieves are lazy. They want the east in and easy out with the least amount of attention.

Not a lot of money and not a lot of time and I have a pretty high confidance level with where we are at. Again its not a fortrace but it is not an easy task.

 I'd kill someone.

I'm very sorry to hear that. I hope you get it all squared away with as little cost and head-ache as possible.

Glad I just saw this I went to Wegmans tonite  Sometimes people suck.

The subway destroyed Owings Mills town center and the area around it. Thats why the carnival went away too.

I always store my photos remotely as soon as I download them. I had a hard drive flame out and lost the last Christmas my grandparents had with us. They lived several years longer but Alzheimer's took my grandmothers memory and mobility and she was in a nursing home.

dude that sucks that your stuff got robbed, makes you wonder what ppl will do these days, oddly enough im not a violent person, but i guess some sort of reputation i got in H.S. (idk what) is keeping ppl from messing with my house, my next door neighbor had his lap top stolen from his truck, neighbor across the street was a victim of the drive by taking mail boxes out, and both next door neighbors and one across the street were "victim" to ding dong ditch.... which is harmless but in the neighborhood i live in stuff escalates

The problem we have in my neighborhood is "outsiders". They live a 3 miles or so away, a friend of mine who works with law enforcement says 'ner do wells don't like to foul their own dens. I live in such a horrible neighborhood I left my cell phone plugged in on the dash in my un locked van for a week:lol: I've left wallet on the front seat, and I keep change in my ashtray-- I would do horrible in a bad neighbor hood. I do know I need to be more careful especially in these economic times because desperation drives people to do stupid stuff.

I will never forget my husband had his GEO Metro broken into in the late '90's and they took his laptop case out of the car and bag cell phone, they saw all these cell phone antenna's stick out of the bag and thought they hit jackpot. The antenna's were pens he got at a conference  they were so pissed they left a trail of pens to their car--where the cops found them. It was great.

Your story doesn't surprise me. My parents lived in some crappy neighborhoods in Phoenix and never had a problem. The one area that made them have to install a car alarm? Being right next to Scottsdale, which is known for being rather upscale. It turns out the rich kids that live there get bored and decide to go and break into cars and stuff because even if they get caught, daddy will take care of them

I'm willing to bet if I moved out of PG County and lived in Anne Arundel or Montgomery County I'd have more problems with people trying to break into my car and house.

 That totally sounds like that neighborhood I described. I joked that we were considered "white trash" because we drove a silver honda civic instead of a black Lexus SUV or black Hummer. Why these people thought having a black car in the middle of a desert was a great idea is beyond me, that stuff heats up!

I refuse to be car and house poor. There is nothing wrong with living within your means. I would rather have the money we would dump into a McMansion to travel and pay cash for my kids college. My son just got ribbed all the time about the truck we got him for his 16th birthday--a 2 seater Toyota that is older them him--its a 1986 with 70K miles on it. We bought it from a friend of my dads, garage kept. He loves it, but its not a Civic or Cobalt or cute little SUV wanna be that his friends drive. No one will steal the radio out of that thing--it still has knobs!!!

lol, that what I was hoping with my car. Its a 2000 Neon with steel wheel, no hubcaps, and just about every body panel including the hood and trunk is dented. Yet, it still got stolen....I guess some drug runner needed some wheels, or maybe a gang initiation bcuz its so easy to steal. Anyways, they caught those people...Havent caught the ppl who got into my house yet though.

My girlfriend's car was broken into the other day. They took all of her CDs (most of which were burned) and my GPS, but they left the charger and windshield attachment for it. That's the last time she leaves her car unlocked.

ugh, left the car unlocked?

I was just in lancaster over the weekend and we were eating at cracker barrell. When I took the kids out to the van to leave my 4 y/o walked up to a van that was 2 spots down from our thinking it was ours. He pulled on the passenger door and I told him to stop, thats not our van. To my surprise, the door opened and there was a nice gps on the dash, TURNED ON. I hit the lock button for them and closed the door QUICKLY, lol...
