I used to when I was younger. I was a beast at hitting, and I was a great fielder. But around the time Mike Mussina got hit by a line drive back to the mound and got his face taken off. I turned into a bad batter, I kept picturing what happened to him while I was in the batters box and was more concentrated on not getting hit by a pitch than hitting the ball.

I was in little league, and this one team (Rangers) had a kid who was HUGE for a little leaguer. All he could do was throw hard, but at that age accuracy isn't exactly common. I got plunked by that kid alone at least five times, including two to the helmet. I was terrified of the ball ever since then, and never played past little league.

I remember as soon as you got to the age where there were pictures on the mound, they took the mask off the helmets. Didn't make sence to me.
