Guess what? If the player is a free agent, then he is not ours to claim! Plus we need a DE that can actually apply pressure on the QB!

He also talked to Matt Stover before they signed a kicker. Rumors are that he wants to aquire Troy Smith from us in a trade. Ya know Rex, There are 30 other teams out there besides the two of us. Steal Streelers players!! They just won the freakin Superbowl and it feels like no one really wants any of their players minus Bryant McFadden. If he took some players from our rivals instead of from us, we might be willing to help him out with off-season deals.

I'm surprised no one said anything when Phil Savage took away Jamal Lewis, Gary Baxter, Darnell Dinkins, Dave Zastudil, and Derek Anderson when he was the Browns' GM.

Familiarity will always lead to players from one team flocking to another. Of course Rex Ryan will go after players on the Ravens roster; he's coached these guys for years and he knows their strengths and weaknesses.

It happens league-wide.

This trend is nothing new, and it's just business. Granted, there's obviously a personal aspect to it, but it's not like Rex Ryan is thinking, "Hmm, I wonder how I can ruin my former team? Oh, I know! I'll steal all of their players! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" <_<

Yeah and it hasn't exactly worked out great for them. For some reason ex Ravens don't do all that well when they leave town. Whether due to injury or they let up now that they got their big payday they just don't seem to do all that well for their next team. Look at the list...Gary Baxter (injury), Jamal Lewis (1 good year), Zastudil (pretty solid), A Thomas (sub par last year for New England), Edgerton Hartwell (never heard of him after he left). I'm sure theres more that I'm not thinking of. Anyone else notice this?

True. But 98% of the time, there's no real sabotage in cases like this because emotions cloud judgment. You never mix emotions with business, and when you do, you tread lightly or fall hard.

LOL

It seems like half the people on this site seem to think Rex is the only guy that does this. Every coach does this.

Mangini has already signed two former Jets (Hank Poteat and C.J. Mosely) and he's brought in Eric Barton for a visit.

Parcells constantly raided his former teams whenever he left. This is extremely common in the NFL.

Shhhh...that same half won't believe you in spite of the evidence, just because you're a Jets fan. They'll think you said it out of bias. Shhhhhhhhhhhhhh... ;)

The only Steelers players he took that I remember being on the Cardinals' Super Bowl squad were LB Clark Haggans and backup QB Brian St. Pierre.

The Cards have signed:

QB Brian St. Pierre
LB Clark Haggans
WR Sean Morey
TE Jerame Tuman

and, most recently:

CB Bryant McFadden.

Wow Hank Poteat and CJ Moseley. Big names there, huh? That's two people. Rex has already stolen Leonhard and Scott and is on his way to stealing Boller or Troy.

The trend of players leaving the Ravens' defense and getting big contracts from other teams, then they end up being flops is not new. Look at Will Demps, he got a huge deal after leaving the Ravens and was an absolute bust. Ed Hartwell is another, and to some extent Adalius Thomas. If the trend continues, Bart will get hurt and miss half the season and Jim won't be effective.

The Jets can't steal Boller; you can't steal a free agent after all. ;)

And since when is Leonhard a big name? The guy just signed a 3 year, $6 million dollar deal. That's backup money.

Also, zero chance we pursue either Boller or Troy Smith. Zero.

If it is so common then why is there not a single player from Philly on our team?Harbs took us to the AFC title game without any players from his former team.I know it does happen but it doesn't always work!!!

On the radio they said the Jets might get Torry Holt if he becomes a free agent because he worked with their Offensive Coordinator and still have a lot of cap room.

I wouldn't completely rule out Troy Smith just yet.

Mangini just signed another Jet, David Bowens and gave our safety Abram Elam an offer sheet.

Again, this happens all the time.
