The Scoop: Met Joe Flacco & His Agent

154 posts in this topic

Well today I got the rare opportunity of meeting THE Bazooka, arm cannon, unibrowin', gunslinging, rookie of the year winning Joe Flacco and yes it was as great as you imagine. There was also other players, like Musa Smith and many many others. (if anyone of you true Ravens fans remember) Also the Eagles Mascot was there SWOOP!. I also got an opportunity to speak with Joe's agent and do I got some news for ya'll!

Here's the dish:
- Tory Holt was at our facilities today and word has it that he looked really good.
- Karl Paymah had an awful workout with us and he will not be a Raven. "Harbs didn't like em'"
- He stressed that Dom (Foxworth) is going to be a BEAST!
- He is also Matt Birk's agent ironically enough so I got the dish on him. And he believes not only does he have 2 good year in him but 3-4 more! "His work ethic is freaking incredible and hes a genuine nice guy"
-Suggs has gained some weight which is supposedly good news and so has Gooden. Tavares seems to be the front runner to fill up Bart Scott's job.
- Ray Lewis received no offers by any team except the Ravens (Go Figure)
- And the most shocking news of the night is; The Jets are going to make a push to trade for TROY SMITH! Not only is JL Joe's agent but hes also Troy's agent. He said the Jets are going to try to trade for him during the draft. "Rex Loves Troy"

Well I had a blast and I got some gossip. Here are just some pictures.

"Tory Holt was at our facilities today and word has it that he looked really good"

Mystery receiver solved!!! How can a player for another team work out at another team's facility? That doesn't make sense to me.
Holt, Mason, Clayton, Williams, Nicks = BEAST

"And the most shocking news of the night is; The Jets are going to make a push to trade for TROY SMITH! Not only is JL Joe's agent but hes also Troy's agent. He said the Jets are going to try to trade for him during the draft. "Rex Loves Troy"

That is VERY VERY interesting. I'd want a 3rd round pick for him though. No wait, I like the Suggs package, no deal Rex. The Jets might as well add purple to their color scheme that is ridiculous.

you know what i hope troy goes to the jets and i will be one of the 1st to get a jets troy smith jersey. (slap) i mean no troy smith will not further his career. he needs to stay in bmore where we have no need for him and have him ride the pine. that is the only way that we can prove who the best qb is DUH.

anyways now that im done be stupid. i think that we should trade troy and try and get some draft picks from rex. i mean troy needs to go some where to play and where else is he going to get the chance to start. plus i think that we could get some great draft picks for him im thinking like maybe a 2nd rounder if we play rex correctly.

The thing about Troy and the Jets (besides the whole Rex is stealing all our players thing) with Boller looking at the Raiders, this leaves us without a backup.

True, but I'm not feeling much sympathy for the Jets because they keep trying to pirate all of our players. We don't want a loser for backup and Troy Smith is potentially very good.

Troy Smith's contract will be up next year and I think we ran the "Suggs Package" just to get Troy involved, for excitement, or just because we could. We could always get Pat White, as a WVU Mountaineer, I would love that!! We also have Mark Clayton who played QB in college and can be used the same way Troy was.

Ive been saying all the time Tory Holy would be a nice fit here and i hope you are right and they bring him here. He reminds me D-mase when the titans released him. That guy always has production. GODD I hope you are right! And i about troy i really think we need to keep him at lease thru next year because to be honest we dont know whats going to happen to joe flacco.

I think Holt would be a good pickup for the Ravens. He is only 32 on his 11th season. That is not to old for a WR. I am sure he has still got some left in the tank. I really do think he would not be asking for to much money. I mean back when Warner was his QB and the Rams were good, he may of asked for a lot mof money, but the past couple of years the Rams have been on a downcline which would bode well in our favor if we were to try to pick up Holt.

Trading Troy Smith would be a mistake unless it was for a 2nd or 3rd round draft pick, but still...no way in HELL should we trade our only backup!

What if something happens to Flacco? Then what? We're stuck with a rookie draft pick as a backup ? For the rest of the season ? Only way I'd feel safe with trading Troy would be if we brought in a veteran backup like Garcia or Byron Leftwhich b4 hand. Not Boller. Well...maybe Boller if we couldn't find anyone else. Plus, why would we want to make the Jets stronger? Troy Smith is going to be a beast in this league once given the chance to be a starter.

Screw that! The Jets will become one of the best defenses in this league this year. If they draft a 3-4 DE like Tyson Jackson in the 1st they're going to be a top 5 defense. Mark my words. If they get a play making QB like Troy...

Put it to ya this way, I wouldn't want to see em in the playoffs on a regular basis. What if the Jets get T.O.!?!?

keep dreaming if you think the Jets will give up a 2nd round pick for Smith.....the Chiefs gave up a 2nd round pick (for a proven Starting QB in Cassell and Mike Vrebel)....the Ravens would be lucky to get a 4th for Smith......

I don't know about trading Troy. I don't like that idea at all. Though Troy might like the idea since we have a 'franchise' QB now. Still don't like it, I like Troy right where he is.

Great pics, lucky bum. lol

Dont trade Troy Smith, the few plays he was in keep the defense guessing and the Ravens dont need to give that up. I just wish we would have used to Suggs package in more games that mattered.

Once upon a time, our starting Qb was injured, the back-up was sick, and we were stuck with a rookie draft pick; he turned out to be pretty good.

I agree with you though. If we draft another qb it won't be in the first round since we have our franchise qb, which means we'll probably be left with ones that no one really wants.

What makes u think they will be a top 5 defense this year. Signing Bart Scott, Jimmy Leonhart, Corey Ivy, and Marques Dougless doesn't add up to a top 5 defense. I have no doubt that they will be a pretty good defense but to say they will be top 5 is a bit of wishful thinking.

I know many will say that Rex will make them great like he made us great, but it wasn't Rex that made of a great D. All Rex had to do was maintain a defensive excellence. He did nothing with us that Marvin Lewis didn't do, or Mike Nolan didn't do. Ozzie and this FO supplied him with great talent and he put them in position to succeed. Leading the Ravens defense to a top 5 ranking doesn't make u a good head coach. Just like coaching under Billichek doesn't make u a good head coach.

Also if the JETS do pick up T.O who would throw the ball to him? We all know that Rex is a players coach and was well respected for it, but who's to say T.O would respect him anymore then he did Andy Ried, or Wade Phillps or any other coach that has come across his path.

Getting a coach from the Ravens and raiding our roster doesn't mean u will be able to play with the same passion and toughness as the Ravens. If the JETS are thinking that then they have another thing coming. Just ask the Browns how that worked out for them. Phil Savage,Darnell Dinkins,Jamal Lewis,Gary Baxter,Dave Zastudil,Josh Harris, and Derek Anderson couldn't make the Browns any better off. Everyone thought Phil would take to the Browns what we have here, but it's not that simple.

I don't knock Rex or blame him for trying to improve his team. However it will take a whole lot more then just signing some former players of the Ravens to make the Jets a great team and organization.

Troy is a goner. Whether he's gonna go to the Jets i don't know but we all know that Joe is our franchise QB and Troy is simply too good to be a backup. And why not trade him now? This is his final year, he will become a free agent in 2010, then we would get nothing at all for him. So trade him now to the Jets for a 4th or 5th round pick and a conditional draft pick in 2010 (depending on how he performs) and then lets move on, draft another QB in the 4th or 5th round, like Rhett Bomar or something and then sign a veteran QB to be our backup. Maybe even Kyle Boller. Flacco is very reliable and tough, i don't expect him to miss any playing time.

It cost us a time out everytime Troy stepped on the field.

I really dont want Troy to leave, but I would definitely be happy for him if he went to the Jets and made a name of himself.

No way do we trade troy!!! You can never predict if( God forbid) Joe gets hurt and we are stuck without quality back up.The season would be over.Keep troy and draft a mid to late round project Qb and let him learn from Joe and Troy for a year.It is not worth trading troy for a late round pick only to have to use it on a different rookie with no experience the importance of a good Quality QB is too often overlooked.Plus I hate Rex now.Just kiding but I am a little p-off that he is taking every player that he can from the ravens.Rex go get your own players in the draft and leave ours alone.

I think we as Ravens fan might be valuing Troy a little more then other NFL personell will. I definately think Troy has what it takes to be a quality NFL QB, but unless he has a tremendous showing in the preseason i don't see many teams knockin our door down to Trade for Troy.

Troy Smith is an great talent and i'm sure Cam will continue to find a way to use him. I wouldn't be surprised to see Troy used on screens, quick screens, or just some plan WR routes. He will have the chance to throw the football and he has great leadership ability, unfortunate for him Joe step up and took his place as Baltimore's Future.

Most of what Troy has done for us has been done with his feet. I think that will be his best asset and he would be smart to do anything that would get him on the field more this season. I think Troy will be a RFA next season and i beleive the Ravens will want to keep him around. So if they do trade him they will look to get some good value for him.

Torry Holt hasn't been released yet....I'm pretty sure it would be against nfl rules to have another teams player checking out our facility.
