Boller Visits The Raiders

As reported in a quick blurb by [url="http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/2009/03/boller-visits-the-raiders/"]The National Football Post[/url], Kyle Boller recently took a visit with the Oakland Raiders.

With former 1st-overall selection JaMarcus Russell slotted in as the starter, free agent pick-up Bruce Gradkowski (formerly of the Buccaneers) and Andrew Walter are still under contract.

If Boller signs with the Raiders, you have to believe that Andrew Walter is probably gone as the backup -- and the QB situation will get even more interesting if JaMarcus Russell gets injured or benched in only his third season in the league (his second as the starter).

I recall a lot of people here saying that Boller would likely get another chance to start elsewhere. But with the number of teams that have either signed a free agent QB, traded for one, or have announced their intentions to draft one, it looks as if Boller won't have as easy a road into another starting job as once thought.

Please Kyle don't go to Oakland. He deserves much better than that. Boller is a capable starter, he just needs an offensive line to protect him and some WRs to throw to. Hey guys how about this scenario, Kyle Boller to the RAMS! That would be funny, I wonder if Jason Brown would trash talk about him if they became team mates in St. Louis. Here are the teams I would like to see pick up Boller:

- St. Louis: Just for the whole fact of Brown opening his mouth and talking trash about him and to watch Brown back peddle and say how he didn't mean it when/if they became team mates again.

- New England: Ok there are other places he could go but NE may need a backup just in case Brady can't go; and Boller wouldn't be that bad in NE.

- San Fran: Unforunately this might be a bad place since they hope Stafford falls to him. But this is also a place where he could start if they don't get Stafford.

- Tampa Bay: They still don't have a QB, and I don't think Luke McCown is the answer. Boller would provide some depth plus he has the BEST opportunity to start.

- Carolina: Ok, I'm playing a little bit favoritism here since I live in NC. But Jake Delhomme doesn't have a good back up. Plus I hear there are some fans who want a new QB under center in Carolina. So Kyle can provide depth and MAYBE take over from Jake Delhomme.

Best Scenario: Tampa Bay. That is probably the best chance he has to start. With Luke McCown looking as the starter heading to the draft, only Brian Griese is the other QB. I believe if Tampa signed Boller, Boller would become the starter by the end of Training Camp. Tampa did lock up their WR core by re-signing Bryant and Clayton. I believe they grab Percy Harvin to give whoever the QB will be another weapon. (I completed my Mock Draft 2.0 and I moved Harvin up from Miami to Tampa.)

I will always have a special place in my heart for Kyle Boller, but good riddance. I hope that he finds a place where he can have a spot to start, and I do think the best place for that is TB. If Gruden were still there, maybe he could knock some sense into him.

he was always avg. plus he had a torn labrum last season.... i dont think he will make another start in the league

I didnt think boller would find a job as a starter elsewhere, I believe the guy is a solid backup, and thats about it... Hes just not cut out for a starter.

I believe Bouman is planned to be resigned cheaply at 3rd string. is there any confirmation on that yet?

so since most of the network talking heads think that TO is going to the Raiders, this "highlight on sportscenter is well within the realm of possibility"

Week 16. The Broncos defense need to keep Oakland out of the endzone to clinch the AFC West. 3rd and 19 from midfield.

Kyle Boller drops back and trips over his own feet and falls (we have all seen him do that plenty), Gets to his knees and throws a bomb (i think he was rumored to be able to do that from 60 yards out), to a leaping TO in the endzone for the touchdown and the win.

San Diego Superchargers once again squeak into the playoffs with a 9 win season.

I am almost giddy thinking about it.

If there's another QB competition at training camp for starting, so long as Flacco hasn't lost his intensity, Boller won't be the starter
