LATER ROLLE!!!! THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICES............. this move makes me question if we will even go CB in the draft. Well, what these last 3 signings do is even us out with vet leadership at 2 crucial areas on O and D. Also providing us enough depth at CB to give us the oppertunity to safely go BPA pretty much the whose draft. True we do have concerns still(imo WR/TE/DE) but aside from WR nothing too serious. So stick with your formula OZ! BPA is for a strong future!
were not going to cut stone from one bad mistake. he contributed to our ST amazingly. hes fast and has great awareness, i would like to see him battle it out in training camp with dawan.... hes 6'3.. with speed and quickness ur bound to be a great player.. and i think stone is gonna impress most of u next season. just watch and see
I agree Stone did well for us last season. He just allowed the magnitude of the game to get the best of him in the AFC Championship. I would like to see all of the guys compete in camp. I think we have some great young talent and they all will battle to get on the field. We will probably allow ED to take it easy doing camp so that will give someone a chance to shine.

Stone,Zibby,Nakamura,Landry,Washington,Foxworth,Walker,Olgesby,Martin, and now Paymah, all of these guys are 27 or younger. So the Ravens have went from having a aging defense to a young bright secondary, added to a young talented LB crop, not to mention our best dlineman is only in his 4 year. I think training camp will be very exciting this season.

frank walker calmed u down???? and frank has played very well?????

he played aight. nothing great. He could develop into something decent if he learns to cover a man straight up instead of a little to much bumping
lol i just found a reason to bring it back up lol thats all

but no way in hades is he gonna be able to battle for the SS spot... he aint nothing special like that .... he'd have to pass up landry, nak, zibs to get that
i wouldnt say that just yet. haruki and zbii dont show me anything after watching film, haruki missed tackles and zbii being a little nervous back there on kickoffs, stone gives it his all.. when he got lights out in the afc game, he got right back out there and played.. yes stupid penalty, just shows he hates steelers lol.. but last seaosn is over with.. he can def compete with dawan... thank god dawan is recovering from his injury, they did say he would be fine to have contact for offseason program.. the only thing is dawan is a free agent... and with all these signings of corners it worries me if another team will try and pick up dawan with some good amount of money.. or trade with us for his 5th round pick... idk will c.. theres all kinds of questions to be asked to the FO lol and what they hell there plan is...
as of right now to me with signings of 2 corners, ray and matt birk our new C who is beast
werew gonna go strong in the draft with receivers, and defensive line

I think i'd rather see us get more cornerback depth in the draft at some point. We already have Foxworth, Washington, Walker, Martin, and Oglesby...

I don't think u have to worry about that. The Ravens will select a CB early in the draft imo. The thing is you don't wanna be in a position to have to count on or rely on the help of any rookie that is brought in. So instead of leaving yourself thin and just drafting talent, you add as much talent as u possibly can. Then in camp u allow these guys to compete and the better guys will see the field.

Remember a couple of years ago(07) when we had to rely on young guys like Prude,Pittman,Olesgby, and Martin. None of those guys should have been in position to see steady time in the Ravens secondary, but because we didn't have quality depth we were forced to play them.

So the more quality depth u can add the better. You don't wanna just hand anyone anything. So imo even Washington and Foxworth will be battling for playing time to some extent. If a kid like Alphsono Smith can come in and push them for playing time, then that is all the better.

different players thrive in different systems and situations.... that could very well be the case here, seeing how we nabbed Foxworth to start opposite of Washington (at least for the time being) who actually knows for certain whether or not he'll be the guy we can turn to when its needed most out there, with this new system and new team (talking from his perspective) he could very well see himself as a playmaker. Remember, its not always about the player(s) in a system, but the SYSTEM itself that enables to showcase their true qualities/talents.

Maybe just maybe this potential FA grab could turn out to be a huge gain for us and for a cheap price, whats not to love about this move, besdies the fact that there are the other CBs on the team that'll be mentoring him, the coaches and staff teaching him this and that..... and next thing we know.. BAM!!! he's now the starter and thriving. It could very well happen, it could very happen indeed with each system being presented and taught somewhat differently than the last, who knows for sure.

Right System... Right Price = a great player, but that is an answer that remains to be seen, this team is known for Defense and so i can expect him to get better almost immediately in practices, just being around our boys. being around that team togetherness.

and fyi- with Team officals making moves for C (Birk) and CB (Foxworth and bringing in this new guy) and not addressing our WR need, we could very well see our first overall pick, going to a WR.

Karl Paymah
Height: 6'0"
Weight: 204 lbs.

40 Low: 4.27
40 High: 4.46
40 Time: 4.35
225 Lb. Bench Reps: 16
Vertical Jump: 41.5"
Broad Jump: 10'05"
20 Yrd Shuttle: 3.91
3-Cone Drill: 6.75

While attending Culver City High School, Paymah was a two-sport standout in both football and track. In football, he won two varsity letters as both a wide receiver and a defensive back, and won first team All-Ocean League honors as a defensive back. In College, Karl Paymah attended Washington State University and was a letterman in football. In football, he ended his career there with three interceptions, 129 tackles, and 21 pass deflections.

In the Pros, he has 101 tackles 12 passes broken up and 3 INTs for 13 yards. His best day was last season against Miami. Paymah dominated the field with 13 tackles (12 of them solo), 2 passes deflected and 1 INT for 13 yards. He held Ted Ginn Jr. to only 3 catches for 38 yards and 0 TDs.

Eventhough Paymah is coming off a disappointing year with the Broncos (he lost his starting role to Josh Bell), I really like this guy. I feel he has a lot of potential if he's in the right situation and I feel he could be this year's diamond in the ruff just like how Jim Leonhard was for us last year. He was primarily used as a nickelback and special teamer. He got some experience this year when he filled in for Champ Bailey in 2 games. He might not be ready to start or the #1 CB, but he is great for depth. He will make an excellent nickle or dimeback and is hands down better than Evan Oglesby. He has limited experience in the return game, but he has the quickness and the speed to take over as the KR and PR.

Paymah was a brilliant move. Seriously.
He's the type of guy who will flourish here, and at worst be an excellent nickel, and has potential to be a very good #2.

He reminds me a lot of how Fabian Washington was before he came here. Except Paymah is 24 lbs heavier than Fabian. I'm not sure is he is a great tackler or not, but even if not he'll learn quick in Baltimore. Even Stover and our awesome punter Sam Koch know how to hit. On a NFL Network special about kickers, Stover and Koch were the only ones that didn't run away from a guy. Actually, they both ran right at them. Koch lit some dude up running down the sideline. It was great to see a punter jacked some dude up. Especially when they've got that Maryland crest hangin from their sleeve!

I remember that Koch hit it was hilarious

He does sound alot like fabion. His stats sound good and if it keeps Ivy off the field thats great. Dude couldn't cover a new born baby, but he sure can hit. Ivy belongs on speial teams not 3rd down.
wow. that would be awesome if we sign him. i dont understand why we sign Evan O. again.
Most likely to keep our CB pool deep. Plus, we never did see much of Evan, so you can't assume he was bad.

Since he played for Denver he probably didn't get the attention that he needed to develop his skill so we should get him. Wow Denver has a lot of Corners.

Looks more and more like we're going to trade Rolle at some point, maybe on draft day for a late round pick. Either that or he'll be released. I don't expect him back though.

It might have been Denver because their entire defense was horrible (like how Oakland thought it was all Fabian and not them). Denver had no pass rush, they were 26th in the league in sacks. Plus, I read Paymah was a Special teams ace and a hard hitting DB. Hitting? Yes, we like hitting!
I def think Scott is replacable. He is just a product of a good defensive scheme. He did the smartest thing he could do and that is to follow Rex over to the Jets. i really think if he went somewhere else with a completly differnt defense he would be just you avg LB. nothing special. Not saying that he is anything special now but i think he would be more ineffective if he did not follow Rex.
Haha I heard Rex might get Matt Stover now!

The Jets did make an offer to Stover but they have already resigned their kicker.

Is there any new word on Paymah?? I heard he is going to Minnesota next. Does he have a bunch of interviews scheduled and then he'll choose or is it if we were gonna sign him, we would have done it by now?

It seems that if a player flies down here, it's to get a contract not just a face to face interview. I guess he might be shopping around for the best offer too. Maybe he might get a chance to start in Minnesota or somewhere else.

si.com draft scouting report:

Karl Paymah Grade: 3.36
Position: CB
Class: Sr
School: Wash. St.
Conference: Pac-10
Ht., Wt.: 6-0, 204
40 Time: 4.4
Selected by: Denver Broncos
Round 3, pick 12 (76 overall) Grading System

BIO: Two-year starter who posted 35/2/8 as a senior after 55/1/10 the prior year.

POSITIVES: Physical cornerback with solid size/speed numbers. Good athlete who immediately transitions off the line with opponents, runs well laterally and is strong at the point of attack. Physical, works to break up the throw and also helps out in run defense. Very confident in his abilities. Solid special teams player.

NEGATIVES: Lacks the top plant and break on the throw. Does not display good body control. Not the most instinctive, late locating the ball and hesitant reacting in coverage. Does a lot of face guarding and slow getting his head back around.

ANALYSIS: A prospect well sized for press coverage, Paymah's best shot could be in a zone system where he is facing the action and can immediately find the ball. A solid athlete, he must improve his ball skills to have a chance at the next level.

PROJECTION: Late Sixth Round

Doesnt seem like he panned out in Denver if he was dropped after starting two games. Frank Walker clone IMO.
