I'm so sick of these negative people, tell me, what bad news have you seen??? Leonard??? Sorry we have two good back-ups and laundry. Scott, was not standout compared to Ray or Suggs, will be the next adialius thomas. Brown is the only real lost and with the cost that comes with him agian, not worth it. CMAC, too hurt to stay and to expensive, time to move to younger.

Actually, according to the free agency tracker, Maxwell is a pick up. They list his 2008 team as the Bengals. So in all honesty, we just brought in another WR and the Bengals lost another WR. Poor Cincinatti. Too bad they won't be able to get Michael Crabtree.

I know Oglesby was cheap, but was he the best CB out there? We couldn't spend another few houndred thousand more and get a guy who could surprise us. I'd rather re-sign Derrick Martin instead and get someone else later on in FA.

So with Rolle wanting out of Baltimore, we have Fabian and Foxworth starting with....Evan Oglesby and Anwar Phillips for depth? Holy crap where's the depth?!

It's good to bring back Oglesby, he is the young player who has seen the most playing time in our team since he's a rookie... i know he's not a star and he probably won't make a big difference while he will have some playing time but still, he has been on the team for some time now, he's cheap so it's a good thing to have him back.

Oglesby is 27 and he's not going to get much better than he is now. I think we've cut him 3 or 4 times over the years. He wasn't with us his rookie year, he was an undrafted rookie free agent signed by Buffalo in 2005. You might be thinking of Derrick Martin who we drafted in the 6th round in 2006. Martin is only 23, a 3 yr veteran in our system, a big time player on special teams, improves every year, and still has upside.

You guys have to understand that the more time we wait to sign big name guys like Ray, gives oppurtunity for other teams to make offers on him, so why would we want to sign him immediately when nobody else seems to want him?

The longer it takes to see the signing of Lewis the better, it means he'll be alot cheaper because nobody else is bidding on him.

Martin signed earlier, not tendered but with a one-year veterans minimum and I believe it was the same case with Oglesby. I don't see how it's bad to sign more depth, I'm sure there will be a good core of CB's in training camp fighting for one of the few positions, including draftees and undrafted free agents. Last season the Ravens carried 7 CB's on the roster and it proved to be needed. I hope they do the same this year. IMO it would be nice to have Washington, Foxworth, Walker, Martin, Oglesby and a veteran FA & a draft choice. One thing that I think is guaranteed is that there will be a fight to make the depth chart.

BTW, I agree with you 100% on Martin. He is only 23, a team veteran, a ST stand-out, physical, athletic and is continually improving.

I agree. From what I read, the fans were upset in Dallas when he was cut.

Actually, Maxwell was with the Ravens last year. In '07, he was with Cincy, and had his first (and only) career catch - for 5 yards...

But he's 6'3" tall and only 25 years old.

Walker is going to stay and so is Derrick Martin.

Speaking of Anwar Phillips, he might not be around next season:

I don't know that I would take a bloggers word as gospel. Until its proven and hits mainstream media, I don't think it should be taken as anything more than gossip and frankly is irresponsible to spread it. Those are some serious accusations and Phillips hasnt been found guilty of anything... and hopefully wont be. It's also obvious that the blogger isn't real versed in Phillips anyway, he is a practice squad guy that probably gets $5k a week during the season... that doesnt necessarily qualify as a guy who is "rolling in the money". I'm going to go with innocent until proven guilty.... until then its just gossip.
