Dude your sig is flippin' hilarious... I did that to my brother once on a fishing trip at the lake. Turns out he got the last laff though when he flipped the canoe when I wouldn't let him back in <_<
Hahaha, I'm imagining it in my head as we speak  . I have a sister, I wonder what will happen if I did that to her? Hmmm, I wonder  :P
I think you are wrong about that first part. You do need 3 starting caliber cb's in this league. Infact based on whats happened to us when our top 2 corners have gone down the last few years, I am surprised to see a Ravens fan say this. If Foxworth or Washington go down, assuming Rolle wont be here, do we really want to see Derrick Martin and Frank Walker against Reggie Wayne and Randy Moss? I think not. As long as we are not paying all 3 guys starter money we will be fine and we wont be.
It would be great to have 3 starter-caliber CBs. You can't ever have enough talent. But my point was that the Ravens had Washington, Rolle for 10 games and Walker, and stil were 2nd in pass defense in the league, despite the 4th hardest schedule. Pittsburgh had Ike Taylor and Bryant McFadden, and was 1st in pass D. This was mostly due to an effective pass rush, not CBs. A good pass rush can make average CBs look like Pro-Bowlers.

I think, if the Ravens would spend a 2nd or a 3rd round pick on Cromartie, they would be overstocking a position that's okay, with other positions lacking. If you want to bolster the D, get another pass rusher... that's the key, as both the Steelers & the Giants have shown the last 2 seasons.

The positions lacking, IMHO, are WR and OLine...

As Ozzie would say: "Right player, right price"

I'd love to see him in the purple and black, but not at the expense of a #1 or #2 pick in the draft.

if you're looking at last year, look at '07 then, too.. we were torched through the air because we had no depth at corner, but the one game it seemed that c-mac and rolle both played, we shut down the undefeated Patriots better than anyone else had that whole year up to that point.. i agree that it has A LOT to do with pass rush, but you still need corners to lock down receivers... plus, the release of c-mac with Rolle most likely soon to follow, our secondary was depleated, not our front seven... i think Cromartie would be a great addition, for the right price of course

i would give up a 2nd round pick for him. i mean he's only been in the league for 2 years so he's still young and he has a lot of talent yet a lot of room to improve with him being so young. in this league you need depth at every position so with 3 solid corners you couldn't go wrong. you never know what could happen during the season injuries happen so you need quality players to step in when the starters are hurt. i say we try to get him if the opportunity presents itself. he and foxworth could start and fabian be the nb.

I know, right? I think that was his third pick on Manning for the day.
Wish Cmac could say the same
Chargers GM A.J. Smith disputed a report that CB Antonio Cromartie will go on the trade block if San Diego signs free agent Drayton Florence.
"He's not being traded," Smith said.
Oh well. :(

Don't they have like 3 1st round corners in AC, Jammer, and Cason??

If Aj smith did put him on the trade block, I would offer the 2nd round pick in a heartbeat
He broke his hip in week 1 and he wasn't healthy the entire year so i wouldn't overrate his performance last season. He looked amazing in 2007. If they're trying to trade the guy i wouldn't mind giving up our 1st round pick for him. He's still only 23 or 24 years old and with a good front 7 the sky is the limit for him.
Do you really think he broke his hip in week one and played through it the whole year? When you play corner, you use your hips on almost every snap. I think it was just an excuse for the fact that he is a better playmaker than coverage corner.

Still, if he does become a Raven, it would be glorious. I highly doubt it though...

4th hardest schedue doesnt mean that we faced the toughest passing attacks in the league.

In 16 games we faced 5 top 10 passing attacks- Texans (4), Colts (5), Eagles (6), Cowboys (9), Dolphins (10). Of the 5 the Eagles were the only ones that we were able to hold under 250 yards and the Eagles team that we faced was a very different one then the one that we saw in the playoffs. We all know Peyton Manning torched, so we will set that a side. Chad Pennington threw for 295 yards and 2 td's the first time we played the Dolphins, and he nearly brought the Dolphins back to beat us because of our sorry pass defense. Tony Romo, basically the same as Pennington. He threw two picks in the first half and threw for like 35 yards, came back in the second half or 4th quarter rather, put up 2 td's and 200 yards passing. And save for two epic failes by the Cowboys defense, they would have come back in beat us because of our pass defense. Sage Rosenfels threw 4 picks but he also was able to torch us for almost 300 yards.

Outside of those passing attacks, the other 11 games we played were against passing attacks ranked in the bottom half of the league. With seven games against teams ranked 23 or worse in passing, and 5 games vs the bottom 3 passing attacks in the NFL- Oakland, Cleveland, and Cinci.

I guess my point is our pass defense ranking 2nd, reflects more of how sorry our opponants passing games really were and not neccessarily how great our pass defense was. Our pass defense got torched when it really mattered in so many games during the season. Just adding Foxworth isnt going to change that especially if we lose Rolle. I understand that we have bigger needs then corner right now, I actually agree with that but corner is still an issue for us. Just because we were able to *** our stats by playing some vanilla offense's, doesnt make the problem any less of one. If we can get Cromartie for a reasonable pick, I think we should go for it.It doesnt neccessarily have to be picks from this years draft. It could be picks from next years draft or a player.
