so far.. ive only seen first round on here... he would definitly be worth that...

Many on here have been so "worried" about getting a CB in the draft that was big and Nfl ready... How bout getting him right now..

Cromartie is 6'2".. i saw this on wikipedia... "On July 25, 2006, Cromartie signed a 5-year, $12.5 million contract with $7.35 million guaranteed with the Chargers."

is that still true? or did he restructure... cause if not... thats a piece of cake contract
I think he restructured after that breakout 2007 season, but I can't confirm.

I'm not a Chargers fan but this is a dumb move. Florence had a much worse season than Cromartie. Jaguars dropped him his first year, taking a huge penalty for a reason.

Fabian and Foxworth are both ready to start. They have played 3rd strings on their teams are too developed to take a step back. Same with Cromartie, no one wants to be on a team that is completing with you for a starting job.

Eagles tried to do it.

Getting Cromartie would be great b/c in the redzone teams are more and more using the quick fade route on both sides and having a 6'2 CB eliminates that, not to mention, hin being that tall with elite speed and ball hawk skills!

Antonio Cromartie 7/25/2006: Signed a five-year, $12.5 million contract. The deal includes $7.35 million guaranteed. 2009: $935,000, 2010: $1.2225 million, 2011: Free Agent

Technically if we traded for him we wouldn't have to restructure anything bcuz we would own the rights to his current contract. He wouldn't be a free agent until 2011 which means we could have a very good CB, for very cheap, for the next 2 years.

Worth a 3rd? I think so.

Good find but the Cromartie will go to the highest bidder. I doubt we would give up more than a 3rd, I'm sure other teams will sacrifice an early 2nd for his potential.

Bullrush has said this already but Cromartie was hurt mostly all of 2008, he played the whole friggen season hurt. Hes young, extremely athletic, and an absolute ball hawk...not only that the chargers defense was about as soft and sit back as they come until rivera took over halfway through the season. So when you rush 3 guys...theyre not gonna get pressure unless they are unreal pass rusher, which san diego does not have on its line. The guy suffered from a hip injury and zero pass rush in 2008. To say that Cromartie is a wash out and pass up on him would be a huge mistake.

PS IQ is right, you need 3 quality corners in this league. We had Frank Walker starting opposite Fabian Washington in the AFC champ game, they were our nickel and dime corners at the start of the season.

Al Davis hasn't made a good move for the Raiders since he signed Rich Gannon. I'm not giving AJ Smith a lot of props, but I give him more credit than Al Davis.

I say go after him, cut Samari ($4Million Cap Money) and sign him at the right price, if not move on!
Would give us a very solid and young secondary

Cut Samari... take that 4 mil in cap.

Trade a 2nd round pick for him (I know they said a 3rd, but if you think no one else will be making offers for him then your crazy)
This way, we will still be able to use our 1st round pick on a WR or BPA, and instead of taking a chance in the 2nd round on CB, we will get a NFL ready, big, physical, and fast CB.

A 2nd round pick wouldn't be able to come in and make an immediate impact (a 1st might not either), but Cromartie would.

He was hurt and he played for the Raiders... if that isn't enough of an explanation then I dont know what is.
I hate to be Johnny Raincloud here...

But why do the Ravens need 3 starting CBs? The FO just spent $28 million on Foxworth, and will pay Washington another $1.5, and you usually only start 2 CBs at once... unless you're in the nickel/dime - but then, you don't need 3 starter-caliber CBs to cover their #1-3 WRs.

The Ravens currently have a huge hole in the OLine, need a WR and possibly a LB or a TE. All need positions before spending for another CB - and, given his youth, it may require a 1st or 2nd round draft pick...
I think you are wrong about that first part. You do need 3 starting caliber cb's in this league. Infact based on whats happened to us when our top 2 corners have gone down the last few years, I am surprised to see a Ravens fan say this. If Foxworth or Washington go down, assuming Rolle wont be here, do we really want to see Derrick Martin and Frank Walker against Reggie Wayne and Randy Moss? I think not. As long as we are not paying all 3 guys starter money we will be fine and we wont be.

YES DEFINENTLY.... he was hurt last year, in a defense that was shaky for the majority of the season and changed D coor. and systems..... having him we would shore up our D-backs, and allow us to either draft DHB or Nicks in the 1st round or trade down to the second, and get more picks, get Kenny Britt or Brendon Tate then Paul Krugar (DE) or Alex Mack/ Max Unger ©
if rolle wants out y dont we trade him and draft pick to the chargers for cromartie?
I don't think Rolle has any value. Teams know we are going to release him, so why trade when you can pick him up for probably cheaper.

That is very true, but by trading for Rolle, teams interested in him can guarantee receiving him, rather than worrying about another team outbidding for him.

I would do anything to have AC on our team. Think of the talent and versatility he would bring. Now that JL is gone, we could use him as a KR and/or PR.

If he goes on the block, I'd give up a late third rounder and some cash, but nothing more. But i do think we need him.
Cromartie makes Fabian's tackling look like Ronnie Lott's. Did anyone read the story? As it has been said, he had a cracked hip and was still a decent CB in the league last year. Not to mention the team had ZERO pass rush because of Merriman being injured, which left the CB's more vulnerable.

Did you see the game against the colts in 2007, when he was healthy, where he picked off Peyton Manning THREE times which led to the Chargers beating the Colts????

Don't judge a guy while he is dealing with an injury, he has a whole offseason to get healthier, and would only improve in a strong Defense. He has great size, and can be a game changer like Ed Reed when hes healthy, well worth a 2nd or 3rd + 5th/6th
