Dave's Mock Draft

1. Lions - Eugene Monroe
Look for the Lions to follow the Dolphins' blueprint for success and get themselves a franchise bookend. Monroe is probably the most balanced of the top tackles, so he'd be my pick. But any of the top 4 tackles are interchangable ( minus Andre Smith, for his silliness).

2. Rams - Michael Oher
They desperately need a replacement for Orlando pace and generally speaking the first round is the only place to find your franchise tackles, so they decide to do the smart thing here and take Oher.

3. Chiefs - Aaron Curry
With Cassel in Kansas, they're not gonna be taking a QB, so they look to provide their defense with a playmaker that they can build around.

4. Seahawks - Matthew Stafford
The Seahawks have Stafford fall into their lap, and with the decline of Hasselbeck, they don't pass up the opportunity.

5. Browns - Brian Orakpo
Bit of a reach here, but with the browns lacking a pass rush of any description, they take a top pass rusher.

6. Bengals -Michael Crabtree
Looking as if they'll lose Houshmanzadeh, so they'll replenish their recieving corps with this monster out of Texas Tech.

7. Oakland- Darrius Heyward Bey
And in the biggest reach in recent memory, the Raiders draft DHB. With Davis' penchant for speed and the Raider's lack of a top flight reciever make this a match made in some sorta heaven. Just as long as it's not the one I'm going to...

8. Jaguars- Andre Smith
With their line decimated in the fashion that it was last year, the Jags have little choice but to invest a couple of draft picks in it. What better way to start than snagging a top flight left tackle?

9. Packers- Jeremy Maclin
It'd be easy to pick one of the hybrid pass rushers and cite their switch to the 3-4, but instead they opt to give Aaron Rodgers a guy to throw to oppostite Greg Jennings.

10. Denver Broncos (from 49ers, for Jay Cutler) - Mark Sanchez
If Cutler's relationship with McDaniels is a rocky as it appears to be, then Cutler is going to serve little purpose in Denver. Josh McDaniels gets a fairly Cassel-esque QB to work with, and SF get a pro bowl QB to work with. Everybody wins. Yay.

11. Bills - Brian Cushing
The Bills desperately need to add a spark to their underwhelming LB corps, and the versatile cushings figures to do just that.

12. Broncos - BJ Raji
The Broncos couldn't stop anyone doing anything last year on D. A big interior defensive lineman could help them in all facets of their defense.

13. Redskins - Aaron Maybin
The skins were one of the worst sacking teams in the league last year, and so look at the dynamic Maybin as the answer.

14. Saints - Rey Maualuga
The perenially weak defense of NO gets some toughness and intensity with Maualuga. They have bigger needs, but Maualuga is just to good to pass up at this point.

15. Texans - Jason Smith
Probably at the behest of Matt Shaub, who was out for periods of last year with various injuries. If he can get just a little more time to give it to Andre Johnson, this offense becomes very dangerous.

16. Chargers - Malcolm Jenkins
And finally the top corner comes off the board. They could use him at corner or safety, as they're distinctly average at both positions.

17. Jets - Vontae Davis
Rex loves his hybrids, but he knows as well as anyone that quality pass rush specialists can be found as far back as undrafted free agents, so he'll look for a quality corner to play along side Darelle Revis, and complete his defensive back field (along with Kerry Rhodes).

18. Bears - Knowshon Moreno
The bears assemble themselves a formible backfield tandem with arguably the best back in the draft, pairing him with Matt Forte

19. Bucs - Chris "Beanie" Wells
Clearly, Earnest Graham isn't starter quality in this league, and an upgrade there is necessary to bolster their running game.

20. Lions (f/ Dallas) - Josh Freeman
The lions take a QB here. They should look at a running back and defense in later rounds.

21. Eagles (f/panthers) - Larry English
With fairly few needs, the Eagles are given the license to draft BPA, and English figures to be that at this point.

22. Vikings - Alphonso Smith
The Vikes won't shy away from Smith because of his height, having had success with another diminutive corner in Antoine Davis. They need some help in the defensive backfield.

23. Patriots - Tyson Jackson
Jackson should slot nicely into the Pats' 3-4.

24. Falcons - Brandon Pettigrew
The Falcons give Ryan a checkdown-safety valve, and a guy that can stay in an block when they're dialing one up to Hot Roddy.

25. Dolphins - Percy Harvin
They need help at reciever, and this dynamic playmaker could add a plethora of extra wrinkles to miami's wildcat.

26. The Big One. Ravens - Hakeem Nicks
We give Flacco a legitimate target in Hakeem Nicks. It's our most obvious need with the CB position sured up somewhat. Kenny Britt is a possibility here too.

27. Colts - LeSean McCoy.
The Colts tend to go offense in round one, and will use this pick to add McCoy's dash to Addai's smash.

28. Eagles - Darry Beckwith
A bit of a reach here, but the Eagles need an inside linebacker and he is the best one left.

29. Giants - Kenny Britt
The giants here look to Britt to fill the void left by Plaxico Burress. They love their pass rushers, so they'll have a hard time not pouncing on the falling Everette Brown, but this is a far greater need.

30. Titans - Everette Brown
And finally he's taken, even though the Titans aren't a perfect fit for him. He'll be viewed as the successor of 'The Freak' who's got to be on his way out.

31. Cardinals - Shonn Greene
Tim Hightower didn't pan out as the Cards had intended, and Edge is just about done. They'll look to invigorate Hightower by pairing him with a similarly powerful back.

32. Steelers - Eben Britton
The Steelers are in dire need of an upgrade all over the offensive line. Britton will be charged with guarding Big Ben's blindside for years to come.

if Ray stays and Rolle goes, there is no doubt in my mind if we dont trade down, we'll take A. Smith if he's there at 26, or most likely the best CB available, even if he's off the board
Not bad. But the egles got the 21st pick from the panthers, not the 28th.
Oh yeah, that makes more sense.

I don't know if we really need to.
I mean, we have our starters at corner now, and they're young(ish). We have a 35 year old and a guy who's teetering on the edge of labelling himself a bust. We have Derrick Martin coming back also. Maybe we take a corner in round 2, unless a really top notch one is there at our pick ( which I don't think there will be)

yeah i guess i can see us waiting til the second if the right guy isnt there, but if youre referring to rolle as the "35 year old," like i said if he goes (which he reportedly wants out) thats when i feel its a bigger necessity than WR in the first..

that is, if we dont go after anothe corner via FA (i.e. Bodden)

Nah, Mason is the 35 year old.

gotcha... but still, the argument about Martin coming back from injuries can be countered by saying D. Williams will be back.. i just think its more important to solidify our D, than it is to make a possible upgrade at the WR position
