Boller in not getting any help by Jason brown trowing him under the bus with his comments today.Posted on PFT I don't know how to post a link or i would. But he basically said boller was gun shy from getting hit to many times.Oddly enough brown would say that since he was protecting Boller.

Leonhard did not sign with the Jets.
They could not guarantee him a starting position so he walked.
Wonder if the Eagles will give him that starting position he wants? Surprised Rex wasn't giving it to him in NY though...as he was the one rumored to have faught to get him the try out here last year.

They asked him to restructure his contract and he said no, which in turn lead to his release.

WOW to me this is very shocking.

Leonard will make a great starter. The man can run the ball also. very quick on his feet!

Wow, Jim Leonhard just keeps getting screwed over at every turn. The Bills screwed him over by not showing their appreciation for his services by locking him up with a new contract. The Ravens kinda screwed him over by accepting the fact that he'll be gone, instead of giving him a long-term contract. The Jets screwed him over by saying there's no guarantee he'll start, in spite of how well he's played the past two seasons for Buffalo and Baltimore.

I wouldn't mind having him back, but I could see him going to the Eagles -- only to be benched because they, for some godawful reason, can't identify talent like they used to.
I agree. I think he may end up somewhere and surprise us. *about Boller*
what makes you think that? in baltimore he had no pressure in the world because we're a run first team with a great defense.. keep in mind he's coming off major shoulder surgery and probably wont have the same arm as he did before.. i'd take kellen clemmens over him, just because Boller has proven he cant get it done week in and week out.. the jets have 3 decent QBs on their roster, and i wouldnt be suprised if they had an open competion in training camp and the guy who came out on top out of those three starts.. i dont think QB is as big of a need as some seem to think with the Jets

Baltimore Ravens safety Jim Leonhard has verbally agreed to a free-agent contract with the New York Jets, a source told FOXSports.com.

Leonhard was was a one of Baltimore's biggest defensive surprises last year after signing a free-agent deal with the Ravens. The ex-Bills safety registered a career-high 68 tackles and six passes defended for Baltimore's No. 2-ranked defense in 2008.

He joins Bart Scott in leaving the vaunted Ravens' defense this offseason, following former defensive coordinator and new Jets head coach Rex Ryan to New York.

Leonhard will be replaced in the Ravens' lineup by three-year veteran Dawan Landry (who was on injured reserve for all of 2008) starting oppostie All-Pro Ed Reed.

Unlike the Bart Scott fiasco, this is probably the one time where the Jets can accept a verbal and not be sweating bullets over it...

Or so they hope...I am glad he is gone so the fan favorite love fest is over.

He was a product of the system as far as safety play goes.

Everyone keeps saying that players are products of the system and I know its true sometimes, but Leonhard is talented. He showed great speed and closing ability, good instinct, and the ability to be coached well. That does say something for him as a player.

On top of that, he was pretty solid on returns, I know he didnt take one back but he put figurs to shame. Fact is Leonhard was a good player and will be missed, he's not just a product of the system.

It appears you were wrong. And they will be sweating it out as the Broncos are now in play...

If we can't have him here, I hope the Broncos get him. I'd hate to see us lose another defensive player to the Jets.

And now Adam Schefter says Jim signed a 3 year deal. Can't the Jets just handle their business correctly right away.

Perhaps the players that the Jets are talking to are asking the same question that is on everyone elses mind...sure, stack the defense but where is the quarterback?
Bart Scott is walking into the same situation he had for years here in Baltimore...no offense and a plan to rely heavily on defense.

good for Jimmy.. he deserved a contract, and I think its best the Ravens weren't the ones to give it to him.. Hopefully we get a long term deal with Landry done, if not.. its all yours Zibby
