Lb Core Could Be Desimated But

No matter what happens with Ray, our pass defense is exactly where Ozzie wants it.

Foxworth and Washington must be the fastest corners in the league. Ed Reed can feel some relief with that. Landry, everyone seems to be forgeting is better than Jim Leonhard if healthy.

All i'm saying is Ngata up front Reed in back i don't care who is in the middle.

Well teams may not be able to run the ball, they may not be able to throw it deep, but getting that first down should be fairly easy if we dont have good lbs

Whoever said we didn't have good Linebackers. Just because Bart Scott is gone...and possibly Ray Lewis (Who knows about him), doesn't mean our linebackers will be bad. Are we forgetting about a little big man named T-Sizzle. Jarret Johnson is still with us, he may not be the big time LB on everyone's radar, but he consistently brings his A-Game every down and every play. We also have quality back-ups like Antwan Barnes, Jameel McClain, Brendan Ayanbendajo, and Tvares Gooden. Let's not get all down in the dumps people.. sheesh!

we need to have faith in the FO they know what they have to do and they are going out and getting it done. i like alot of other people have bashed players more than my fair share. so i will reframe from wanting to slander them for having no luv for us but its the business it happens every year all we can do is watch and hope we stay competive.

I think if we put Tavarus Gooden in the middle with either Antwan Barnes or Jameel McClain we will be fine. We honestly needed to find a way to get all of our young talented linebackers on the field. Maybe they are better than we all think and the front office knew all along, lol.

Im sorry I didnt mean "bad" but unproven for the majority. If we do get Ray back then I think we will be set. However, we did win several games by a small margin. If we cant defend like we used to and cant produce on offense any better then, I have my doubts about going to the playoffs again.

Fast dose not always mean good look at Figuars. Fabian is OK but he cant tackle and from what I here the new corner was basically a back up in Denver and they trader him for a 7th round pick. Atlanta didn't try to keep him and they need corners.I never seen him play but sure isn't any of the names floating around when talking about top free agent corners. Does any one think he can be our # 1 corner they say he is replacing c-mack and c-mack always took on the #1 receivers.

I can see Brendon Ayanbadejo replacing Bart. This will be his 2nd year in our system. It's not like he would be a true ILB. He's fast enough to beat the back to the edge and he's strong enough to support the middle.

Just from the little bit of time I've seen him play (preseason, situational downs, special teams) he's been fairly impressive. I mean our new defensive coordinator was our old linebackers coach...

Or maybe let Greisen step up and take over for Scott?

Heh, that is not a half bad assertion. If the Ravens staff doesn't at least consider Brendon as a replacement for Bart, they are crazy. This kid is fast, like IQ said, and hits damn hard. He also has proven that he has the instincts. I would actually love to see him get the chance to show off his stuff at ILB. Good call IQ.

Losing Bart Scott qualifies as decimation? Poor choice of words. Of course, I'm assuming that we resign Ray.

A healthy Landry along with Foxworth will greatly improve our secondary, the defensive line will be great as usual, and the linebackers will be fine with Suggs, Ray and McClain/Barnes/Gooden. We'll be as good as last year.

Maybe our LBs WONT be as good this season..that's something we will have to accept, although i don't think what we have will be bad, either. We do have depth at the position. Guys like Barnes, Gooden, McClain, while not as polished as our veterans, are more athletic than some of them. And I really feel that with the CBs we have now, we can play some man coverage and not have to blitz 6 men every play in order to take routes away. If we can afford to drop another LB into coverage, the 8 yard crap that burned us last season becomes a lot more difficult to complete. Things might not be so bleak as they may seem.

Everyones acting like weve lost all our starters on defense.

Weve only lost Scott and we have huge depth at the position, Ray looks like its very possible he will come back.

Landry is better then Leonhard when healthy, So if we do resign Ray.

What have we lost?
Nothing that will kill us.

Actually to be fair we've lost 4 starters(Bart, C'Mac, Leonhard, Brown) from last year + the possibility of losing Ray + the possibility of losing Rolle = 6 starters from last year gone.
