17 posts in this topic

Everyone on these forums keep talking about loosing Ray, what about our kicker, possibly the best kicker in the history of the game?

Scott said on the Fan yesterday that he spoke to Stover yesterday and he said he hadn't heard from anyone in the organization right now but that he knew we had "bigger fish to fry" first before him.

He might only be automatic from the 30 yard range... but that works out well as the ravens still seem to stall out when the offense gets to the 7 yard line

Stover is either going to sign with the Ravens or retire.
I cant see him signing any where else.
We aren't going to carry two kickers on the roster (at least I hope not, you never should). He's going to move on or retire IMO.
I agree with this, but unfortunately Houshka cannot do it all so we may have to pursue someone else.

Signing Sam Koch was more important then Stover at this point. I think he's been apart of this team so long we just hate to see him go. But our cap situation this year is dim, we need every MIL we can get. He's been consistent yes. But He'll be retiring soon anyway. It's time to move on.

I don't think we will carry two kickers unless Stover gets no offers and ends up signing for about the same money as last year. Houshka's young and could use the tutelage of an older kicker but he can do the job. We just haven't seen him because Stover's that good inside the 45.

They would waste a spot for a kick off specialist if it meant having someone automatic from >40 but I can't see having to younger guys in there. I don't want Stover to go but we could have used that extra depth elsewhere last year.

Also along with RG the fact that Koch doesn't have a contract bothers me more. But this may all be the fact that special teams always plays second (well third really) bannana.
