Farewell To Bart...

27 posts in this topic

Im not happy to see you go, but thanks for all the memories.
By far the best trashtalker in the league, you embodied the ravens mentality and gave your all every time out.
Good luck with the rest of your career, from undrafted FA, to this bank breaker, I wish you all the best and I am proud of you!

Its deff. a big loss, but at least we get to see some of the other young guys step up and play. Im looking forward to seeing more of Barnes and McClain.

Best of luck to Bart with the jets... he's gonna need it there.

I loved the loyalty he had, it's really unfortunate Rex Ryan left, which we all hated seeing happen but this is the aftermath of him starting his career as a head coach. I loved Bart and really wished we re-signed him, but hopefully he likes it there and does well. Good luck Bart.

I seriously just joined this community because of Bart Scott...and it was like 10 minutes after that he signed a deal with the Ravens. I feel like a bad omen now  I've never hated any player thats left the Ravens but for Bart Scott it's getting there

So much for devotion eh? Ravens tried everything they could to keep that man and after talking about his want to return to the Ravens it seems he just wanted to be the man in charge of D. Hell Scott, you should have jumped on that Raiders Defense, you would have been Jesus Incarnate over there.

I hope Bart has success in NY but I still feel the they overpaid for him big-time. He is a very solid player but not really a difference-maker.

I agree. Maybe its what we made him do but I dont remember him making a big plays or remember him doing much. Not saying he isnt good but thinking back I dont remember saying what a great play by Scott...just lots of trash talking to Hines Ward. Liked his personality and hoping thats why he got paid so much not because hes that good. It would make all of us feel better.

 what?

Hes a great ILB but he wont wow you with huge plays, an outstanding tackler who could always lay a big hit. He deserved to be paid, and I think he got more then he was worth, and good for him. He came from nothing (Undrafted free agent) to no getting a 48million dollar contract. Good luck Bart, unless you're playing us, where I hope McClain stiff-arms you to the ground :D

Farewell, you will be missed, but your not ray lewis, you cant provide for our defense like he has. In two years, he will be like Adalius Thomas is now. We will be seeing another product of the ravens defense, it has made many just like the steelers def, there plug n play and everyone else will fail-except Joey Porter And Ray Lewis

Yep. I've said it before, other than 2005 in which he filled in nicely for Ray and 2006 where he played at a Pro Bowl level(like a lot of other players on that defense), he has been just another guy. He is consistently good against the run and occasionally blows people up but really doesn't do much else. They have a good young inside LB in David Harris who racks up tackles and Orlando Pace is like a poor man's Suggs.

I always said if we had to lose 1 of the three LB's I would pick Scott. I'm still kind of upset and angry.

Not at Bart, I can just see Rex Ryan sitting at a round table in his green tie laughing obnoxiously and going "well here's what I'll do this off-season, I know Baltimore has a terrible cap situation so let's go with EVERYONE we can get from there hahahahah"

His laugh and smile in my head makes me hate him.

Wasn;t it just last week that Bart was quoted as saying he wanted to stay a Raven and if our offer was close, he would stay. Today he said the the Ravens were close, but close only counts in horseshoes, or something to that effect. I really like Bart as a player, but I can;t understand his attitude change from one week to the next. Oh well, I'm sure that Ozzie has a plan, just wish he would talk to the fans. Guess he can;t put his cards on the table while the negotiations are still in process. We'll have to wait and see how Ray and Jason pan out

Hey, I have been a biiiiiig Scott fan. And the reason we're so angry is because he was such a great contributor. But now, he isn't a Raven and as far as I am concerned, is dead to me.

Thats sort of how it works. Players want to preach its just a business, well it is with fans too. Your with us or against. I didnt know them personally, whats done is done.

losing Ray hurts 1000x more obviously, but we have to get over it at some point. At least with Bart, his skillset is not on some out-of-this-world tip, and their are plenty of linebackers in this draft who have much more upside than Bart does.

edit: I meant to say in the event if we were to lose Ray

Did he really sign? This is posted on NFL Fanhouse at 6:43pm
It appears that Lewis has two choices here: Wait and hope that some other team decides he's worth a hefty contract, or go crawling back to Baltimore. With Scott's departure now official (right?), Baltimore has to want Lewis back -- otherwise that stout linebacking corps of Lewis-Scott-Terrell Suggs is down to just one member. For a team that prides itself on defense, watching that subtraction happen would be brutal.

Baltimore made Bart Scott. Remember all the hype Ed Hartwell was getting when he left Baltimore for Atlanta? No one heard his name ever again, its our system that makes our players great. We were getting old on defense, its time to start getting younger. Best of luck to Bart, he was a great part of your D for a while. Its sad that he left, but thats the business part of football. Lets hope we can at least keep Ray, we dont wanna lose Bart AND Ray.
