Ravens Offer Lewis 3 Year Deal
I understand! But if they are willing to pay Ray 17 Million guarantee and he does not take it, why not use one mill of that to keep Bart????
Actually you would use 5-12M of that based off of a 5-6 year contract.

5yr x 7Mill annually = $35
5yr x 8mill annually = $40
5yr x 9mill annually = $45

2 million dollars signs 4 Jim Leonhard's last year!!!.. i agree with the logic though, we need to make sure AT LEAST one of the two LBs stay

If we sign starting free agent CB Foxworth... ...potentially the Ravens could be looking at $14M in available cap space after signing Bart and Ray(and foxworth)?? Not to mention the extra room they can still create if they restructure veteran contracts. (Pryce, Mason, Gregg, Anderson)
wouldnt that be nice

i like that IQ, that means we could potentially sign Dockery to play guard and move Yanda to center, aswell as signing another corner like bodden or something, we could get anither Jimmy Leonhard, who knows i just hope we can keep both linebackers or better even sign jason brown although the cahcnes off that are about 0.0000000000000001%

to be honest I thought I was gonna see a much higher offer for Ray. Somewhere in the $30-32M range with a $20M+ Signing Bonus

But 3 yr for $24 M sounds about right. This would be awesome if we signed him AND locked Scott up long term

You will see that offer, from another team :o

Giving a center $40-50Million just doesn't sit right with me. Brown is asking for too much. We would be dishing out elite tackle type of money and we wouldn't even have (technically) an elite OT on our roster.

SCREW THAT!

If we're gonna spend that kind of dough on a lineman it needs to be on a dominant Left Tackle (move Gaither to Right)

Srry Brown I like you and all but SCREW THAT!!

supposedly the only teams making moves on Ray is Denver, New York, and Dallas.

Jets have bigger cap concerns than we do and Dallas would have to go Jason crazy with the knife if they want to clear up enough room for Ray. But Denever  They have something like $40M + in available cap space...

If Denver steals Ray I swear to everything holy I will start up a Boycott Colorado Foundation. I will work night and day with my congressman to try and officially remove Colorado from the United States. I will start a civil war with Colorado if need be! Nothing but a bunch of hills anyway. %!#@ING Colorado!!

I know what you're saying too, and to a large extent agree with you. But honestly, we wouldn't need to bump the offer for Bart any; the $7M/year is very, very generous. He'll jump on that, don't worry. When money's this tight, I'd rather use that extra $1-$2M to try and keep J. Brown

I hate to be the barer of bad news but 40-50 million dollars isnt going to get you an elite T, now a days. You'd be lucky to get 5 years out of an elite G for 40 million dollars.

(In my best Gary Coleman impersonation)

Whatchu talkin' bout Neepo??

Last Year Alan Feneca was the highest paid offensive lineman in the NFL. He made $40 million over 6 years.

So how is $40-50 million dollars in just 5 years, unlikely?

That was before Miami gave a rookie T, a 5 year almost 60 million dollar deal.

Dam Dolphins messing up the game. I stand corrected yet again. But still, 40-50M isn't to shabby for a Tackle.

I hear a lot of people questioning Ray Lewis's loyalty on here. But the only loyalty that needs to be questioned is yours. How can all of you turn on Ray like this? This man has been the defense, and the defense has been the franchise, so therefore RAY LEWIS IS THE FRANCHISE. How could anybody even deny that?

Oh because he wants to be paid what he's worth? Who here has accumulated a million dollars in his/or her life? Nobody? So how you tell Ray to take a few mill less? How can you insult him for that?

He has been the heart of this defense every single year he's been in the league. He has been around for almost the entire EXISTANCE of the Baltimore Ravens. When this franchise was just 5 years old it already had a superbowl THANKS TO RAY. And last year we were 1 drive away from another superbowl appearance THANKS TO RAY.

But hey lets just forget about all of that, because he's now 34, and you saw some negative footage from the giants game on NFL live. Screw Ray right?

first off ray lewis is not the franchise. 2nd our d this year would not be as good if it wasent for ed reed making the plays he did and he can make those plays cause of 10 other men on that d. Lets put ray on one side and o lets say the lions lets see who gets the higher score and keeping a player for the heart of the defence is the most stupidest thing i have ever heard.Like no one else can step up or something and yes leaving for a few mill is dumb to cause im sorry but if a team has kept me since day 1 even through a murder trial and still stuck with me id stay and ppl saying well he needs to support his kids i can tell you theres millions and millions of ppl who support their kids working miminum wage jobs or a lil more but not making 25 mil come on. people use ur brain and p.s this is from a person who wants ray to stay but not if he wants a huge contract thats gonna set us back 3 years

That's some pretty bad photo-shopping.

In the first picture you can see he's standing on a black end zone.

In the second you can see the Ravens offensive lineman's helmet.

I blame Deion Sanders for this. You know he's in Rays ear saying "test the market". You know its him. "You're worth at least 10 million a year Ray".

Thats fine, but I hope he makes up his damn mind soon. It's not fair to Bart and Suggs that we have to wait for Ray to see what he's worth in the open market.

Go to the Jets or Cowboys, but I bet he'll be watching the Ravens in the playoffs from his comfy couch!

Thats great! Good luck with that! You'll see how well this works out for you when Ray doesn't have one of the best defensive lines playing in front of him. Those 34 years will start to show up real quick. And you guys better worry about your QB, not your defense. You really think that roster of QB's will get you to the playoffs in that division? BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!! You are delusional!

Umm "sherb" where do you think Ed Reed got his Film study habits from?? Ray instills a work ethic into all of these guys. He brings out the best out of every single player on this defense. Once they don't got Ray lighting the fire under them they lose their hunger, don't keep their bodies in the best of shape, and are IR'ed or cut (Weaver, Demps, Thomas, Baxter, etc). That's enough to keep him. Plus he's coming off a great season. Give him his money.

Oh and the Ravens stuck with Ray after the murder trial? They stuck with him because of his talent, not because they liked him. Talent gets you multiple chances (Pacman, Vick, Henry, etc), If Ray was some special teamer he'd be cut...

Well considering Albert Haninesworth just signed with the skins for a 100 MIL 7 year contract, no wonder Ray thinks we're low balling him!!!!!

Albert Hainseworth is also only 27 years old. Not 34. 6 years can make a big difference.

If that is all we are offering I fear he will leave for greed. I understand it's about the money but because of the high level he's played at and the endorsements he's made a huge amount of money during his career. If he's living such a high lifestyle that he needs more money then that it's sad. I understand you want what you're worth but why have so much you can never spend it all? Besides if he's financially irresponsible no matter what he earns it will be gone anyway. I love his as a player and he'll always be a Raven in my heart but if he leaves it will be for greed and no other reason.

Shut up. 24 million over 3 years with 17 million guaranteed is great money for a 34 year old linebacker. If someone pays him more, then so be it. He probably won't be playing for a very good team.
