He's young and good, and knows the Steelers.

The only problem with him is the reason the Steelers aren't resigning him - he wants $8-9 million/yr, and he's not worth that...
Make a play on D.Hall or Leigh Bodden or both.
You'll have to pick one and even that might be a stretch. Bodden and Hall might be the top CBs and take top dollar. We don't pay top dollar unless it's to re-sign our guys.

Yeah no doubt. The Lions might traqde their second 1st round pick for more picks since they are in a rebuilding phase. so if he falls to the Lion' s 20th pick, we might go get him.
Here are some good FAs:
MLB Jonathan Vilma
WR Antonio Bryant
WR Laveranues Coles
WR Jerry Porter
CB Phillip Buchanon
CB Leigh Bodden
CB Cortland Finnegan
CB Ron Bartell
CB Domonique Foxworth
CB Kevin Hobbs
TE Bo Scaife
TE Darnell Dinkins
C Duke Preston
C Melvin Fowler
K Mike Nugent
K Jay Feely

antonio bryant and bo scaife were both francised, kevin hobbs was tendered and the seahawks have exclusive rights to him, therefore not a FA, and i dont like the idea of trading up in the draft when in fact, we are in a mild-form of the Lion's rebuilding process, but to each his own.. we'll see what happens

I always love Phillip Buchanon!
I think he would be a better fit than Samari for us.
Imagine Washington and Buchanon on the field together. Two of the fastest CB in the NFL....

IDK... isn't Buchanon more fit for that Tampa 2?

I just saw that on sports center and thought the exact same thing. We'll have a boat load of cap space since we aren't resigning any of our free agents. It could be a possibility.

Not interested. We might as well pay money for a quality young corner. Then to be cheap and have another old injury prone vet in here sitting on the sideline.

I don't want to give him a huge contract, but I think he would be worth a shot. He gets to stay in the same basic area and has a chance to actually play on a real franchise :P

I like it. Wonder how much $$ that will cost; probably not too much.

Man, our secondary would be the fastest in the NFL if we added him.

What are your thoughts about Springs? even though the ravens picked up foxworth. Springs was a great corner for the skins and would be interesting to keep an eye on

Hes a Maryland guy and would be ok at a nickel spot. I dont see it happening. If we were DESPERATE sure but going with the young guys would be the smart move.

He was good 2 years ago but that was 2 years ago. Hes pretty much done.

Of course, but only if the price is right. Signings like that are not going to happen for a while. Ozzie likes to wait and see what players have little interest and then swoop in and get them with a smaller contract.

+1

Though, to be honest, there's bound to be little interest in Springs on the team's end, since he's had injury issues and is aging.

Springs is a quality player but he is old and has trouble staying healthy. That sounds a lot like another player that the Ravens will release soon.

Where would Springs fit? Pick up a corner in the 2nd or 3rd because that isn't a current issue. Just a potential future one.

I prefer Percy Harvins over DHB. Unlike defense we can't convert raw talent into superstars. Percy is a developed playmaker. When was the last time we were able to draft that. We never have.
do we take a shot at springs to add some corner depth
our biggest problem the last 2 years were injury prone corners. which is why ozzie is looking for young corners right now. springs is very injury prone at his age right now so i don't think we should waste time and money on him. imo opinion we need some experience at corner, and experienced corners are the best. even rolle at his age has great instincts, he just doesn't have the speed he used to have. but with rolle still on the roster i dont think we need to add springs. in the event rolle does get cut it would be worth adding springs as a back up we don't have to depend on for the right price.
