Hey guys,

My name is Matt and I run The Phinsider - SB Nation's Miami Dolphins blog. As you know, the Dolphins are expected to be in the running for center Jason Brown. Is there any chance you guys could provide me with a scouting report on Brown which I would post on my site? Just some thoughts on his strengths, weaknesses, and anything else you want to share. After all, you all know 100 times more about him than myself or anyone on my site does.

Thanks a ton!

?

1.) I wouldn't do ANYTHING to help another team's fans debate on OUR player.

2.) There's not much to talk about scouting wise.

Basically, he is a force on the O-line, to be reckoned with.;....... HE sucks ;)

:)

ok - can anyone expand a bit? I know I liked what I saw in those 2 meetings this past year between the Fins and Ravens. He seems like a mauler in the ground game, but how is his pass protection? And how is he making adjustments to the line at the line of scrimmage?

Brown doesn't have many weaknesses. Although he looks like a typical mauler he's just as good in pass protection. I don't really recall us having any issues with DT's/NT's this season, and we pretty much played the best ones in the NFL on a regular basis. Haynesworth twice, shut him down. Hampton twice, shut him down. Rogers twice, shut him down. Then you have Ratliff who is different than those big guys but he's a pro bowler as well and Brown shut him down. He did record a half a sack i believe but that was vs our RG (Chester). Brown is big, strong yet he's got quick hands and feet. He can pull, and he's terrific when it comes to 2nd level blocking (linebackers, safeties), very useful on screens etc.
He can handle big NT's one on one and you have 2 of those in your division (Wilfork, Jenkins) so i can understand why the Dolphins would want to have him.

His only weakness really is that he's still young and that he's not as experienced as some of those other guys. And i don't even know if that's a weakness, because he'll get even better the next few years. Right now he's still young, he played center for only one season so he's not as good as say Kevin Mawae or Jeff Saturday when it comes to figuring out blitz schemes, stunts and all that. That stuff comes with experience. I just know that there isn't a guard or center i would rather have. The ones that are better (slightly) are already 30+ years old, and they can't even play both positions.
Ozzie, good luck in Alabama - It's time to promote Eric DeCosta.

Yeah, he sucks! We gave up every sack this season because of him. He got pushed around by every DT and man handled by Haynesworth. We only let him start because Mike Flynn retired. He misses meeting, he shows up late. I heard he drinks and one time he stole the team bus, but you'll never read about that in the paper. In and out of rehab all season, he was quite the distraction. Terrible teammate no leadership qualities. He has no business being on a great team like the Phins. So if I were you I'd put him at the bottom of the pile and look for someone better like Chad Slaughter. We might cut you a deal and trade you Slaughter for a 3rd and 4th round pick, but you didn't hear that from me.

Run. Save yourself from the headache that is Jason Brown.

Um.... Are we going to get credit for this scouting report your putting together or do you plan on just passing our ideas off as your own?

But there is no such player as Jason Brown on the Ravens roster. The guy you really want is Chris Chester. He's a big explosive guy. He's a road grade blocker, very athletic, every big run play starts with him, and he's the best pass blocker in the NFL. But unfortunatly, he's still under contract. Parcells should that first round pick over to get this guy, he's a real gem.

Who wants Jason Clown? That guy is a BUM!!! He smells like a homeless man covered in bologna and his blocking is almost as annoying as Anita Marks. This guy is about as hard as styrofoam and he's the Ryan Leaf of Centers. He's a bust!!

Trust me you don't want him on your team!! Can't believe we even drafted that bum. <_<

You guys are being generous. Matt, you're lucky you came here first, because only we know how bad Jason Brown is. Just think of Dan Orlovsky playing center, or my grandmother playing right guard. I actually hope you guys take him, Brown is a waste of a roster spot. We should trade for your 3rd strong center or something, you can have Brown.

Why would you guys want Jason Brown? I mean sure he's okay, but if you want to get a real playmaker then you're looking at the wrong offensive position. You NEED Kyle Boller.

Bullrush was obviously talking about Chad Slaughter that guy is a pimp. Damn Phin fan's got it all wrong. Jason Brown has been a center for only one year and he doesn't even like playing center, he wants to be a guard.

Lets put it this way, if you think simple scouting reports can make a break a deal with a franchise then you're probably making some bad free agency calls. Jason Brown is a kid with a tremondous amount of potential and if you don't know that already and are looking for a scouting report to figure it out then maybe you shouldn't be bidding on him.
