According to the their agent, he is optimistic that one of the two will re-sign by friday, and he also didn't rule out the other signing during FA.
This is good news I want both of them back before anyone including Lewis

I really like Scott and I would love for him to return but I hope its Brown that resigns. All the top QB's have excellent centers with the first one that comes to mind being Peyton Manning and Jeff Saturday. We also need Brown's size when you consider we face Casey Hampton and Rogers twice each year.

First bit of football-related good news in a while. All this talk of so many players on other teams leaving has been depressing...

As much as i hate to say it, i think its going to be Scott resigning with us.. Brown wants some major money and i dont know if the Ravens will give him that money.. I hate how we've been dragging this out.. We have arguably 3 of our best players as potential free agents and none of them have signed yet.. Theres only 6 more days.. It almost seems as if the front office doesnt want to give anyone money.. I guess keeping one of them is better than keeping none of them..

Ozzie doesn't want to pay people more than they're worth. Brown could be asking for a ridiculous amount of money, and though he's very good, we can't just give every penny to one or two players, there's the rest of the team to think of.

You almost gave me a heart attack. Should have typed "re-sign", not resign. It took me a few minutes to realize that they were not quitting.

Anyway...it is great news. I think Brown is what is needed...Flacco already has worked one season with him, and they will only get better if allowed to continue together.

I agree.. We're a lot better with defensive players here than offensive.. Lets keep the good offensive ones and use our depth at linebacker if we arent going to re-sign Ray and Scott.. Hell, we can even draft a linebacker.. We're excellent at drafting defensive players..

From what I've read (I think in the Baltimore Sun), Jason Brown wants to be paid like a guard while the Ravens want to pay him for the position he primarily plays (center).

I would've thought centers would've been paid more than guards, though, given how crucial centers are to line audibles and snapping the ball. Either way, there's a definite difference in what they're asking for, so I'm just hoping they can find an easy compromise like Suggs and that hybrid player designation on the franchise tag.

When when we only have roughly 19 mill to work with, 3 LB and a stand out center plus other FA and draft picks it's hard to spread that out to all of them with the 3 LB wanting probably around 8-10 mill each a year

I think it's the best news I've heard since the Suggs tag=] Brown is more important to me then Ray at this point and I have a major respect for Bart because of the passion he has for this city. The passion that I once thought Ray had before he lost his love for the game and started looking at the business aspect of things. Do I blame him? NO. But He's Ray Lewis and knows what he means to this city. That SHOULD mean more then any contract Dallas or the Jets can offer.

The sad part is if we do resign ray, i dont know if i can ever look at him the same after whats been said/done this offseason. Bart just might be the better option.

I don't ever believe what an agent has to say publicly (or a lot of times what the GM says either for that matter). I'll believe it when they hold a press conference after a deal is signed.

I'll believe it when it becomes official. And i could care less what we do with Ray or Bart, i just hope we bring Brown back, he's way more important than those two guys at this point.
Brown is our most important free agent. Because you win football games with your offensive and defensive lines. Hopefully we do whatever is necessary to keep him.
And your quarterback, receivers, runningbacks, cornerbacks, safeties, special teams...

I hope we get them both back.

if you think ray lewis doesnt play with passion, or love the city of Baltimore, thats ridiculous.. all Ray said was he wasnt going to take a home town discout.. if youre going to come down like that on him, you should do the same for suggs seeing that he fueded with the organization about his contract last year for months.. keep in mind he didnt even come to camp on time because he was holding out
Let SuperStar go to Big-D!
seriously.. why is Ray Lewis getting NO love on any of these forums?

i think it will be a wake up call when we end up with a 6-10 season next year and we'll be missing not only Rex, but Ray as more than a player, but a teacher and leader.

keep in mind HE'S STILL A PRO-BOWLER!! he wants pro-bowl money.. big deal.. you cant argue with the numbers ladies and gents.. I'm not saying the signing of Brown isnt as, if not more important that Lewis', but c'mon.. he's the face of the franchise we all know and love.. i think if he leaves, he'd be sourly missed

I think it's pretty evenly divided: lots of people are fed up with him, but many of us will be devasted if/when he leaves.

Btw we had a 5-11 season with him in 2007, so that argument isn't the best; the Ravens usually have a winning season then a losing season rinse and repeat. Of course after our first loss without Ray (assuming he does't re-sign) we'll be thinking if Ray were there... but that's how life is, changes happen you move on.

we didnt have a new defensive coordinator that year, either.. and its not about being devastated if he leave, no one breaks down film and mentors others better than Ray Lewis and its frustrating that some poeple dont understand that. All im saying is he means more to this team than many people think.
