Mike Mayock analyzes the play of DHB throughout his college career at Maryland. DHB never played football until his freshman year with the Terps, as in highschool he was an All Star track runner (60 meter dash). Rather than going to LSU for track, DHB chose to play football at Maryland.

In response to him passing up his track opportunity, he says "Looking at the facts, I probably should've gone to [college] for track," he said. "But I'm one of those guys who is very confident in himself. I knew in any situation I would be in, I was going to work hard to become the best." --- You have to love a response like that, it really shows his confidence and hard working attitude.

Mayock discusses whether DHB will be a 1st or 2nd round pick saying, "You look at his combination of height, weight and speed, and you want to believe he's a top10 pick," "At other times, it doesn't look like he catches the ball naturally." -- His inconsistency is undoubtedly due to picking up the sport at such a late age.

One of his biggest assets is his speed. Former Terps coach says, "If he runs a slow time [at Indianapolis], he'll still be faster than most of the guys running," Friedgen said. "He never ran slower than 4.2 for me. And it doesn't look like he's running [hard]." -- This is lightning fast, and if he runs under a 4.2, you better believe he'll be a 1st ronder IMO.

He has some big plays in his 3 years as reciever. His production was limited by poor quarterbacking, and the coaching not getting him the ball enough in the game to even have a chance to make a play.

Further showing DHBs work effort, he has been attending 2 a-day workouts, lifting, running and doing the agility drills. His agent, Ben Dogra, (also agent of Stafford and Josh Freeman) also has him out on the field 3 times a week catching passes from the two QBs to improve his inconsistent and "awkward" catching. (Side note -- Dogra has represented 4 out of 5 of the 1st draft picks in the last 5 years)

What do you guys think? He has his up's and downs, but I enjoyed reading the article.

in the case of DHB, i wonder if Maryland fans know something that other fans don't seem to know or is it that maryland fans are over-hyping him because of where he played. I wonder if the kid ran a 4.4 would anyone think he was special? I wonder if he will live up to the hype or turn out like Veron Davis.

I can't say i know much or as much about DHB as most of you seem to, however everything i read about the kid he seems to be a project at the WR position but too fast to past up if given the opportunity. In his case i get the feeling if he doesn't go to the right team that will be patient with him, he could be viewed as a bust. The kid seems to have a lot of really good football ahead of him if given the proper coaching.

Bey might just be one of the cheap young free agent players in 3-4 years that a team gives up on but another team strikes gold.

So the question i will ask DHB fans is: if he didn't run a 4.2/4.3 40, do u think he would or should be a 1st round WR?

but really, i've said it before and ravensfan23 just said it again. if DHB ran a 4.4-4.5......would anyone be talking about him?

speed isn't everything.

I would say more like a Troy Williamson. Everyone pretty much knew it would be a long shot for Figurs to come in and be productive from the WR position. However with Williamson his numbers in college were nothing special much like DHB's and his speed was a huge reason why he was selected #7 overall in 2005

Now just because their numbers and situation seems similar doesn't mean that DHB won't pan out for whoever selects him. I would just caution the DHB supporters to not overvalue him just cause of his speed.

thats exactly how i feel lol.. we've been agreeing on a bunch of different issues lately BCE.. as glamorous as it sounds with him coming to Baltimore, it just scares me that he just started playing football four years ago and at times looks awkward catching the football and we want to make him our WR of the future, but dont get me wrong.. 6'3"/4.3 40; TONS of POTENIAL.. and i emphasize the word "potential"

Exactly, he is a "high risk, high reward" type player. And to be honest Ozzie doesn't gamble on these type players on the 1st day. I am now impartial as to whether I want him or not. I think for an immediate impact we could throw Britt or Nicks in and also get them in the 2nd round, focusing on the pressing need of CB.

I must admit I was on the DHB bandwagon because he's a Terp, is lightning fast, and to his defence, UMD offense hasn't done anything this year, except for him.

And yes, we do agree on alot of things lately, great minds think alike!
