We could draft Alphonso Smith/D.J. Moore with our first pick, even if we trade down to the early second. Then we could draft Kevin Barnes (he's on the taller side right?) or some other corner in the 3rd or 4th round as a developmental pick, so we can have a tall CB in a couple years.
I'm hoping A. Smith even lasts to #26, there's no way he falls into the second round.

I think he will definately make it to #26 just because of the whole height thing. Many teams will view him as a risk in the 1st(think Troy Smith) but love him in the 2nd. I don't care were he is drafted i think he will be well worth the pick. Sometimes decision makers can get so caught up in measureables, that they miss talent and therefore draft a player in the 1st that doesn't pan out. If you watch him play football, you will love his play, combine doesn't really help him in my opinion.

Having a guy like Smith just adds to the playmaking ability of this defense. He has great feet, i don't think he has as much speed as Fabian, but he is definately quick enough to keep up with any WR. He reads routes and QB well, and as i mentioned before when he has the ball in his hands he's like Ed Reed. He will be a playmaker no matter where he plays, however could u imagine he and Reed patrolling the same secondary? QBs would have nightmares.

I think if we got a quality CB in FA, then Smith could definately come in and be the nickleback(depending on if we keep Rolle). I really think the Ravens will find a way to trade out of the 26 spot and pick up another 2nd(and a lot more), then select A. Smith and then trade up with the extra picks to get a WR they want. Ozzie loves working the draft.

don't get it twisted.....it wasn't troy smith's height that made him drop to the last pick in round 5. that was only a small factor amoung many. it was all about his play as a QB.

I'm not saying that Troy's size alone is what made him go in the 5th round. However had Troy Smith been 6'3 instead of just 6'0 the hype around him would have been enough for him to be drafted not later then round 3. Before this turns into a Troy Smith or height thread let me just say i was only making the comparison between the 2 simply because of hieght not talent.

A. Smith has the potential to be the best CB in this draft regardless of size, Troy had/has to prove he can be a NFL QB. Anyway i feel that unless Smith runs around 4.2-4.3 at the combine that he will be there at 26

i know what you meant about troy, i'm just making sure it's clear to everyone else.

as for what smith needs to do at the combine, i don't think he needs to run a 4.2-4.3 (which would be very, very fast) to be taken before our pick. straight line speed means only a TINY bit. it's more important for smith to show how fluid he is in coverage drills. if he does that, he'll be fine. put it this way, he won't be taken any LATER than 26. :)

I like your train of thought.

And yes straight line speed means only a TINY bit, however it is valued so much. That is how teams over draft, but u are 100% correct.
There is also Jairus Byrd who is a quick corner who can be a possible 3rd rounder.
jairus byrd isnt quick, hell probably run a 4.5 like Brando Flowers
Some say he projcects better as a safety

Running a slow 40 doesn't mean you're not quick. The shuttle and cone drills will determine how quick he is. I think Byrd is pretty quick and would be a great pick in the 3rd round. However, if Shawn Nelson is available, they should get him instead.

If we decide to not take a corner in the first round I wouldn't mind taking Darius Butler in the 2nd round. I love this guy and he is very confident young man. I like the swagger he has because it reminds me a lot of the players on our D.
