Please don't post just a link without giving us a synopsis AND your thoughts on the material. That's like asking people to blindly click on whatever.

Figured I'd post it while I was reading it....

But. I agree and think if we are going to offer Ray a deal, we should offer 3 years for 18mil. If he wants to be a Raven, he will take it. If he wants to be richer, he'll wander over to Dallas.

Offering more than this would definitely set us back for the future, and could keep us from potentially improving our CB and WR positions.

^thanks for the article bce...

for those who didnt read it, it says:

"So, here's my proposal: The Ravens should give Lewis, 33, a three-year contract worth $18million." he then added that there would be no signing bonus or incentives..

if that was the case and Jerry Jones comes through with the 27-30 mil over 3 years, we'd be saying bye bye to Ray Lewis. The proposal listed in the article would do wonders for this team, but that is the definition of a hometeam discount, in which ray said he wouldnt take

I dont think Ray will accept that deal. He makes more than half of that contract in 1 yr. If the Ravens came at him with that, there would be no more Ray in B-More. I am sure they will work something out with him to keep him around another 3 yrs. I really cant see a longer term than that.

I am not 100% sure but I think that FOX sports has his salary listed at 6 mil something..

I think if they offered 3 years at 8 mil something (or backload a final year with 10mil (7,7,10)- guaranteeing the first 2 years) This would get them close to anything reasonable Dallas tables.

If he nosed up that offer, well then his desire to remain a Raven wasn't that strong

I am not a Preston fan but I actually agree with him on this. He says we should offer him 6 million per season but in my opinion even thats above his market value. I think the Ravens need to let Lewis test free agency because he's not going to pull 9 or 10 million dollars a year like he thinks he will. He will be lucky to get a deal for 6 million a year from a contending team. I wish Biscotti would keep his mouth shut and let Ozzie handle it. If we dont meet his asking price now we will most definitly lose him because Biscotti has made it known that Ray Lewis is a must have for him. If you want to get anything accomplished without overpaying for something, you have to be ready or atleast be able to pretend that you are willing to move on without it, and not look desperate. The Ravens look desperate to keep Lewis right now and we are going to lose a ton of young talented FA's because of it.

The other thing about that article is the idea of the guaranteed contract. Thats something, I'd like to see adressed when ever a new CBA comes out. We'd avoid so many rookie holdouts and posturing by the vets (i.e. what Lewis is doing right now), if the NFL just guaranteed the contracts. Instead of handing out these inflated backloaded contracts, money that the players will never see, with these gigantic signing bonuses.

I hope we put our offer on the table soon! If Ray does not accept, I hope we resign The Mad Backer Bart Scott and Tag Suggs. :o

I hate to see Suggs get tagged again, Hes part of the future of this team and needs to get a long term deal, as for Ray.. I agree with Preston also.. Probablly for the first time in my life..lol He's not worth 10mil a year and I dont think he'll get that anywhere he goes.

i thought that was a pretty well article, and i basically agree. Paying Lewish anymore than 7-8mil a year would do nothing but hurt us, i dont think he will accept that and i will prolly get it from another team tho. I would rather us focus on the future, i think we should sign suggs to a long term deal and franchise someone else, dont know who tho. I would like scott to stay with suggs and bring in a fresh lb sqaud to learn from those to. I dont like the comment in the article about Favre, i think favre did a great job in NY, and he was one game from the playoffs, they couldnt even think of the playoffs last year.
