Best And Worst Fans In The Nfl
If you say so. The Steelers should be #1 of course. The Ravens should also be in the top five. The Redskins? The Redskins had to go to a silent count in their own stadium when the Steelers played them. Why? Because those loyal Redskins fans sold their tickets to Steelers fans. I can see the Packers and the Bills in the top five. I would also put either the Giants or Cowboys as having a top 5 fanbase.

GO STEELERS!
Like K-dog pointed out, this is subject to an individuals opinion. Personally I think it's easy for fans to show up when their team is winning all the time, which is why I didn't place the Steelers first.
I wonder how many times I will have to say this: the Baltimore Ravens have not been a franchise for very long; it's not like we've had to suffer through years of losing like many other teams have. On the other hand, we have to deal with Steeler fans so that's why I think we deserve honorable mention.
but after all this discussion is very subjective.
Naturally...

I think my top five picks would have to be...:

1.Stealers
2.Cowboys
3.Packers (hey any fan base that would go watch their team in below freezing temperatures would be on my list)
4.Broncos
5.Brownies...
that's just my opinion though ^_^

They more than likely go by attendance,sell-outs and following(as in traveling).
I did see the attendance for 2008, but I never saw this article you were talking about- where they actually decided which fanbase was best.

COWBOYS? maybe in 1997 they had a great fanbase, but now it's just band wagon people with Romo jerseys....

Green Bay
Seatle
Buffalo
San Fransico
Chicago

I'm not putting Pitt up because i don't know how there fan base would look if their city had jobs and they all lived there like a normal fanbase

Packers Fans are incredibly loyal and have terrific attitudes. The only downfall is I hear that they're too accomodating to opposing fans at Lambeau. eh, there's nothing wrong with that.

I am also a member of the Chargers message board and I have never been subjected to such disrespect, personal attacks, and all around lack of football knowledge. I have to admit I first started reading on this site to see some Steeler haters, but as a whole that's not what I found. Pretty classy stuff guys..... I impressed. I'm not talking about good natured smack talk, most SD fans are such a joke. I look forward to chating with you guys about something we all love....the NFL.

Welcome--you will not find smack here because we don't allow it  We have been abused with the Steeler trolls the last 6 weeks so its nice to have another friendly one. Warden an SteelerProphet are 2 "regulars".

Lambeau and Soldier Field are 2 places I would LOVE to go to see a game.

well when i was at the superbowl it was like 70-30 steelers fans....and most of them(like me) traveled down there

man you should have seen that city.....it was black and gold

2 out of every third person had steelers gear on.... and of the other third... only about half of them were Arizona fans

Well, Packers fans have had a lot to brag about throughout their team's history. They're the only fanbase that literally OWNS their team, and the freaking Super Bowl trophy is named after the most famous figure in Green Bay (and NFL) history not named Favre.

Plus, the culture there is very laid-back and hospitable. And that amazingly spills over into their fanhood, as I have never seen fans smile so much and be so friendly even during a losing season. They are the complete antithesis of Eagles fans, who are wholly unforgiving of the team's failures even during a winning season.
I wonder why ESPN would vote Oakland as the best fans considering they have one of the lowest attendance rates even at home games.

I'm curious, who's fanbase do you think is the best? Or did you just want to comment on my picks?
I can't find the article but I def remeber Raider nation was in the top 5.

Here is one from the beginning of the season but with different criteria.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/preview08/co...tory?id=3530077

I have to say the Steelers have the best fanbase which is the product of a winning system for several generations. I can't stand the fact they have 6 because now that is all we are going to hear for years to come. I pray that team gets bought by an Al-Davis every night. I can't stand it when there fans ask "well how many superbowls do you guys have?" Acting like our franchise has been around just as long.

Worst Fanbase goes to the Dolphins. Seeing more purple than orange when we met them on the road was hilarious. Even though the world series was taking place I wont cut them any slack because its snoozeball.

those are bandwagoners and transplants....pittsburgh is a smaller city than b-more. <_<

Actually in Daytona there is a Steeler fan club at one of the bars with over 400 "local" members--90 mins away from Tampa. The one thing that keeps me from moving there full time

Well at some point, someone will catch up in SBs and then no one will even remember that they were first. Do you hear people saying "Well my team was the first to have five..." Once the other teams catch up, they'll be put in their place.

Lol I like your Al-Davis thing. I'm hoping the Lions first win will be against the Steelers next year, that would be hilarious.

The Steelers fan base is awful. Don't buy the media hype. They consistently leave early, sit on their hands all game, and generally treat the game with a lackadaisical sense of entitlement.
Lol I didn't know the Jags were in danger of leaving... that's funny. I lived in Jacksonville for a while and my experience was what I based that on. But hey, everyone's entitled to their own opinion. Btw I was speaking strictly in terms of the Nfl. I've never watched a single college game so I wouldn't venture a guess there.

So you really don't think the Eagles have a disrespetful fanbase? I mean really, it's the Eagles. And sorry to say it, but Steelers Prophet is the only nice Pittsburg fan I've ever met.
The Eagles are horrible Fans as far as being disrespetful i went to one game with my Girl friend and i will never ever go back to PA and watch a game. I had nothing on just a shirt and jeans and some of the things they said where out of this world
"Hey where is your Eagles Stuff you......." "you dont belong here without a Eagles jersey you........"
it was bad i mean i couldnt see myself having my Ravens gear on and going there.

Based on personal experience, I would say that the Jags have the best attitude. We went to a Ravens/Jags game a couple of years ago and many Jags fans approached us and thanked us for visiting their City. They were very nice and respectful of the visiting fans. We lost that game, but it was an enjoyable experience.

Ditto. How cool would it be though to go see one divison game in every stadium?

Ravens fans are number one, Baltimore football is number one. Lets also look at the Lions, after the year they just had and those years prior to that anyone who is still wearing a Lions jersey or stating they are Lion's fans need to be awarded fan of the year trophy immediatly.

I've been to 3 Rivers but I can not see going to Ohio, esp the way Cleveland fans think about Ravens fans :o and I really really really really really really really really hate snow and cold weather  Heck when I was in Pittsburgh in November it was snowing!

I once went to Cleveland and sat in the upper Dawg Pound wearing Ravens stuff, I lasted until 6 mintues left in the game when people started throwing cups at me, I got out of there A.S.A.P. what made it worse was it was the first Cleveland Browns victory over the Ravens the year after they won the Super Bowl. One guy named Hooper was nice enough to let us tailgate with him in the Muni lot where there were chants I can't print here at us as I was walking to his spot at Dawg Talk Island.

Well on the bright side, the Ravens losing to the Browns again isn't likely to happen anytime soon. :)

There is a Steelers fan club of Maryland that boasts 4,000 lifetime members and there are 3 Steeler bars in Montgomery County. I have to drive to Glen Burnie to find a decent Ravens bar, although I hear the Thirsty Turtle in College Park is a Ravens stronghold.

I live in the St. Augustine area also. The only thing I would disagree with is what Franchise said about Jacksonville not being a football town. Actually, it is a huge football town but it is more of a college football town. Jax has lots of fanatical Gator, Seminole, and even Georgia Bulldog fans.

Is this possibly due to the fact of the absence of football in Baltimore between the Colts and Ravens, and some fans just wanted to connect to another team? Then for some, they stayed with the Steelers because who was the new team...an old division rival Browns renamed the Ravens.
